1. Game of Thrones (2011– )
TV-MA | 57 min | Adventure, Drama, Fantasy
Nine noble families fight for control over the mythical lands of Westeros, while a forgotten race returns after being dormant for thousands of years.
I could write about the amazing qualities of this show for days, but to sum it up in one line. THIS IS NOT A SHOW TO BE RIVALED!
2. The Walking Dead (2010– )
TV-MA | 44 min | Drama, Horror, Thriller
Sheriff Deputy Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma to learn the world is in ruins, and must lead a group of survivors to stay alive.
If you are big into perfect character development then this is the show for you! The most important lesson to be learned from this show is that GUNS ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS (contrary to popular belief) The loud sound of a gun firing attracts more zombies. Stealth is your key to survival.
3. Sons of Anarchy (2008–2014)
TV-MA | 45 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller
A man in his early 30s struggles to find a balance in his life between being a new dad and his involvement in a motorcycle club.
There are no other shows like this. This a very original Television show with shocking twist and a fairly realistic view into a motorcycle "club". I will say that the show is fearful of killing many characters; don't get me wrong they kill off a decent amount of characters but nothing like the amount of people killed off in "Game of Thrones" or "The Walking Dead" for Example.
4. Lost (2004–2010)
TV-14 | 44 min | Adventure, Drama, Fantasy
The survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island.
Lost is such a complex and beautifully written show that it is one of the hardest task to even begin to explain it to someone. When I used to watch "Lost" I would literally get lost while watching "Lost", I am talking hours and hours of non-stop marathons where time seemed to fade away faster than a Ferrari.
5. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
TV-MA | 49 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller
A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine in order to secure his family's future.
At first I just watched this show because I ran out of other shows to watch. I watched all the way to season 4 then just stopped watching because I truly wasn't that interested. I really think the problem was that I wasn't getting involved with the show, it was more of background music than a show but now that I have come to "invest" my time into the show I have come to love it. It truly is a great show but what truly takes it to the next level is Bryan Cranston's acting skills, he is one of the best actors that I have ever seen.
6. Dexter (2006–2013)
TV-MA | 53 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery
By day, mild-mannered Dexter is a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami police. But at night, he is a serial killer who only targets other murderers.
Just like any other show it needs to come to an end before it ruins it's reputation, very soon would be a good stopping point! It is however an incredible show that makes you question what is "morally wright" verses what your actual wants, needs and values are. Do these criminals deserve to be killed for their crimes? Most people would scream YESSS at the television while watching the show, but if someone where to ask them about a real life situation they would see it as a disgusting crime that is unforgivable even though the criminal that was murdered "deserved" the death he was given.
7. Heroes (II) (2006–2010)
TV-14 | 45 min | Drama, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
Common people discover that they have super powers. Their lives intertwine as a devastating event must be prevented.
All I can say is that season 1 is a work of art and that's all.
8. Supernatural (2005– )
TV-14 | 44 min | Drama, Fantasy, Horror
Two brothers follow their father's footsteps as "hunters", fighting evil supernatural beings of many kinds, including monsters, demons, and gods that roam the earth.
Like I stated earlier all shows need to come to an end and this shows end should have been last season because they are running out of a good storyline to follow. That being said it is a masterpiece!
9. 666 Park Avenue (2012–2013)
60 min | Drama, Fantasy, Mystery
If you could make one wish, what would it be? And what would you do to get it? At 666 Park Avenue, all of your dreams and burning desires can come true: wealth, sex, love, power, even ... See full summary »
This show is just starting up but it has already grabbed my attention! I am very interested to see if this show continues to develop into an unforgettable show.
10. Prison Break (2005–2017)
TV-14 | 44 min | Action, Crime, Drama
Due to a political conspiracy, an innocent man is sent to death row and his only hope is his brother, who makes it his mission to deliberately get himself sent to the same prison in order to break the both of them out, from the inside.
Honestly I am just putting this show up on my list so that I have an even 10 number of shows. Season 1 is great! But like many shows the other season try way to hard to stay popular and get overly complex to an annoying point.
