Actors I Would Never Hire As A Casting Director [I am] And Why

The truth about what really goes on when we see a certain actor's name go by in casting.

There are more than these 9 but this is an example of the types of problems that cause actors their jobs. I know most actors are actively involved in their own IMDB pages now and I hope this serves as an example of what not to do. We want to hire you. We want you to succeed and we want to make production happy. However these things strongly depend on your behavior as a professional.

My two cents

Katherine Heigl
Katherine Marie Heigl was born on November 24, 1978 in Washington, D.C., to Nancy Heigl (née Engelhardt), a personnel manager, and Paul Heigl, an accountant and executive. Her father is of German/Swiss-German and Irish descent, and her mother is of German ancestry. A short time after her birth, the family moved to New Canaan...
“ No real surprise here. When her name rolls around it is a collective groan for the most part. There is a reason she is in a Nyquil commercial and not the latest box office hit. Known for being ungrateful and a primadonna. Picture your friend we all have that always says they are sorry for what they have done but they never look or seem sorry. Not a smart move considering the amount of similar types that are more skilled. She should have stayed with Greys. It is too much work to work with her. ” - EricaLScastingbabe

“ Katherine's co-star in Greys. Boy does this show get scandal. Half of Hollywood is gay or someone close to them is including the people who hire you and make or break careers. Bad move. For me and many people I know in casting we could even accept he came into Hollywood with a homophobic outlook depending on where you grow up but after you spend day after day , year after year and long hours around homosexual people and your attitude has not shifted and opened up that is a real problem. Isaiah has been struggling to get work since. I have heard he has had some doors open very recently as possible comebacks but the over all feeling for this actor is generally not a good one. We have many actors of his type as well to chose from. Why cause ourselves grief? Every production is going to have at least one gay actors, director, crew why take the chance. ” - EricaLScastingbabe

Alex Pettyfer
Alexander Richard Pettyfer was born in Hertfordshire and raised in Windsor. His mother, Lee (Robinson), is an interior designer. His father, Richard Pettyfer, is a fellow actor. His parents divorced and Alex now has a younger half-brother, James, from his mother's re-marriage to a property developer, Michael Ireland. James is a junior tennis player...
“ This kid has found some success but is very difficult to work with. He has a fan base but he is difficult and demands more money than he is worth. This puts us in a predicament do we do the pitch with the agent and risk being associated with a potential meltdown over money and ego either before we get to set or on set as the past has shown or roll the dice and hope everything goes smoothly. I wouldn't say he is unbookable he is not but with the way things are going and the scathing letter in The Hollywood Reporter about him and his behavior it is not unfair to question the possibilities. ” - EricaLScastingbabe

January Jones
Actress, Mad Men
January Kristen Jones was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, but for the first decade of her life, she was raised in Hecla, a small town of some 400 souls, in the Mount Rushmore State. She is the daughter of Karen Sue (Cox), a sporting goods store manager, and Marvin Roger Jones, a gym teacher and fitness director...
“ January Jones has had a reputation for being a b***h for a long time. This has been publically confirmed by many other actors, directors, and so on. However she is also a nightmare for casting. Her skills are limited at best. Her range hardly exists but her attitude certainly does. What does she have to offer to a production besides a name we recognize? Jones also does not help her own cause by publically going on the record saying offensive quotes. We read Marie Claire too January! ” - EricaLScastingbabe

Maggie Gyllenhaal
Academy Award-nominated actress Maggie Gyllenhaal was born on November 16, 1977, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in New York City. Her parents, Naomi Foner (née Achs) and Stephen Gyllenhaal, are both filmmakers, and her brother is actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her mother is from an Ashkenazi Jewish family, while her father has Swedish, English, Swiss-German, and German ancestry...
“ Maggie is notoriously difficult to work with. As recognizable as her name is the first thing to come to mind when hearing her name is the allowance on set that will be needed for her difficult behavior and the type of people we need to cast to allow for as smooth of a production as possible. ” - EricaLScastingbabe

6.
Sarah Paulson
Sarah Paulson was born on December 17, 1974 in Tampa, Florida, to Catharine Gordon (Dolcater) and Douglas Lyle Paulson II. She spent most of her early years in New York and Maine, before settling in Manhattan to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the High School for Performing Arts. Although...
“ Sarah has done quite well but her reputation is becoming more and more difficult and demanding. She has been replaced in roles for her demands. These types of things make everyone's jobs more difficult too. I do enjoy American Horror Story though. ” - EricaLScastingbabe

7.
Val Kilmer
Actor, Heat
Val Kilmer was born in Los Angeles, California, to Gladys Swanette (Ekstadt) and Eugene Dorris Kilmer, who was a real estate developer and aerospace equipment distributor. His mother, born in Indiana, was from a Swedish family, and his father was from Texas. Val studied at Hollywood's Professional's School and...
“ Wondering why you haven't seen Val around lately? His behavior on sets have dropped him to almost no noticeable career though he is scheduled to appear in the next Terrance Malick film which will be interesting to see how big of a role he plays. His reputation proceeds him. As do his dangerous outbursts. Here's to hoping he has pulled himself together. ” - EricaLScastingbabe

8.
Jesse Eisenberg
Curly haired and with a fast-talking voice, Jesse Eisenberg is a movie actor, known for his Academy Award nominated role as Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 film The Social Network. He has also starred in the films The Squid and the Whale, Adventureland, The Education of Charlie Banks, 30 Minutes or Less...
“ Jesse is a good actor but his reputation for his behavior isn't quite as good. Known for his self important attitude this reflects badly on the production he working on and promoting possibly turning potential customers away. Actors need to remember they will be nothing without the public and the public views you through the media. ” - EricaLScastingbabe

“ A name you won't recognize but decided to add him after an incident last night. Not with him directly or his attitude but his reputation for certain requests. While going over possibles for a new feature I pulled Eric commenting on that he was a good fit for the description of the character. My partner and head CD on the film axed him right away. Said absolutely not. Why not I ask he has decent credits, reel, the right look we should bring him to producers. Absolutely not she says. Informing me Eric has developed a reputation for asking for his girlfriend to have a role in films hearing this from 3 different people and it is something she doesn't want to deal with. This is extremely unprofessional and when someone in casting says they heard from people we don't mean a friend's cousin or our nosy neighbor we mean other casting directors, producers, or directors. This was disappointing but I ask anyway, is she known? Is she a good actor? No she says, she saw her many times when casting TV years back and not a good actor and has a bad reputation of her own. Is she beautiful I ask, it's not the same but Juliette Lewis made Brad Pitt famous on his looks he couldn't act back then. No not beautiful at all she says, the opposite. My partner tells me she doesn't have time and doesn't want to deal with either of them. This is a shame. He was a perfect fit for the lead in a feature. Actors, please this is unprofessional and makes you a mockery. It gets around and is easily verified her only roles are branched from Eric as per IMDB. If your girlfriend, boyfriend, partner or spouse can not secure jobs on their own there is a reason let them earn it. Do not ruin your own reputation or you could be jobless too. ” - EricaLScastingbabe
