“Have the Protocol Droid’s mind wiped.”
When the first two prequels showed C-3PO interacting with Obi-Wan Kenobi, fans were justifiably confused; if these two have met before, why didn’t C-3PO comment on this in the original Star Wars? In the final prequel, George Lucas closes that plot hole, but does so in just about the laziest way possible.
After Padme passes away during child birth, Senator Bail Organa (Jimmy Smits) decides that the Protocol Droid (C-3PO) needs to have his mind wiped. Wait, why was this necessary? And why was it okay for R2-D2 to keep said memories? It all seemed fairly arbitrary, and stuck out like a sore thumb at the time (and still does, frankly). And looking back now, it turns out it was one of the last lines in the movie!
