Absolute best television series to binge watch. Each title is serial (continuing storyline) with a very high IMDb rating. If you find my list useful, you can thank me by checking out my blog "Socially Urban":
Also, if you're into foreign tv series that have English subtitles available, here's my list of the absolute best: [link]http://www.imdb.com/list/ls073300010/[/link]

1. The Wire (2002–2008)
TV-MA | 59 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller
Baltimore drug scene, seen through the eyes of drug dealers and law enforcement.
Easily one of the best tv dramas every created. If you think this series is just a typical detective/cop/bad guy type of show then you're 100% wrong. It does have some of the elements you might find in a police drama but it's so much more than just that. I have never met anyone who watched and didn't like this show.
2. Carnivàle (2003–2005)
TV-MA | 55 min | Drama, Fantasy, Mystery
During the Great Depression, an Oklahoma farm boy and a charismatic minister learn that they are key players in a proxy war being fought between Heaven and Hell.
This series is completely unique. I can't think of anything like it on television past or present. The cast is outstanding, the writing is amazing, the characters are interesting and complex... just an all around amazing show. The first two episodes moves a little slow but stick with it because it really takes off after episode 3.
3. The Returned (2012– )

It's in French but you can find ones with English subtitles floating around the internet, or just buy the full series. It's totally worth it. I never liked foreign movies with subtitles until I watched this series. I promise you'll be hooked 15 minutes into the first episode. It's just that good.
4. Empire (2015– )
TV-14 | 42 min | Drama, Music
A hip-hop mogul must choose a successor among his three sons who are battling for control over his multi-million dollar company, while his ex-wife schemes to reclaim what is hers.

TV-MA | 55 min | Crime, Drama, History
A show set in the late 1800s, revolving around the characters of Deadwood, South Dakota; a town of deep corruption and crime.
I usually hate westerns of all kinds so that's what kept me from giving this series a chance when it was on television. Right after Breaking Bad aired its final episode I was looking for something new to watch and decided to give this a chance. I'm so glad I did because it's another great series I'd put in my top 5 of best tv series ever created. It's just that good. So if you are like me and hate westerns, please give this one a chance. I promise it's worth it.
7. Sense8 (2015–2018)
TV-MA | 60 min | Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi

9. Orange Is the New Black (2013– )
TV-MA | 59 min | Comedy, Crime, Drama
Convicted of a decade old crime of transporting drug money to an ex-girlfriend, normally law abiding Piper Chapman is sentenced to a year and a half behind bars to face the reality of how life changing prison can really be.
Another one of my favorites. It's quirky, unique, upbeat, with both light and dark humor. This series pulls you in right from the 1st episode. After I binged watched the entire 1st season one weekend, I made my friends watch it so I'd have someone to talk about it with. It's one of those shows where something crazy happens and you have to pause it and call someone and laugh about it. There are many many laugh out loud moments throughout Orange Is The New Black.
11. House of Cards (2013– )
TV-MA | 51 min | Drama
A Congressman works with his equally conniving wife to exact revenge on the people who betrayed him.
If you liked the original British version of this amazing series, then you'll love this one just as much. I'm very into politics so my interest in this series may be colored by that, but I think anyone who likes well written smart television will love this show as well. With everything happening in American politics right now, it's easy to assume that the main character (played by Kevin Spacey) may not be that far from reality.
13. Mad Men (2007–2015)
TV-14 | 47 min | Drama
A drama about one of New York's most prestigious ad agencies at the beginning of the 1960s, focusing on one of the firm's most mysterious but extremely talented ad executives, Donald Draper.
After hearing all the hype about this show for years I decided to give it a chance. After I finished the first episode I thought it was terrible. I thought the story moved way too slow, the characters were uninteresting, and the whole thing was just dull. Then after reading some encouraging comments by fans of the show on IMDb message boards, I decided to watch 2 more episodes to see if it gets better. I'm so happy I did because now I absolutely LOVE it. It took 3 or 4 episodes before my opinion of the show started to change. After watching the 5th episode I started to appreciate the way the characters were being developed. By the 6th episode it was 100% love. I binged watched the first two seasons and now I'm about to start season 3.

TV-MA | 46 min | Drama
The story of a group of British teens who are trying to grow up and find love and happiness despite questionable parenting and teachers who more want to be friends (and lovers) rather than authority figures.
Seasons 1 & 2 are phenomenal. It kinda goes down hill after that.

45 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

TV-MA | 50 min | Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi
After a group of people, who meet online, discover a bizarre graphic novel which seems to hold mysterious answers, they find themselves being tracked down by a merciless organization known merely as 'The Network'.
I'd like to describe this show but I can't think of a way to describe it. It's extremely unique. All I can tell you is watch it and see for yourself. I loved it and so did my boyfriend.
30. Game of Thrones (2011– )
TV-MA | 57 min | Action, Adventure, Drama
Nine noble families fight for control over the mythical lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for thousands of years.
31. Misfits (2009–2013)
TV-MA | 60 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy
A group of young offenders doing community service get struck by lightning during a storm, and begin to develop superpowers.
It's young, it's hip, it's fly, it's crass, it's british, it's a unique spin on the super hero genre. They aren't trying to save the world, just themselves (lol). The first two seasons with the original cast are really good. After main cast members left in season 3 the show's quality and appeal suffered. It lost that special chemistry that made it interesting. But the first two season are pretty incredible and well worth a watch.
32. Bates Motel (2013–2017)

*This is a Swedish series but if you can find it with English subtitles it's well worth the trouble. I did a google search and within minutes found full episodes with subtitles, so it's not hard to find. I also want to point out that it's nothing like the new American tv series with the same title. It's very different.*
In a parallel present the artificial human has come into its own. Robots no longer have anything robot-like about them. New technology and advancements in the field of science have made it possible to manufacture a product - a kind of mechanized servant - that is so similar to a real human that it can often be considered a perfectly good substitute. The Human Robot (HUBOT) have also given rise to new problems and dilemmas. Thorny legal questions have increasingly started to occupy people's minds and are still waiting to be answered: Who is responsible for the actions of a hubot? When humans make copies of themselves, which are so close to the real thing they form emotional bonds, the questions arises - What does it really mean to be 'human'?
