My favorite Companions of the Classic Series Doctor Who.

1. Peter Purves

Actor | Girl in a Black Bikini

Peter Purves was born in New Longton, Lancashire on 10 February 1939. After leaving school he took a four-year teacher-training course. In 1961, after only one year as a teacher, he turned to acting, initially with the Barrow-in-Furness Repertory Company and later with the Wimbleton Theatre Company.

Played Steven Tyler. Called out and asserted himself against the doctor several times. Thought quick on his feet and quite a bit of fun as you watch his few stories.

2. Sarah Sutton

Actress | Doctor Who

Sarah Sutton was born on 12 December 1961 and began her acting career at the age of seven when, while attending the Elm Hurst Ballet School, she was picked to play the part of Roo in a Phoenix Theatre production of "Winnie the Pooh". By the age of eleven she had landed a number of TV roles, ...

Nyssa was a woman who was far smarter than those in the Tardis, never was arrogant. Unfortunately with so many cooks in the kitchen, not much was used of her in large aspects.

3. Lalla Ward

Actress | Doctor Who: Shada

Lalla Ward born Sarah Ward, daughter of Lord Bangor - Edward Ward - and his writer wife, Marjorie Banks. She always wanted to act, paint and draw, and so joined the Central School of Speech and Drama in 1967. When she left in 1970, it was straight into a part in the Hammer film Vampire Circus (1972)...

Romana II often would confuse me with being the Doctor at times which i would had been fine with a lady timelord spin off with her own adventures. The chemistry between her and Tom Baker under the pen of someone like Douglas Adams was exquisite.

4. Louise Jameson

Actress | Doctor Who

Louise Jameson is a classically trained actress whose first love is the stage, but she also became known to millions of British television viewers through her roles in such hugely popular television series as Doctor Who (1963), Tenko (1981), Bergerac (1981) and EastEnders (1985).

Jameson had formal ...

While Leela's appearance was to tantalize men with her One Million Years BC ripoff she was the most intelligent warrior companions of the doctor. Her insight in what she was observing often startled the doctor. Never judge this book by her cover or you may get a janis thorn.

5. Elisabeth Sladen

Actress | Doctor Who

Elisabeth Sladen was born in Liverpool, England. She attended drama school for two years before joining the local repertory theatre in her home town of Liverpool. She met actor Brian Miller during her first production there and they were later married after meeting again in Manchester, three years ...

Yes she would be #1 to a lot of Doctor Who but i think for me the others came to my mind first. The attribute that sticks out to me is her tenacity towards the Doctor and others who would try to marginalize her. Someone definitely for girls to look up to

6. Frazer Hines

Actor | Emmerdale Farm

Frazer Hines has a particular distinction in the world of Doctor Who (1963) as the most prolific companion in the original 26-year run of the series; only the first four Doctors, William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton, Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, appeared in more episodes. He was born and raised in ...

Not the sharpest knife in the collection he was perceptive and by the end of his run, came into his own as a fierce dependable ally.
