After Lindsay Lohan reportedly beat out Megan Fox for the role of Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime original movie, Liz & Dick, the network then set out to find its Richard Burton, and has now landed him via former True Blood werewolf and biker gang leader, Cooter. Deadline reports that the decision came down to seeing the chemistry “erupt” between Bowler and Lohan during Bowler’s audition.

The casting of Bowler occurs only days (June 4th) before shooting is set to begin. Besides True Blood, viewers might recall Bowler’s short stint in Lost as the captain of Kahana freighter. He’s also set to star in Syfy’s upcoming Defiance, which also features Julie Benz, Fionnula Flanagan, and Mia Kirshner.

Lindsay Lohan has found the Richard Burton to her Elizabeth Taylor in the upcoming Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick."
Grant Bowler, who hails from Auckland, New Zealand, nabbed the role opposite Lohan, in the film that is supposed to help revive her film career. The 43-year-old actor isn't necessarily a recognizable face, but is perhaps best known for playing Vanessa Williams' boyfriend on "Ugly Betty," a werewolf on "True Blood" and for hosting the "The Amazing Race Australia."
Bowler has had a steady career in television, but could playing Lohan's romantic lead actually hurt his career?
It's definitely a possibility as it seems there's a surprisingly high number of young actors whose seemingly rising careers have plummeted after romancing Lohan on-screen.

They shared an episode, but not any scenes in Season 3 of "Ugly Betty," and now the former not-quite co-stars Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler are teaming up for Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick," and the hunk can't wait.

We had our doubts as to whether Lindsay Lohan's comeback performance as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime Original Movie "Liz and Dick" would ever come to fruition, but now that the eponymous Dick has been cast, things are looking up for LiLo.
"True Blood's" Grant Bowler has nabbed the role of Richard Burton, Taylor's on- and off-screen leading man. Executive producer Larry Thompson tells Deadline that when Bowler and Lohan read together, they knew they'd found their Burton -- and just in time, too, as filming begins in less than two weeks.
"Grant will add gravitas to our couple and bring to life one of the greatest actors who has ever lived," Thompson says. "Burton was a Welsh poet, a rascal, and a man's man, who swept Elizabeth Taylor off her feet and flew her so close to the sun that they both exploded into stardust that still lights up Hollywood. »

It's taken awhile for Lindsay Lohan to climb out of the giant, drug-fueled hole she dug herself, but apparently the gal is forging ahead, committing to a role that, unlike her previous false starts, actually seems to be happening. Lohan has been busy this week doing wardrobe fittings for her upcoming Lifetime biopic based on the life of Elizabeth Taylor, but more specifically the iconic actress's rocky relationship with Richard Burton. E! News reported yesterday that True Blood's Grant Bowler has been cast as Burton; meanwhile, Lohan posted an image on Twitter of herself as Elizabeth Taylor, which you can see below. Yup, there's definitely a resemblance, so that part is taken care of. But can Lohan act? Her recent stint on Saturday Night Live was sort of a...

While the news that Lindsay Lohan had been cast to play Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime Original Movie "Liz & Dick," about the star's turbulent relationship with Richard Burton, caused a stir and seemed like a bold if potentially difficult publicity grab, the choice for who'll take on the role of Burton is considerably less loaded. According to Deadline, Grant Bowler will do the honors. The New Zealand-born actor may be best know for playing Wilhelmina Slater's shady love interest Connor Owens in "Ugly Betty" or werewolf biker Cooter in "True Blood," but Ayn Rand fans and lovers of disastrous cinema may also recognize him as Henry Rearden from last year's "Atlas Shrugged: Part I." "Liz & Dick," which is written by Christopher Monger of "Temple Grandin," is scheduled to start filming on June 4th.

Molly Ringwald may be getting pushback on whether Ducky was gay, but she can be sure she's surrounded by a bunch of gays when she's the Grand Marshall of L.A. Pride.
One Million Moms is boycotting both Marvel and DC over their gay characters, which I'm certain they're grateful for. Evidently though, it's not gay if there's a robot penis involved.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is calling out the National Organization for Marriage for their tendency to denounce extremist groups for their language while still linking out to their anti-gay screeds and discredited studies. I bet Brian Brown would love the martyr status that would come with being designated a hate group.

Out of circulation for decades, Peter Glenville’s acclaimed film of Jean Anouilh’s 1959 play was recently restored by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation. Friendly rivals Richard Burton and Peter O’Toole once again don regal robes as Archbishop Thomas Becket and King Henry II, whose emotional relationship sours over matters of faith. Edward Anhalt’s eloquent, endlessly quotable screenplay won the only one of the 12 Oscars this film was nominated for. Five years later O’Toole played an older Henry II in The Lion in Winter.

Lifetime provoked a frenzy of response last month when it cast Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor in its biopic Liz & Dick. Bowler is recognizable to True Blood fans as V-addicted werewolf Cooter and to Ugly Betty fans as Wilhelmina’s love interest.
