10 years ago this would have been a great film; a decade too late to make a classic. Let's face it Al Pacino's acting ability has not aged well. The mere fact he starred alongside Adam Sandler in what is quite possibly the worst film ever "Jack and Jill" shows how far Pacino has fell. The man is constantly stated as being the greatest actor of all time. In the past? Yes. Now? Not a chance. As for Christopher Walken he can still shine in films (Seven Psychopaths), but he doesn't in this. Alan Arkin is the best of the three. 10 years ago this wouldn't have been the case and it would have been a much better film. It is somewhat of a let down.

When you've teamed up for a film like Wedding Crashers in the past then no matter what comes next it is going to be very hard to top it. For me the whole thing was very lazy; i mean Vaughn and Owen are funny actors; and i think they could've came up with this kind of story in their sleep. And thats the whole criticism right there. It's obvious, it's lackluster; very stale. It has a little whimper of comedy now and then, but 2 aging guys trying get a grip on technology is something i could get for free by going to my grandparents and telling them to open a facebook account. I would probably be more amused by that. And bringing back in Ferrell for a cameo was just another lackadaisical move. Very, very average.

Although the idea of a sequel to one of my 2010 favourites seemed exciting there was a continual doubt in my mind that it wouldn't be anywhere near as good as the first. And sadly it was the case. Even the addition of Jim Carrey couldn't maintain the shock factor from the first film; which is what made it so good. The "innocent" little girl who could transform into a foul mouthed ass kicker, the brutal violence, it was all unexpected. So when you're watching Kick Ass 2 you are expecting this, therefore it loses it's shock value. Still a really good film, but a big step down from the first.

If you had just seen the poster of this film, you would have been anticipating a great film; the names Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are enough to convince you that it would be. But if you then combined that with a viewing of the trailer, you would have downgraded that anticipation as it was obvious this was going to be your run of the mill, standard action film. Now in saying that, it is a good film and i enjoyed it. Denzel and Wahlberg bounce well off each other, but the forced comedy raises eyebrows at points.
40. The Lone Ranger (2013)
PG-13 | 150 min | Action, Adventure, Western
Native American warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice.
Votes: 198,530 | Gross: $89.30M
I went in expecting the worst and came out wondering what all the fuss was about. The reviews where mostly negative; ranging from disappointment to some scathing reviews on what was supposed to be a horrible film. But it wasn't, yes it was average at best, but it was certainly watchable. The action scenes where great and at points it had some witty comedy. Now that is basically all the positives i can take out of it. The acting was drab and the layout was very questionable, but it wasn't the worst film i've seen and the criticism didn't match the film.

R | 129 min | Action, Comedy, Crime

Votes: 175,810 | Gross: $49.88M
Now this is a strange one; based on real events which involved murders, gruesome deaths, crime after crime, all reenacted from a true story, yet it's hysterical. All because (although the events where hideous) they where committed by brain-dead, clueless wannabes. It makes for a great comedy. All 3 of the main characters where excellent and i type that with a heap of hesitance as Dwayne Johnson is not my favorite actor; i do not like Dwayne Johnson, but he was great; him, Wahlberg and Mackie bounced off each other to create some funny moments.
The film - as chaotic as it is - just works, and makes for a really good film. Recommend it.

Welcome back Jake Gyllenhall! Ever since Donnie Darko i had been wondering where he had went. As films like 2012 and End of Watch came and went i had my doubts, but although his performance in Prisoners wasn't amazing it was still a glimpse of hope that the same man who expertly played Donnie Darko was on the way back. There are a lot of good things about this film; there is tension galore and to add to Jake Gyllenhall, there where other strong showings from Hugh Jackman and others. The story brings out the inner detective in us all and has us guessing throughout, but with all the good things there where also some downpoints.
First of all it dragged on; everyone was fidgeting as their backsides no doubt slipped into a coma. Although 2 and a half hours is quite standard in a intricate film, it felt like over 4. Terrence Howard's character was very annoying in parts and speaking of annoying. There is the case of Gyllenhall's twitch. That twitch drove me bloody mad. Now of course they are trying to convey a nervous side to Detective Loki (Gyllenhall), but if it is not a natural twitch then it is going to stand out. And it stood out; looking more like he was having a nap every 10 seconds due to the longevity of the twitch. Of course i am being very persnickety, but it bugged me a lot.
Overall a really good film, with great acting and an intense storyline that keeps you guessing.

The Lamberts believe that they have defeated the spirits that have haunted their family, but they soon discover that evil is not beaten so easily.
Votes: 128,113 | Gross: $83.59M
The Insidious films do receive their fair share of criticism, but for some reason i have enjoyed both paranormal outings. Yes, it's very cheesy and pointless at points; and although it is a horror that quite frankly isn't scary there's a charming chill that breezes throughout the course of the film. It's very direct and gets to the point. Apart from it being very basic, there wasn't much wrong with it for me. I enjoyed it.

Now as someone who is not a fan of the soppy rom-coms, this didn't have much chance of impressing me, but i gave it a chance. 10 minutes in i was wishing i didn't. It is horrific to say the least, i hated everything about it. The delusional plot, the castration of comedy and mostly the absolute horror show of acting by the lead actress. I refuse to even look up her name as it's not worth it; her style of acting can only be described as someone who permanently tries to convince themselves they are not drunk, when they slur and bob their head about and make faces that make you want to slap them. Just stay away from this.

Votes: 17,007 | Gross: $0.20M
Uneventful, slow, dry and rather lethargic; yet it was quite a good film. It doesn't try too hard; it's a simple story, with 4 characters in all and hones in on recollections rather than in time events. There are some moments that you can't help but laugh and by the end you really start to connect with the two main characters, but by then it's too late. Still fairly enjoyable.
