Babu is devastated when he learns of this and heartbroken when Uma goes to the extent of slapping him when he accuses her parents of changing her mind. In a unique way, Babu files a case against Uma for not holding the promise made to him of sharing a life together for a good 50 years. The case soon gathers momentum and has the public discussing it everywhere. As the case progresses, several sacrifices made by Babu for the sake of Uma come into light through revelations made by people known to him and by his close friends. Uma has a change of heart and on the final day of the hearing, decides to re-unite with Babu. In a final twist, when Uma offers a rose to Babu, he refuses to accept her, saying that the case was filed not to win her back, but to teach a lesson to her and every girl with an attitude identical. The dada throughout the film has a dark skin and sports a bald head. Iyer believes that dadas and rowdies must be eliminated through encounters. But his father thinks one does not have the right to take any life. Dada Venkatachalapthy plants bombs at various places in the city and puts the blame on Muslims. Iyer takes Venkatachalapathy into custody. His sons Pasupathi and Gajapathi try to kill Iyer. Now Iyer's father turns against him and joins the villain. This sets off a chain of events leading to murders. Satyaraj does both the roles of Iyer and Venkatachalapathy with maturity looking majestic in uniform. Sangavi as Iyer's wife appears in a brief seductive role. Anantharaj and O.A.K. Sunder (dada's sons) are adequate. Narayana Rao as Iyer's father ends up overacting, his voice being the main culprit. The director recently filmed a dance with black skinned Sathyaraj and curvaceous Abhinayasree, Babilona and junior Silk. The dark skinned white mustache Sathyaraj with three beauties was a rare sight for the onlookers. Harirajan promises to give many such rarities in the film.

For the marriage of their friend in their college, Krishna and Gayathri return there. Vivek and their collegemates try to convince Krishna and Gayathri to be together again. Krishna has a change of heart, he convinces her with a song and they eventually reconcile.

The movies begins with Manickam (Sathyaraj) kidnapping Divya (Susan), who is the girl friend of Mano (Abbas). Mano decides to rescue Divya, but fails to do so after repeated attempts. In every attempt he is foiled by Manickam through one of his many disguises. At this point Mano's friend Aruchamy (Vivek) comes to help him in his dilemma. Aruchamy is a suspended police office and appoints Manickam to be his lorry cleaner. This way he and Mano trace out where Divya is held. Mano, realizing that it is Manickam who has been foiling his attempts to rescue Divya, goes to the place where she is kept hidden along with the police. This is where the plot twister starts. Divya suddenly says that was married to Manickam years ago and that she never knew Mano. This statement makes Mano go crazy. Finally, Aruchamy make Manickam confess the truth. Manickam's wife Ramya (Pranathi) was run over by Mano's car, when Mano had driven the vehicle completely under the influence of alcohol. The case was covered up using his wealth and status. Just to teach him a lesson, Manickam along with his sister-in-law Divya enacted such a drama.

In Madurai, Priya has finished her studies and returns to her native village. She also accepts for an arranged marriage to escape from her dead-end life in a small village. Karthik and his family come to the village to see the potential bride Priya. Karthik and Priya fall in love at first sight, accept to get married and they marry with the blessings of their families. After the marriage, Nandha tells Priya that Karthik is heavily dependent on him, stubborn and asks her to take care of him from now on. Whereas Priya's family takes promises from Nandha to not make her cry or else they would teach him a lesson. Karthik and Priya move in a flat in Chennai. The young couple decides to have enough space and privacy in their relationship but Karthik's mother urges Priya to be more intrusive towards Karthik. Priya being a disciplined person is bothered by the carelessness of Karthik. In one week, a dispute arises between the two as they find that they are not compatible. They split up and Priya returns to her village. Nandha then convinces Priya to come back home and Nandha tries his best to unite the young couple. Priya decides to seduce her husband in different ways. She tries to capitalise on her glamour and her culinary skills, but both her attempts fail miserably. Priya and Karthik then start to annoy each other. One day, things get out of control and a furious Karthik threatens her with a knife and Priya calls the police. The police arrest Karthik and Nandha tries to change Priya's mind but she slaps him. After this incident, Karthik applies for divorce. In an attempt to save their marriage, Nandha sends the couple attending marriage counselling sessions but they are hell-bent on getting a divorce. Priya's family have to resort to the rowdy Gaja (Karate Raja) to speed up the divorce process. At the 60th wedding anniversary of Priya's grandparents (M. S. Viswanathan and M. N. Rajam), the old couple and Nandha have an emotional speech changing Priya's negative thoughts about marriage and she begs her grandparents for forgiveness for hurting their feelings. Gaja who falls in love with Priya kidnaps her and Nandha urges Karthik to save her. During the fight, Nandha is stabbed by a henchman and he is later saved at the hospital. Karthik too feels bad for hurting the feelings of his family. The couple puts their egos aside and decides to unite for the benefit of all.

In the meantime, Palaniappan attempts suicide because he is deeply in debt. Uma steps in and helps Arun, who is preparing for I.A.S. exams. She does everything to ensure that he becomes an I.A.S. officer; in turn, he promises to marry her and rescue her from her situation. But Uma lands in prison after an unfortunate encounter with her brother-in-law. Will the couple be reunited?

Bhairavamurthy's wife and car driver got killed by Gajapathy's henchmen in the past, then Kadhir (Sibiraj), the car driver's son, decided to take revenge on Gajapathy one day and grew up in Bhairavamurthy's house. Amutha (Suha), Bhairavamurthy's daughter, returns to her village after studying in the city college and then falls in love with Kadhir. Bhairavamurthy decides to join hands with Gajapathy and to kill his faithful henchman Kadhir. The couple elopes from the house and runs around the village. Pratap (Sathyaraj), an honest cop, saves them. The henchmen, who worked with the landlords, lay down their arms and support the couple. Bhairavamurthy and Gajapathy decide to both kill Kadhir, but they eventually kill each other.

With his family, Shankar meets her family to get engaged to her and her parents accept. At first, Thenmozhi refuses to marry him but she changes her mind for her family and requests them to postpone the wedding until she finishes her studies. In the meantime, Elango moves to Chennai, he becomes a story writer for a magazine and his stories about his love failure become popular among the readers. Later, Thenmozhi meets Elango and praises him for his work and she tells him that the happiness of her parents is more important than anything for her. The success of his stories prompted Elango to write a book and he invites his friend Thenmozhi for the release function. When Shankar comes to know about it, he doubts her of being in love with Elango and her parents decide to prepone her wedding. The day of the marriage, Elango is beaten up by Shankar's henchmen and is admitted to the hospital, when she comes to know about it, Thenmozhi rushes to see him. Elango completely lost eyesight and he is now blind in both eyes. When Thenmozhi returns to the marriage, she refuses to marry a cold-blooded person and her family agree with her decision. Shankar's family and friends scold him for being so inhuman, a heartbroken Shankar commits suicide by shooting himself with a gun. In the hospital, Elango regains sight and he learns that he has Shankar's eyes. In a letter written just before his suicide, Shankar apologizes for suspecting Elango and Thenmozhi's friendship. The film ends with Elango and Thenmozhi getting together.

After the death of her father, Megalai had the duty of looking after her sister and finding a job. Megalai then sought her father's government job but the officer demanded sexual favours from her in return for the job and Megalai refused. She went to the beach to clear up her mind and stayed there the whole day. As night fell, some drunk men tried to misbehave with her and the police officer Gajapathi drove them out and took her to the police station. There, she came to know that Gajapathi had raped a lady constable. Gajapathi beat up the journalist who took the video of his rape and left the videocassette on his table, Megalai took it and ran away from the place. During the run, Megalai was hit by Thandavarayan's car and Thandavarayan took the unconscious Megalai at his home. When Megalai woke up, she listened to the minister's plan of putting a bomb in a hospital. She managed to escape from the place and the minister's goons, and she beat up a pervert who tried to rape her. Megalai then entered a church and begged the church father to help her, he suggested her to stay in his home. The church father turned out to be a fraud and tried to rape Megalai, during the clash, Megalai was injured in the head and fainted. After she awakes in the hospital, Megalai tells all the events to the police inspector Soundarapandian (Charan Raj) and he vows to put the culprit in jail. The next day, Malarvannan finds the videocassette and gives it to Soundarapandian. Meanwhile, Gajapathi sneaks into the hospital to kill Megalai while two terrorists appointed by Thandavarayan try to put a bomb in the hospital. Soundarapandian manages to save Megalai by killing Gajapathi. Following a bomb alert, the patients and the medical staff try to leave the place but it exploded killing more than 200 people. The following day, minister Thandavarayan commits suicide whereas the fake church father dies after being electrocuted. The film ends with Soundarapandian congratulating Megalai for her braveness and Megalai finally finds a government job.

Meanwhile, Kavitha's uncle Karuppusamy (Ramesh Kanna), a nothing-for-good, wants to marry Kavitha at any cost. Sakthivel and Kavitha get engaged, and Sakthivel then leaves the village to attend the IPS interview in Delhi. The day of the wedding, Sakthivel returns to the village and announces that he did not attend the interview. Kavitha's father then cancels the wedding and Karuppusamy humiliates Sakthivel and his father in front of the villagers. Sakthivel explains to his father that he had to perform the last rites of his teacher (Gowthami Vembunathan) who took care of him when he was young. Therefore, he could not make it on time to attend the interview. Sakthivel promises his father and his lover that he will become an IPS officer and he gets a second chance to attend the interview. The day of the interview, Karuppusamy send goons to kill Sakthivel but Sakthivel manages to beat them all. Sakthivel returns to the village in a police uniform after passing the interview. The villagers praise Sakthivel thus making his father proud. Karuppusamy apologizes for his behaviour to Shanmugam and Kavitha's father accepts for the wedding.

Her sister wants her brother Santhosh to marry her cousin Thamizhselvi but Thamizhselvi refuses to marry him for not getting enough money and humiliates them. When Divya wanted to introduce her lover Sindhu to her parents, Sindhu stood them up for various reasons. The first time, he got an opportunity to sing in a concert, so Divya's parents were understanding. While the second time, it was the last of college, therefore, his friends and he celebrated and got drunk, Divya and her parents were disappointed that he did not come. Worried about Sindhu, Divya goes to his college dorm and she sees the drunk Sindhu talks ill about her. The next day, Sindhu realizes his mistake and apologizes to Divya. Divya, who sincerely loved him, tells him that he was too reckless and immature to be her life partner. Divya and her parents are about to move to the United States and before leaving, she tells Sindhu that he has missed an opportunity to make it big in life. Thereafter, all his friends decide to pursue a master's degree in science while Sindhu has to clear all his arrears to complete his bachelor degree. Sindhu finds himself alone, isolated and mocked by the villagers. In the meantime, Thamizhselvi, who refused to marry grooms for not being rich enough, finally agrees to marry a doctor when she discovers that her mother (Rajini Nivetha) has cardiovascular disease. The day of the wedding, the groom demands a huge dowry but Thamizhselvi's mother tells them that she has not that much money and the wedding is cancelled. The carefree Sindhu and arrogant Thamizhselvi who both fail in life decide to marry. Sindhu then gets an opportunity to sing in a feature film. The film ends with Sindhu and Thamizhselvi living happily.

One day, Subha wanted to have sex with him but he refused. He explained to her that love should be pure and sex should be only after the marriage. For his love, he made several sacrifices including not going to an aeronautics training. Thereafter, Subha announced to him that she will marry a wealthy NRI and explained that their love wasn't strong enough (because they didn't have sexual intercourse). He created a ruckus at the registrar's office and Subha lied by saying that they were just friends. The police then arrested Santhosh hence the punishment to read Mahatma Gandhi's autobiography. Back to the present, Santhosh tries to reconcile with Nithika but she tells him that he is "unfit" for love. Santhosh then meets Subha, she tells him that her husband divorced her when she got breast cancer. She apologizes to him for her mistakes and she is now working in an ashram. Santhosh and Nithika finally understand their feelings, and they make up after their quarrel.

Veerabhadran declares to the media that he will not negotiate with Malayappan and he will not give a single penny to the brigand. Malayappan realizes that he made a mistake by kidnapping the wrong person. Therefore, the cunning Tamizharasan suggests that Malayappan kidnap Veerabhadran's daughter and Malayappan follows his advice. Veerabhadran, who now wants to save his daughter at any cost, sends the popular news reporter Muthuvel (Vasu Vikram) to negotiate with the brigand in the forest. Thereafter, Malayappan releases Veerabhadran's daughter and a video of him killing Tamizharasan. Following the fiasco, the governor of Tamil Nadu dismissed the current state government and Veerabhadran lost his Chief Minister post. Malayappan even gets a general amnesty and receives a government bungalow. Tamizharasan is indeed alive and that video of him being killed was a sham. Malayappan, who was hiding in the forests so far, is hailed by the people of Tamil Nadu. Thus Malayappan forms a political party after seeing his growing popularity. According to the survey, Malayappan has a good probability to become the new Chief Minister. Veerabhadran and Tamizharasan's party members then join Malayappan's party. In the end, the brigand cum politician Malayappan wins the election by a huge margin and becomes the new Chief Minister. In the meantime, Malayappan marries his lover Ponni (Anamika). Unlike the former Chief Ministers, Malayappan wants to help the people and starts his fight against corruption. What transpires next forms the crux of the story.

Following the success of the film, a film manager gives her an opportunity to play a heroine role and compels her to come to Chennai. The two lovers have disappeared the same night, and Sakthi tries to track down the couple. Many days later, a distraught Malar returns to her village alone. Malar's body is then found hanging from a tree, and her postmortem report reveals that she was sexually abused. Mathi returns home and then has a fight with Sakthi. Mathi then explains that he did not elope with her. That night, he and his friends decided to attend a birthday party in Chennai, so they went there without people knowing it. Sakthi then apologizes for mistaking him. Later, Mathi gives the film manager a lift. During the talk, the film manager confessed that he had brainwashed Malar to come to Chennai and that he had raped her. An outraged Mathi crashed the car into a rock and killed the film manager. In his hospital bed, Mathi begs Sakthi to take care of his sister Selvi and then dies of his injuries.

Later, Ramya becomes pregnant and Sakthi wants her to abort the baby but Ramya refuses. One day, he lies to his sister that they are going to the temple and he tries to bring her to the doctor. Robert comes to her rescue and saves her. During the fight between Sakthi and Robert, Sakthi falls from a building and they take him to the nearby hospital. Ramya sold her thaali to pay the hospital bills and Sakthi is saved by the doctor. Sakthi finally understands his mistake. Robert and Ramya lived happily ever after.

He passed out in flying colours in his law exams and joins as Parasuram's junior.The rest is all emotional drama which culminates with Jai Akash taking revenge of Parasuram and a reunion with his father.

Seetha and Jameela want their husbands to make peace. Hussain's son grows up as Shankar (Ramana) in Sundaram's house, whereas Sundaram's son grows up as Ameer (Mohankumar) in Hussain's house. Ameer falls in love with Shankar's cousin Anu (Rekha Unnikrishnan), while Shankar falls in love with Ameer's relative Zarina (Ragini Nandwani). Thereafter, Ameer and Shankar become friends and decide to support their love. Sabapathy, who pulled strings to create conflicts between Muslims and Hindus, is ultimately killed. The film ends with Hussain and Sundaram making up after their quarrel, the lovers brought together, and Muslims and Hindus making peace.

Meanwhile, Narmadha who was still studying in college got an opportunity to act as a heroine in a film. First reluctant, she accepts when she needed money for her mother's heart surgery. During the shooting of her first film, Narmadha and her father Ramkumar met Bala, they felt pity for him and decided to help him. Bala stayed in Narmadha's home and before the death of Narmadha's mother, Bala promised her to make her daughter Narmadha a successful actress. Bala and Narmadha eventually fell in love with each. Later, Narmadha's first film got negative reviews during the test screening, so the film's financier planned to kill Narmadha before its release to create publicity thus making it a blockbuster film. Bala who had listened to his conversation tried to save her from the goons. During the fight, Narmadha and Bala got injured in the head but they managed to escape and ended up in a mass marriage ceremony. Ramkumar who was with them agreed for the wedding and they got married. When Bala's father (Rajeev) came to know about the wedding, he gave Bala one of his properties and disowned his son. Later at the hospital, Narmadha had been diagnosed with selective amnesia (she didn't remember anything for the past 2 years) whereas Bala developed a stutter. To release Narmadha's first film, Bala sold his property and paid the film's producer. Upon release, Narmadha received acclaim for her acting by critics and audience alike but the film flopped and Bala lost all his money. However, Narmadha was flooded with offers to act in films. To save his daughter's acting career and her mother's dream, Ramkumar begged Bala to not disclose about their wedding at any moment and Bala began to work as her car driver. Narmadha, who finally comes to know about Bala's sacrifices, decides to put an end to her acting career and to live with her husband Bala. Bala and Narmadha live happily ever after.

Later, Shiva meets Kavitha in a shop and clarifies everything: Priya, Vijay and their parents are all orphans and Shiva wanted them to live together as long as possible. Thereafter, Shiva and Kavitha fall in love with each other. One night, Kavitha goes to see her mother (Seetha), a prostitute, in her house in the colony. A police squad headed by Deena Dayalan raid the colony and they arrest many women for alleged prostitution including the innocent Kavitha. Kavitha is then released but Shiva has been deeply shaken by the news and Deena Dayalan tells his son to forget her. A depressed Shiva cannot forget her. After the sudden death of her mother, Kavitha meets Shiva. She tells him everything and Shiva finally understands that she is innocent. On his side, Shiva convinces his parents to support their love and they accept for the marriage. Meanwhile, a saddened Kavitha arrives at the bus station to leave the city. Shiva then finds her at the bus station and he happily announces that they are going to marry with the blessings of his parents. Kavitha falls unconscious (she drank poison before) and she says to him "I love you" before dying on his lap. The film ends with a distraught Shiva dying of heart attack on the spot.
