Sonny John Moore (born January 15, 1988), professionally known as Skrillex, is an American electronic musician from Los Angeles, California, well known for his role as the former frontman for the post-hardcore band From First to Last.

On February 27, 2007, Moore announced he had left From First to Last to pursue a solo career. After months of releasing demos via Myspace, Moore played on the Team Sleep Tour with a full band. Moore made several demo albums available on this tour, limited to about 30 per show. As one of the first dubstep producers and DJs in North America, he has played a significant role in the genre's growth in popularity, and also the development of a more aggressive approach to dubstep production. His first release was in 2007. Excision's signature sound takes influence from the morphing basslines of drum and bass, the aggressive energy of heavy metal, and the laid back vibes of hip hop.
