Acting- the power of the acting as a whole.
Technical- camera angles, lighting, editing, sound.
Re-watch- if i could watch it over and over.
Plot- the story line. well written. is it interesting.
Validity- given the environment, how believable is it.
Enjoyment- how enjoyable the film was.
Visuals- cinematography, special effects.
Pacing- if it keeps you glued.
Mood- suspense, music, tension, costumes, art design.
Impact- does it make me either laugh, cry, scare, think, feel.
(the score out of 100 is all these added up).

2012 was a great year for movies, with five films ultimately making my top grade (10/10), and another five films making just under that (9/10). The following is my top 10 films of the year.

When done well, this is one of my favorite sub-genres. But it's kind of self-defeating in its way. If it's done right, there is nothing left to say, and sequels, remakes, or ripoffs would fail before they even get started.
