- DirectorJay RoachStarsBryan CranstonAnthony MackieMelissa LeoLyndon B. Johnson becomes the President of the United States in the chaotic aftermath of John F. Kennedy's assassination, and spends his first year in office fighting to pass the Civil Rights Act.Fantastic historical biography from Jay Roach on the tenure of President of the United States #36, Lyndon B. Johnson. The story begins just after John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963. Soon after, he announces his first act as president will be to pass JFK's Civil Rights Act, which creates divided chaos throughout both major political parties, as well as retaliation from minorities being led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. What made this film so great was LBJ's infection personality. He can be very charming and comical, but also very intimidating, and so forcefully convincing that it would become known as the "Johnson treatment". Bryan Cranston encompassed all of those traits brilliantly, and arguably delivers his greatest lead performance of all time. He's also an executive producer on the film, which shows he loves the project that much more. Anthony Mackie also delivers one of his best roles as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr..
