“ 2015, 19: Wonderful. It is about art, death, love, illness, and time. We see the main character's life at important stages, but to him and to the audience much of his life is unknown. The movie's triumph is its combination of literal facts with metaphorical events in order to describe certain feelings.

The reality of the film is not the reality we experience. It is much weirder, but real enough to be relatable. The differences between the film and the real world initially seem humorous, but as the film deviates further from reality, the implications of its world become clear.

If we were watching through the eyes of a neutral third-party, "Synecdoche, New York" could happen in real life. Although the main character cannot separate his delusions from his life, the film is far more than a series of hallucinations.

I recommend this movie to anyone who is able to enjoy ambiguity in movies. It is from one of the co-writers of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". ” - Anonymous-733

It's incredible. The soundtrack (which sold over 15 million copies) is joyous. Visually, a soft focus and tilted camera angles give Saturday Night Fever a dreamy look that reinforces its story themes. The story is amazing; it's about a bunch of sleazy people. The sleaze is a logical extension of the area and time these people live in.

Saturday Night Fever makes the audience feel sad for every jerk that walks into the picture, sad that people could grow up to be jerks and not realize they're jerks. Sad that there are jerks in real life who could have been doctors or engineers if they were raised in loving homes. Instead they go to the disco.

It's a glimpse into a time that may or may not have really existed. I'm always glad to step back in time with a great movie, and Saturday Night Fever does a great job at taking me back to the 70s. It doesn't matter if the film is stylized or not. What's important is that in 1977 people could go see this movie and find a bit of the real 70s in it. Schindler's List is fictional yet emotional; this is factual yet horrifyingly routine and unremarkable. I struggle more than with any other film on where this belongs relative to the others, or if it even belongs on this list at all.

The instinct before I watched it was that it could, it *should*, be abridged. After watching, and after reading the director's comments, I'm no longer sure. Everything serves a purpose.
