Cast: The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is a comic book story by Don Rosa about Scrooge McDuck, the uncle of Donald Duck and the richest duck in the world who is named after Ebenezer Scrooge from the classic novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. In writing and drawing this story, Don Rosa went out of his way to reference facts about Scrooge's life in the stories of Carl Barks, Scrooge's creator. In Rosa's own words, "The main reason I accepted the assignment was just for the fun of it, the fan-boy challenge of taking into account every 'fact' concerning Scrooge McDuck's early life that was ever revealed in one of Carl Barks' classic stories, no matter how minute or obscurely buried the morsel of history might have been. If Scrooge made a comment about his youth in the third balloon of the fifth panel of the seventh page of the second story in some comic in 1957, as long as it was a story written by Barks, that fact is mentioned somewhere in this series". At the same time, Rosa emphasizes that this is not an "official" account of Scrooge's life, but instead it is his own interpretation. The story follows the main events of Scrooge's life between 1877 and 1947, when the story Christmas on Bear Mountain, Scrooge's first appearance, was released.
