- DirectorPete DocterBob PetersonStarsEdward AsnerJordan NagaiJohn Ratzenberger78-year-old Carl Fredricksen travels to Paradise Falls in his house equipped with balloons, inadvertently taking a young stowaway. It's pretty good. (10, 5I, 5E)
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJake GyllenhaalRobert Downey Jr.Mark RuffaloBetween 1968 and 1983, a San Francisco cartoonist becomes an amateur detective obsessed with tracking down the Zodiac Killer, an unidentified individual who terrorizes Northern California with a killing spree. This is up there as close to one of my favorite movies. It's long but besides that its perfect, great acting, story. I love this movie to bits. (9, 4I, 5E)
- DirectorAndrew StantonStarsBen BurttElissa KnightJeff GarlinIn the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. This was the first one of the Pixar movies that really tried to include a message and it can be a little janky but the rest of everything is awesome. (9, 5I, 4E)
- DirectorLee UnkrichAdrian MolinaStarsAnthony GonzalezGael García BernalBenjamin BrattAspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer. This movie is beautiful. Absolutely stunning. If you haven't seen this one yet get on that. (9, 4I, 5E)
- DirectorSteven SoderberghStarsGeorge ClooneyBrad PittJulia RobertsDanny Ocean and his ten accomplices plan to rob three Las Vegas casinos simultaneously. This movie is a blast from start to finish. It's far from perfect but I can always rewatch it. (8, 3I, 5E)
- DirectorJordan Vogt-RobertsStarsTom HiddlestonSamuel L. JacksonBrie LarsonAfter the Vietnam war, a team of scientists explores an uncharted island in the Pacific, venturing into the domain of the mighty Kong and must fight to escape a primal Eden.Surprisingly good, the decision to move it from 1933 to 1973 was great, the movie flows very well and I thoroughly enjoy the entire ride. I would recommend this movie but it does fall into the "i have no idea who any of you are" trope of most action movies. (8, 3I, 5E)
- DirectorJohn LasseterAsh BrannonLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackWhen Woody is stolen by a toy collector, Buzz and his friends set out on a rescue mission to save Woody before he becomes a museum toy property with his roundup gang Jessie, Prospector, and Bullseye.Improves on the original in every way. I enjoyed watching them back to back it made the parallel's between Woody and Buzz that much more clear. (8, 4I, 4E)
- DirectorBrad BirdStarsCraig T. NelsonSamuel L. JacksonHolly HunterWhile trying to lead a quiet suburban life, a family of undercover superheroes are forced into action to save the world.Really great movie, I think I've seen it to many times though of course that just shows how good it is if I have seen it five or six times. (8, 4I, 4E)
- DirectorAndrew StantonLee UnkrichStarsAlbert BrooksEllen DeGeneresAlexander GouldAfter his son is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring him home.Super fun adventure. I really enjoy this movie a classic adventure story with a clear goal and lots of shenanigan's along the way. (8, 5I, 3E)
- DirectorJohn LasseterStarsTom HanksTim AllenDon RicklesA cowboy doll is profoundly threatened and jealous when a new spaceman action figure supplants him as top toy in a boy's bedroom.A classic for a good reason. I was surprised by how well Woody and Buzz's friendship grows over the movie that was a detail I had forgotten. Great film but doesn't really have a strong message in it unlike future Pixar movies. (8, 4I, 4E)
- DirectorWolfgang PetersenStarsRichard DreyfussKurt RussellEmmy RossumOn New Year's Eve, the luxury ocean liner Poseidon capsizes after being swamped by a rogue wave. The survivors are left to fight for their lives as they attempt to escape the sinking ship. This is an awesome movie. I can understand why people wouldn't like this movie but those reasons don't dampen my enjoyment of this fun romp. (8, 5I, 3E)
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioEmily MortimerMark RuffaloTeddy Daniels and Chuck Aule, two US marshals, are sent to an asylum on a remote island in order to investigate the disappearance of a patient, where Teddy uncovers a shocking truth about the place.Good movie. Not a whole lot to add good all around movie. Honestly don't know if i'd recommend it though. (8, 5I, 3E)
- DirectorLarry CharlesStarsSacha Baron CohenKen DavitianLuenellKazakh TV talking head Borat is dispatched to the United States to report on the greatest country in the world.Surprisingly funny. Relies a lot on shock humor but has a real feeling all through it. It also is very unpredictable which is fun. (7, 3I, 4E)
- DirectorBrad BirdStarsCraig T. NelsonHolly HunterSarah VowellThe Incredibles family takes on a new mission which involves a change in family roles: Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) must manage the house while his wife Helen (Elastigirl) goes out to save the world.Screenslaver is so poorly used, he could be such a cool villain but they do nothing interesting with him instead doing a hypnosis plot that we have seen sooo many times. Also everyone sounds so old nowadays. (7, 4I, 3E)
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsHugh JackmanEvangeline LillyDakota GoyoIn the near future, robot boxing is a top sport. A struggling ex-boxer feels he's found a champion in a discarded robot. Not as good as when I was kid but still really good. The kid was a surprisingly good actor and the movie does not feel bloated. I wish we could have seen more robots but overall a great movie. (7, 4I, 3E)
- DirectorPhilip KaufmanStarsDonald SutherlandBrooke AdamsJeff GoldblumWhen strange seeds drift to earth from space, mysterious pods begin to grow and invade San Francisco, replicating the city's residents one body at a time.Impressively good movie that holds up surprisingly well, if it sounds interesting check it out but I don't think it's a must watch. (7, 4I, 3E)
- DirectorRoger SpottiswoodeStarsPierce BrosnanJonathan PryceMichelle YeohJames Bond sets out to stop a media mogul's plan to induce a war between China and the United Kingdom.Brosnan is a great Bond and this plot is good. I think it was def overlooked when it came out but stands as one of the better Bond Movies. (7, 4I, 3E)
- DirectorJohn PasquinStarsTim AllenJudge ReinholdWendy CrewsonWhen a man inadvertently makes Santa fall off his roof on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place.Surprisingly good. I like the non-Christmas parts more, the descent into madness of a bad father who gets forcibly transformed into father Christmas. (7, 4I, 3E)
- DirectorMichael LembeckStarsTim AllenSpencer BreslinElizabeth MitchellScott Calvin has been a humble Santa Claus for eight years, but it might come to an end if he doesn't find a Mrs. Claus. One has to wonder if they are sick when they watch a movie titled "The Santa Clause 2" and finds themselves thoroughly enjoying it. It's a good movie and has been added to my Christmas season must watches. (7, 2I, 5E)
- DirectorWilliam EubankStarsKristen StewartVincent CasselMamoudou AthieA crew of oceanic researchers working for a deep sea drilling company try to get to safety after a mysterious earthquake devastates their deepwater research and drilling facility located at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.I like this movie not because of what happens during it's 95 minutes but because of the idea behind it. Because underwater horror movies are few and far between and I will take what I can get god damn it! (7, 5I, 2E)
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsBruce CampbellEmbeth DavidtzMarcus GilbertWhen Ash Williams is accidentally transported to 1300 A.D., he must retrieve the Necronomicon and battle an army of the dead in order to return home. The effects were suprisingly good and a lot the jokes landed for me. Not to mention Bruce Campbell is an amazing actor who really gives it his all. (7, 3I, 4E)
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsJack NicholsonShelley DuvallDanny LloydA family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future. How ingrained into pop culture this movie is ruined a lot of the impact because I knew all the good stuff before it happened but the ambience of the movie was awesome and definitely worth the watch despite the twists and turns begin a little worn down. (3I, 4E)
- DirectorJason WolinerStarsSacha Baron CohenMaria BakalovaTom HanksBorat returns to America from Kazakhstan to America, this time to reveal more about the American culture, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the political elections.I liked the father daughter relationship but it is clear that COVID sent this movie off course. I also dislike the move away from the camera perspective as some scenes were clearly not filmed by someone in the scene unlike the first one which was smart to stick to the gimmick. I hope they make a third one after all this. (6, I3, E3)
- DirectorMichael LembeckStarsTim AllenMartin ShortElizabeth MitchellSanta, a.k.a. Scott Calvin, is faced with double-duty: how to keep his new family happy and how to stop Jack Frost from taking over Christmas.I actually like the plot fine, it's stupid they made a third one of these but the plot is creative but it drags for so long, it takes an hour for the actual plot to start and by then the movie is basically over. This one is a lot worse than the first two and should not be watched. (5, 2 for I, 3 for E)
- DirectorBennett MillerStarsBrad PittRobin WrightJonah HillOakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to assemble a baseball team on a lean budget by employing computer-generated analysis to acquire new players.Good actors and a good story but my god the pacing. This movie did not need to be 2 hours long and given it's length it didn't need to brush over as many details it did. (5, 3I, 2E)
