1. Corner Gas (2004–2009)

Probably the most successful Canadian show of all time, starring Brent Butt!
2. SCTV (1976–1981)

The staff of Melonville's TV station put on programming that is unique in its own silly way.
This show and its variations that came after it was a groundbreaking and still hilarious sketch series. One of the very best of all time, featuring some all time comedy legends (John Candy, Catherine O'Hara, Dave Thomas, Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, Andrea Martin and more)!
3. This Hour Has 22 Minutes (1992– )
This skit-filled Canadian comedy show pokes fun at the Canadian government and other national happenings.
The show has been running for more than 20 years and even though Rick Mercer is gone and so are May Walsh, Greg Thomey and others who have come and gone over the seasons, original and hilarious cast member Cathy Jones is still there.
4. The Kids in the Hall (1988–1994)

Kind of a weird show but those who liked it really loved it, me included! Maybe Don McKellar's best work.

OK so a lot of people hated it but it was definitely a cult hit and for people like me it was incredibly original and hilarious! One of the best animated shows this country has ever produced (sorry Chilly Beach).

11. Republic of Doyle (2010–2014)

A CBC series I loved that only got one season about a young public defender, her co-workers and many clients.

Hugely successful series from the 1990's about a Mountie who is sent to work at the Canadian embassy in Chicago, where he ends up partnering with a street wise Chicago cop and fighting "real" crime. Starring Paul Gross.

17. Todd and the Book of Pure Evil (2010– )

A stoner metalhead named Todd Smith, his crushee Jenny, his best friend Curtis, and the geeky Hannah, search their high school for a mayhem-causing Satanic spell book, while being opposed by Atticus, the evil guidance councillor.
The title says it all! Either you watched it or you didn't. Fun, original and super campy.

19. Kenny vs. Spenny (2002– )

Two best friends, Kenny Hotz and Spencer Rice, face each other in various competitions. At the end of each episode, the loser gets humiliated.
Two friends fight it out every week on this reality series, where they challenge each other to do stupid stunts (i.e. who can gain the most weight) and the loser has to do a humiliating challenge.

Classic Canadian TV comedy series. Never seen it but I'm sure all our parents watched it, it seems to be incredibly famous and well loved!

Another old sketch series, kind of weird and really racy, starring Bob Einstein.

This show lasted a few seasons and then returned years later, also on CBC. Very funny and original show about the self-centered manager of a newsroom and his employees.

29. Puppets Who Kill (2002–2006)

The series takes place in a halfway house for very bad puppets and features four felonious puppet inmates who are doing time with their human caseworker as they wait until that glorious day.
Dan Redican stars as a social worker who runs a halfway house for criminals. The interesting thing though is that all of the criminals happen to be puppets... some of them pretty sociopathic, and even homicidal.
