This list in no order of preference, has the top 10 most underrated 'hollywood' comedies ever made. That means they were either ridiculed or forgotten immediately upon release.
The intent of black comedy is often for the audience to experience both laughter and discomfort, sometimes simultaneously. Popular themes of the genre include murder, suicide, depression, abuse, mutilation, war, barbarism, drug abuse, terminal illness, domestic violence, sexual violence, pedophilia, insanity, nightmare, disease, racism, homophobia, sexism, disability (both physical and mental), chauvinism, corruption, and crime. Listed in chronological order. Please note that I am stingy with stars, and try to rate based on criteria more objective than simply "I loved it/hated it"--a movie has to be really outstanding to earn an 8 or higher from me.

This list consists of some of my favorite comedies from over the years. These ones never seem to get old to me. I'm sure I will feel that way about some of the newer ones eventually! Thanks for looking and comments are welcomed!
Spoofs are hard to get right. Sometimes it is hard to even get the embedded humor without seeing the original. These are my favorites:) Let me know if you like something that isn't on here. I didn't put these in any particular order by the way.
The list contains 30 movies of the best from the 80s all the way to modern time.
I believe that is a bit hard to find good comedies. Even today I find some good comedies back to 1980's which I never saw before.
So this is my personal list of comedies which I watched and liked. There is no ranking order, I just added them as I remembered.
I will update from time to time this list.

If you like simple humour like steve carrel. This is the list to watch. No romantic *beep* or lame humour like Will Farrel. No dramatised comedy like forrest gump. Just simple humour and no rubbish!
Here is a list of comedies from the '80s decade. Those were my school days and i have watched these movies, sometimes along with my friends or sometimes alone - but unaware at home.
It was very heroic, in those days, watching movies without acceptance from parents. Very memorable decade and these films were very instrumental in bring up many new things to me.
ideas, fantasies, colors, big picture....it was a different experience.

This is a list of my all-time favorite comedies. Movies considered Romantic Comedies, do not appear on this list. Additionally, animated movies do not appear on this list either.

Some US comedies are brilliant, no doubt (Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Friends, Taxi, Golden Girls. Frasier, Cheers, Roseanne etc) however UK sit-coms are better by far, you know it's true...
Just because some arty-farty film journo says it's a classic, doesn't mean it is.
