“ Jesse is broke therefore he has to retreat from glorious San Francisco back to his hometown. Definitely a controversial film, it basically contains people talking, people seducing each other, and people *beep* Really explicit, it's more and deeper than general porn but it IS like porn. Narration wise I think the feature version is better than the short version. (yeah I watched both.) (C+) ” - chienrene

Director: Marco Filiberti
“ I think this film is about the dark sexual tension around two same sex characters, but to build that up, they stuff the film with endless family drama/couple problems. It is european so naturally you've had to expect the leisurely pacing. (C+) ” - chienrene

“ And people say horror films are closets for concealed sexual urges. (and no that's not the reason why I love this genre.) I'm not quite sure whether the filmmaker had the intention to craft this film into a homoerotic adolescent angst. But I'm sure as hell not to complain nor object this kind of decision. (C-) ” - chienrene

“ This is Clark Gregg's directorial debut, with cult actor Sam Rockwell as the lead. I'm not a die hard Gregg fan but I think by watching this film you can see his stellar/fascinating personality. As for the film itself, interesting premise, Rockwell was the saving grace, but oh boy it was constructed slovenly. (C+) ” - chienrene

“ Mystery after mystery, Almodóvar brilliantly crafted a noir film with homoerotic sense and underground subjects. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. A 15-year-old Long Island boy loses everything and everyone he knows, soon becoming involved in a relationship with a much older man. (97 mins.)
Director: Michael Cuesta
“ Hmm, My English isn't good enough for this film, I shall try and fail miserably. First of all, there's a forced NC-17 rating, shame on you MPAA. Second of all, this is one special dose of a coming of age story that makes you feel peaceful and melancholy afterwards. It is about a boy who loses everything has to find his inner strength and stand on his two feet. Yes there are sexual subjects in it, the most controversial of them all is the pedophilia character, a middle aged man, who, actually offers our protagonist care and protection, in exchange for maybe a consensual carnal relationship. In this quid pro quo world that seems pretty honest in my eyes. Anyway, a nice and satisfying film for me personally indeed. (B+) ” - chienrene

Sensitive, somewhat effeminate farm-boy Duncan Mudge can barely cope with grim, since Ma's death even gloomier father Edgar's manly expectations... (94 mins.)
Director: Michael Burke
“ I think I'm gradually in love with Emile Hirsch, there's something about him that's weird and fascinating and keeping my eyes glued to this little guy. OK back to the movie. It's a rather delicate coming of age story about a boy who's mourning his deceased mother by cherishing her remnant and taking care of a chicken; he's having a hard time to let go and meet others' expectations. It was cruel to watch really, cause I felt for the china-like young man, throughout the film I was afraid that someone would break him. I talk too much, overall a nice indie drama. (B+) ” - chienrene
