“ Another tough one. This is a pioneer of found footage horror movies, despite the fact that the first part is shot in traditional way. The story involes a group of researchers who stumble across a camera in the wild forests in South America. The footage is later shown as a video prove of what happened to a group of journalists who went to the jungle on a search for cannibalistic tribes. Bear in mind this is very violent and disturbing movie with scenes of explicit violence towards humans and animals. Overall; the movie is not that bad. It has a strong message about true "savages" hidden inside of us and leading us to do horrible things. I won't say I like this movie, but at the same time I can't say there is something wrong with it. I just don't like torture porn stuff, that's all.

“ A lot of people are saying this is one of the best movies of all time. I disagree. While it's not bad and has a perfect combination of black humor and brutal violence, it's just not working for me on the same level as any other great film. The main problem I have with this movie is that it's trying to be "too artsy". I didn't expect to see some hard-boiled cowboy doing a rampage around the town, but sometimes I felt like the dialogs are there just to fill the time and nothing more. Instead of going "straight-to-the-point" it's just staying at one spot without any explanation. And there's also one personal remark I have; I hated every damn character in it. Really really hate.

“ This is not found footage horror, but more like a "live" broadcast of a TV show with ghost hunters. Trust me, it's not as boring as it sounds; this is not a typical ghost hunt show, where the hosts are jumping in the air at every damn natural sound... it's creepy, well acted and has a lot of hidden "easter eggs". I won't say it's the best ghost movie out there, but it's pretty much as good as it gets.

“ This movie is reconstruction of infamous MacPherson Tape, which has one of the most disturbin video documents of alien invasion. Some people say it's fake, some say it's true... I don't know, to be honest. All I know is that this movie kicks ass! We rarely see good alien found footage movies and this one is a winner in my book! It starts as a family drama with introduction to the characters, which we care about and continues as intense sci-fi thriller with aliens attacking the family and some of its members fighting back. It's a TV movie but in some scenes is more scary than most of extreme movies out there. Along with The Blair Witch Project, REC, Paranormal Activity this is one of the best found footage flicks out there. Pure gold!

“ There are still endless debates about which movie came out first; The Blair Witch Project of The Last Broadcast. It's understandable why so many people compare these two movies, but to be honest... they don't have that much in common. Yes, there are both happening in the woods but that's pretty much it. The Last Broadcast is more a mockumentary about two eccentric filmmakers, who are trying to rise up the ratings for their own obscure TV show by making a live broadcast of a hunt for infamous Jersey Devil. After couple of days both of them are killed and the main suspect is a strange young man, pretending to have supernatural powers. The purpose of this documentary is to show what really happend to both filmmakers and who is responsible for their deaths.

So, enough about the story, let's talk about actual movie; it's... okay. Nothing special, to be honest. Sure, the background for the movie is fascinating but execution is so-so. I had a problem when the movie was repeating the same damn thing over and over again and after a while I had a feeling like the developers didn't knew what to do with a given material. What about the ending? I must admist; it was stupid, pointless and jump from POV to traditional filming was a big letdown.

Overall, the movie is okay. Not good, but not bad either. It's just a shame how much good material was wasted for no good reason.

“ An ultimate horror classic and one of the best found footage movies I've ever seen. The story is simple; in 1994 three students go to the woods to shoot a documentary about a local witch and after a couple of days they dissapear without a trace. What I like about this movie is that it shows you don't need gore, special effects and CGI to make an effective and scary horror. All you need is convincing actors, creepy atmosphere and the presence of unknown entity, who is haunting the woods. This is a perfect example of found footege movie done right.

“ One of the earliest copycats of The Blair Witch Project but instead of witches and woods this movie has to deal with ghosts and paranormal investigations. My first time watching it was truly a painful experience... maybe I expected too much or something, but on 2nd viewing I began to enjoyed it for what it was. It has a decent creepy atmosphere and some nice jump scares from time to time, but I'm still annoyed with that psychic chick; she's very very irritating at times and moaning over and over again about nothing. Yeah, woman... we need to find a white light... we already know that, move on!

“ This movie is really hard to find. It was availabe on You Tube some years back, but now it's gone. I had a chance to see it and... I hate it the first time, but 2nd time I kind of began to appreciate it. It's a very low budget horror movie about a cursed house in Texas and four people, who get killed there on new year's eve of 1999. It's good for what it is; the acting is avarage, but some scenes are creepy and the whole background about the gates of hell in the middle of the desert is good enough for me. Worth watching if you can find this somewhere.

“ Sometimes I gave certain movies a 2nd chance and The Dark Area, the german copy of The Blair Witch Project - was one of them. The first time I watched it on You Tube and I realised it was only a super fast cut with 25 minutes of all footage. Do yourself a favor and don't watch it, because it really does injustice to the movie. I watched the whole thing now and I must admit that this movie is not that bad. However, there are still a couple of things I didn't like about this flick;

1. The plot about a couple of kids who are wondering in the woods while being hunted by a serial killer is acceptable, but the director never really develops it. Even if you're being careful on detalis, you'll still see many plot holes in the whole story. For example: who is the killer in the woods and what are his motives? They never really explained that, which is fine to add some mystery to it, but if you don't give us not a single clue of what's going on, nobody will care.

2. The acting is very very avarage at best. Since I'm a no-budget filmmaker myself, I understand that you should be glad that someone wants to spare some time for star in the movie, I can forgive this. It's not a horrible acting, but don't expect much.

Now; the things I liked;

1. The atmosphere of the dark woods is superb and because of that there were some decent creepy scenes here and there.

2. The sound effects were repetitive, but decent enough.

3. The shrine with weird branches was a nice touch.

So overall; while this movie suffers from serious problems, I still think it's not that bad. It's decent enough to watch, but don't expect too much from it.

“ This movie is hard to review; it's one of the most notorious and disturbing movies of all time, it's even more disgusting and shocking as Cannibal Holocaust or Salo. August Underground is very realistic simulation of a snuff film, some kind of home-made video diary of two serial killers who like to follow and slowly torture their victims. For the most of the time we're seeing just this; very extreme torture porn, combined with scenes of random things (killers visiting the graveyard, slaughterhouse, rock concert etc.). So... how disturbing this movie really is? To be honest; I'll say it's on the same level as Saw and Hostel, so you're not going to se nothing new here; people are naked and covered with blood and... that's it, nothing amazingly shocking. But more than gore scenes I liked scenes where killers are walking around and do random stuff. What's the point of that scenes? I think Vogel is trying to show that serial killer are not you trypical retarded redneck mutes but everyday people who likes to screw around. It's kind of scary, if you think about it... and for those, who are saying that violence in this movie is disgusting - that's the point. This movie doesn't glorify violence, because it shows what torture and killing really is; something disgusting and disturbing. I admire Vogel for going to extremes, but at the same time I wish this movie had more story to acomplish this goal.

“ Let's get with good points first; the background story of a haunted mental asylum is interesting and it seems the developers put a lot of effort in creating a convincing ghost story and I also liked some of the dialogue about the existence of God, the purpose of religion and how spiritual world can effect our lives.... but that's it. Overall this movie is "okay" for one watch... I've seen worst flicks, but this movie has one BIG problem; for the one of the most haunted places in US, nothing special happens during the whole movie. Some dark figure appears from time to time - but that's it. And the acting is quite lousy, but at least the actors are trying to be convincing and that's a good point. If you don't have nothing better to do in your life, watch this for 100 minutes, but don't expect a lot.

“ Gang Tapes is a found footage crime movie mixed with classics like Menace 2 Society and Boyz n the Hood. A boy receives a stolen videocamera and begins to capture everyday life in a ghetto. The movie itself is not bad, but I was bothered by sooo many cliches and stereotypical potrayal of black people with fast mouth, itchy trigger fingers, a taste for smoking crack and fists for causing mayhem on the streets. It's not that these things are not happening out there, but we've seen them so many times it's more like a cliche or punchline, so even black people make fun of it. But overall this is a decent movie with solid acting and simple, yet predictable plot.

“ This is an interesting movie; The Collingswood Story is told entirely through webcams. I know, I know... it sounds horrible and boring, but trust me... this has to be one of the best shaky cam horror I've seen in years. The story is simple; Rebecca and John are a young students in strong relationship, which is torn apart when Rebecca moves to college in Collingswood. And suprise-suprise; she moves in the house with very dark secret. I won't give away too much, I'm just gonna say; this is an independent gem of found footage horror, because it can scare you without any typlical "jump-scare" scenes. The music, intelligent dialog and whole feeling of happening something horrible are perfect. I can't say nothing more than just this; WATCH THIS!

“ This is a big dissapointment after the first installment of AU. If you think the 1st one didn't make a lot of sense, just showing extreme gore combined with scenes of random crap, you didn't see the sequel, which is even more pointless. I must admit I didn't watch the whole thing, just 1st half of the movie, but that was enough for me. I can tolerate blood in movies to a certain point, but Mordum was way too extreme for my taste; vomiting on dead bodies, having sex with corpses, a man must chop out his own penis and then rape a woman with it... you get the idea. Okay... I must admit there are a couple of scenes I liked and those were not the gory ones; the visit at junkie's home, the constant fights between the main character and his girlfriend... but other than that; no, thanks... I'm really not into extreme gore like this.

“ This is an alien found footage movie and we don't see a lot of them in this genre (don,t know why, aliens are sure one creepy bastards), so I was pretty excited when I got hold of a copy with this movie. The Wicksboro Incident is a story about two young filmmakers trying to uncover a strange incident in the early 50's when the entire population of small Texas Town dissapear without a trace. I won't give much away, but the movie involves experiments with aliens and goverment cover-ups with very "X-files" atmosphere. What can I say about the movie? It has good idea, but kind of mediocre execution. The 1st half of the movie is great and promises a lot, but 2nd part is kind of tiring to watch since walking through the desert and annoying music kind of ruins the whole found footage experience. But in the end I wasn't dissapointed. It's a good movie, but don't expect too much, which is hard, because it delivers a good story but it could be a lot better.

“ One of my favourite found footage movies. It's a video diary of two troubled teenagers, who are planning an assault on their High School. So, as you probably figured it out, this movies is based on Columbine High School massacre in 1999, but it's not focusing on the attack, but more on explaining the motivations of the attackers for this act of violence. It's showing the darker side of growing up on high school, so there're not jocks, geeks, cheerleaders and any other stereotypical characters, made for stupid high school comedy. This is real life about people, who simply don't "fit in" and are facing with enviroment, filled with prejudice and bullying. This is a story about young people, who can't enjoy in their careless era of growing up and are faced with violence, abuse and constant fear of being marked as a "loser". This movie doesn't judge noone and stays away from social commentary, so everything you see is left to viewer to decide. Just remember this; every event has its own reason.

“ My god, that was bad. I always HATE when filmmakers are jumping from 1st person to 3rd person without any sense and this movie is a fine example how flawed this combination is. I know it's a low budget movie, so I didn't expect much from it; the acting is horrible, the camera work is amateur at best and some scenes are just painful to watch when actors are overreacting for no good reason. But like I said; the main problem is constant switching between POV horror and traditional movie which is tedious and makes this stupid movie even more stupid. The sad thing is; this could be a decent flick, because it has some promising creepy scenes, but... like I said; choose one of the filming style and stick with it. It's less annoying that way.

“ The Magician is a mockumentary about a filmmaker, who is following the path of a hired hitman and his everyday life. So we can't espace by compairing this movie to the infamous Man bites dog and I know most of you'll say it's not even close to that "classic". Me, on the other hand, prefer this flick to MBD anytime. While MBD was trying to be too artsy on every level, The Magician skips this crap and goes straight to the point of showing an everyday life of a hitman, which actualy looks like someone, who can smile at you, but at the same time blows your head off with a gun without any remorse. So we have a murderer with charm, sense of humor and coldblooded killer in the same package. Great hitman mockumentary and sadly overlooked by many people. Highly recommended.

“ This is a nice little movie about a group of filmmakers, who are making a documentary about famous short horror story writer H.P. Lovecraft and getting involved in some mysterious incident on the way. I must warn you about something, before watching this movie - if you're not familiar with Lovecraft and his works, you'll probably have very hard time following the plot, because it involves a lot of characters, symbols and plotlines from his short stories, so it can happen you'll be confused if you're not paying attention. As a fan of Lovecraft, I didn't have any problem with it, I liked it, but the ending was kind of dissapointing, since it's kind of... well, weird. I also missed some creepy scenes, but overall it was a fun movie to watch.

“ Another experimental movie in found footage genre. The story is simple; a mysterious object from space is changing people into violent zombies. Nothing new here, but there's a twist; the whole movie is shown with the help of a camera, mounted on a hood of police car. So we're actualy experiencing real time horror without any cuts and different camera angels. It's not suprising that the whole movie is only one hour long (with almost 20 minutes of final credits), because it gets kind of boring after some time. But I liked it; it felt more like the reimagination of Orson Wells's War of the worlds where dialogs are more important than the action itself. The lighting effects are kind of lame, but overall I liked it. It's not for everytone and it's not a perfect experiment, but it could be worse.

“ So, as you probably figured it out already, there were some paranormal found footage movies before Paranormal Activity and this is one of them. In Memorium is more like a drama with some horror touch here and there and tells us a story about a young man, dying from cancer and being haunted by revengeful spirit of her late mother. Overall, I like this movie. It's creepy, has interesting concept, suprisingly good acting and delivers a satisfying level of scares. It's nothing special, but worth a watch.

The 1st part of the movie is great where the main character, deranged serial killer wannabe, is explaining every damn cliche in the book of slasher movies. But I was more bothered with 2nd part, when the movie becomes what it was making fun of; very generic slasher with predictable twists and uninteresting main character. I'm not saying this movie is bad, but I wish it could be better and didn't take itself so seriously. It's meant to be a comedy, right?

“ Alone with her is a spycam voyeur thriller about a guy, who becomes obssesed with a girl and install a system of cameras in her apartment. Nothing new here, to be honest; the acting is decent since we're dealing with known professional actors, but they can't save weak writing and overall feeling of boredom. Everything is painfully predictable and generic, but on the bright side; the ending is suprisingly good and creepy, too bad everything else is not even remotely interesting. A weird guy is obssesed with beatiful girl and eventualy destroys her life? Wow, that's... original.

“ It's rare to see a found footage movie about zombies and I was really excited about this one. The Zombie Diaries doesn't have a real plot, it's just a collection of different stories about survivors of a sudden zombie invasion in UK. Since this is a low budget movie I wasn't expecting nothing spectacular and in the end I had a mixed feelings about it; it has an unique approach to the tired genre of zombie movies by showing us the dillemas of the survivors, who are fighting against zombies and themselves, but I must admit there are some scenes, which drag on for no good reason and make this movie kind of boring. The other problem are the zombies; they don't look that dangerous or posing a real threat; they walk slow and give an impression of heavy drunks with bad make up. Other than that and consider the budget, this movie is quite good. It has some creepy scenes and the music is fantastic and not annoying in the slightest.

“ The last installment in August Underground universe. I have a mixed feelings about it again; the first half is okay with some really decent random scenes of two serial killers doing stuff around the town and the gore is really low, but the 2nd half begin to torture us with so many pointless violent scenes (seriously; why do I have to see how someone attacks pregnant women and takes out her fetus?), but I watched to the end since I was interested how everything is gonna conclude. What did I get? Nothing. There's no real ending to this and I was pissed off because I was torturing myself with disturbing violence just for seeing one of the most uninteresting endings in any horror movie. The acting is rock solid, maybe not as good as in TBWP, but still good enough to care about the characters. Again; this movie is not for everyone, but for me it's one of personal favorites.

It doesn't focus so much on explicit violence and disgusting images, so it's made in a form of mockumentary with witnesses trying to explaing the content of found tapes. Sure, there are some violent scenes here and there, but for the most part everything is left to our imagination, which is a refreshing change. I really don't need another August Undergrond on my ass! Suprisingly great and effective movie.

“ This is my 2nd favourite found footage horror movie of all time, right after The Blair Witch Project. In 2007 found footage genre became tired and lost its charm, but REC reawakened it once more with one of the scariest and intense experience ever shown on film. This movie has everything; great acting, superb atmosphere, a dozen of really scary scenes, haunting sound and make up effects and original storyline about a journalist making a TV report about night life of fire department in Madrid and getting stuck in a apartment building, surrounded by special ops, police officers and doctor, who are claiming that people inside the house are infected with strange virus, which turns them into violent zombie creatures. I can't say no more how good this movie is - just watch it and you won't be dissapointed.

2. asking ghosts where they are located
3. telling the other members of the group to be quiet so he can hear every damn noise around him

The 2nd problem is that most of the things in the movie happen off-screen, that means you don't hear or see nothing creepy. In short; this movie is like watching a regular ghost hunters show without the ghosts. You see the problem here?

“ Without any doubt I can say that this movie is the worst found footage horror I've ever seen. The story about four friends, who are hunted by some dragon / reptile / lizard creature, didn't bothered me, because we all know originality is not very common in horror movies. What makes this movie so horrible is the execution. In short; this is a movie, who gets everything wrong. Not a single thing in these movie is done right and it's actualy quite shocking to see that this garbage was made in 2008. So let's go step by step to explain why this movie sucks so bad;

1. the acting is horrible at best. Yes, horrible at best. Either these guys were drunk, stoned or both - there's no way a sober man can make this kind of movie. I guess the "actors" were going on a camping trip and make this movie just for kicks.

2. the "effects" are out-of-this-world bad. I won't go into detailes, but let me just say; Ed Wood looks like a genius comparing to these guys. The editing looked like it was made on Windows movie maker, but that's not such a big issue, but if you want to make a monster movie with this tool... it's bad. Really bad.

3. the look of the monster is hilariously bad. Even King Kong from 1933 looked more realistic than this.

4. The camera work is horrible and it's trying to simulate shaking, but it's just laughable bad. One of the funnies scenes in the movie was one where monster is shaking the house and the camera is all over the place, but strangely enough the furniture doesn't move. Weird.

Overal; this movie doesn't deserve nothing, not even a 1. Give this movie a 1 would be a compliment.

However, there are some major problems I have with this movie; it borrows waaaay too much from the original REC and not even trying to be a bit different and the main actress Jeniffer Carpenter is sometimes overreacting in the most melodramatic way possible, but on the other hand she's passable. Other than that I don't have nothing bad to say about this movie. It's enjoyable, fun and sometimes very creepy. Give this remake a chance.

“ This movie scared the crap out of me. Before watching I didn't know anything about this movie but I was hooked to it in the first couple of minutes. Lake Mungo is a ghost story mixed with very emotional family drama about grief of losing someone you love and care. The whole movies is made like a mockumentary about life and mysterious death of young Alice Palmer. Her body is found in the bottom of a lake and after couple of weeks her spirit is haunting the home of her family. This movie delivers a dozen of great scares and haunting images, but it gets a little silly somewhere in the middle when it's trying to be too much twinpeaksque for my taste. But the ending is briliant and whole movie is just one great haunting experience.

Yes, it's a complete rip-off of Cloverfield, but still it's not that bad and can be enjoyable for the most of the time. The acting is decent, special effects are kind of lame and the monster is more like a demented octopus rather than some frightening creature. The camera work is ever more annoying as in Cloverfield, so if you have often vertigo moments, don't watch this film. Other than that, I liked Monster. It wasn't nothing special, but that's the thing with Asylum movies; they're just here to make money. Nothing more, nothing less.

Both little brother and sister are excellent in their roles, with no facial expression, they barely talk and you can see there is no "light" in their eyes, just pitch black. But the main problem are the parents; they're not annoying, but plain and simple retarded. Most of the times they act like two escaped mental patient and when you realise that parents are more creepy than their psychopatic children, you know movie made a mistake. But let's not be so harsh; this is faily creepy movie and thanks to child actors it's above avarage fun.

I know it sounds weird, but suprisingly it works on every level. The acting is above avarage for a low budget movie and creepiness mixed with black humor is spot on. I can't really describe this flick, you have to watch it for yourself.

It's nice that Asylum actually suceeded in capturing the eerie feeling of something evil going on to these people, but at the same time they manage to make it creepy and sometimes even more scary than Paranormal Activity. Yeah, a low budget kind of ruins some scenes which could be done better, but for what they got it's a really neat indie horror movie.

But the movie gets from good do bad when kids come to the secluded house in the woods, where they're celibrating one of theirs friends birthday. I won't give much away - I just want to say that this movie is confusing from that part on. It has a slow build up, but the finale is so messed up and confusing it made my head hurt. Maybe I'm not intelligent enough to appreciate this "classic"... I don't know. I was trying to watch it twice but I didn't like it. Sorry.

“ So, as you all know; I loved Noroi / The Curse, a previous found footage horror movie from Kôji Shiraishi. I had high expectations for this movie and maybe because of that I was kind of dissapointed in the end. No, this is not a bad movie, it's still better than most of high-budget crap they make in Hollywood, but I had a feeling this movie is missing something to be great. First of all; it's too damn long for what it's trying to deliver. The last 30 minutes of the movie really dragged on and on to the point I almost fell asleep. Second of all; the story is not that interesting or even a little scary. The problem is (maybe) that Shiraishi is great when he's creating an atmosphere and good tension, but when it come to storytelling he falls flat and since this movie is mostly based on monologues of people explaining what they witness, Okaruto becomes kind of boring movie. Still... it had some decent atmosphere and great acting, so I won't give it a low rating. I just expected something more... exciting.

I guess the main thing that bothered me were too many scenes of just someone walking around abandoned house / warehouse / tunnel with night vision and pretty bad acting. Plus; why is Slenderman always picking the most boring teenagers in the world to stalk? I mean... he's such a strong entity, yet he puts himself so low to hunt some wooden douchebags with cameras? Come on.

So... that means the sequel is as good as original? Well... yes. It's not worse it's not better... both of these movies are on the same level of true horror.

But I liked this movie; while the acting is not perfect, everything else is top notch; it's creepy, dark, distrurbing and some scenes made me jump. Worth a watch.

From what I heard, the creators banned someone from promoting a trailer for this movie on You Tube and that cause a lot of negative promotion among fans of found footage movies. The result was that many people didn't like this movie, but not because it's that bad, but because they want to show their middle fingers to the creators, which is understandable to some point.

However... I'm one of those people, who really didn't care for this scandal, I just wanted to see this movie and... I liked it. Story is simple; a young couple goes on vacation and finds out some strange machines, which leads to alien invasion. Sure, this movie is not new Blair Witch or something, but consider the low budget and limited resources (to make a movie about aliens is pretty hard job if you don't have a lot of money) I think it was pretty decent and it kept me interesting all the way.

“ Hmm... where do I start? I was searching this movie for year and a half and finally saw it... I wish I could get my 18 months back, because this movie is pretty much horrible. Since it has a LOT of problems, I'll just name some of them;

1. bad acting even for my low horror standards.

2. the movie puts some commercials during the footage of ghost hunting. I mean... what's the point? These commercials about pizza huts and restaurants got nothing to do with the whole damn movie. Is this movie trying to make fun of ghost hunter shows? Okay, I get it, but still... commercials, who are trying to be funny but fail on every damn level, are really something I don't want to see in a movie about ghost hunters.

3. the movie is repeating the same crap over and over again. First 15 minutes we're listening to one of the most boring intruduction of a haunted location (a cinema) I've ever seen. The narration is fine but it's just repeating the same damn thing. Okay... the cinema is haunted, we heard you the first time... move on!

4. The ghost in this movie is... well, I think even Casper looked more frightening than this poor excuse for a ghost. And the worst thing is that the actors are actually trying to be scared, so the whole scene with a ghost is laughable bad.

So, what's the verdict? Avoid this and watch Casper, you'll get more scares from it.

Now, I had two issues with this movie; it's about an hour long and I was bothered with very slow build up and when things begin to heat up and ghosts are attacking the youngsters, everything feels rushed like the director was thinking: "I must finish this until morning, let's speed this thing up." Too bad, the movie could blown us away, because those 5 minutes of scares are totaly worth the wait, but like I said - you must be patient with it. Overall; I liked it, but was way too short.

The School in the Woods is not a masterpiece and something breathtaking, but it delivers some creepy moments, which helps us overlook bad acting and some weird camera shots. For a budget movie this is a decent offer.

I was bothered with constant explaining about home renovations, because I want to watch a horror movie, not some "Pimp my house" show. But when horror actualy kicks in, it all falls apart with overuse of annoying, melodramatic, cheezy and boring music. Seriously; FF horror is different from other genres because it doesn't need no fake music in the background, because it ruins the whole experience of being "real". Too bad, because the movie was promising at the beggining, but if fails down completely in the end.

“ This movie came out of nowhere and I was suprised how good it was. What I liked about this movie was a refreshing change from paranormal and serial killer stuff; instead of that we get very funny and exciting trip into the dark forest, filled with hungry trolls. The ending is spectacular and way more exciting than any Michael Bay's explosion movie, so yeah... this is definetely one of the best found footage movies out there.

“ I'm just gonna say it; this movie scared me. Seriously. I didn't find not a single positive review about this movie, so here it is; I liked it. It was what I was hoping for; a decent scary movie. Aslyum take on The Exorcist with a mix of Paranormal Activity film style is a bit stupid (it's Asylum flick overall, right?) and some of the characters are quite cartoonish, but I don't see why is this movie rated so low. Maybe because it's Asylum movie? So what? Okay, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I agree that this movie has some major issues, but it's creepy and has some decent jump scares. I recommend watching this as younger brother of "The last Exorcism".

This movie heavily borrows from Paranormal Activity, but that's not the problem I had with this flick, since most of the found footage horror about ghosts are the same story all over again. The main problem is that the movie is boring and without any real scares. The lights are turning on by themselves? Well, maybe this was scary 30 years ago, but now it's just annoying. The main character finds his kitchen in a complete mess every morning? What's so scary about that? And the most pointless scene is 5 minutes long static shot of a guy, setting the trap for the ghost with ropes. And when the ghost is actualy shown, it's just a bad CGI effect which makes a laugh. Yes, this is indeed an unintentional comedy, but it's not "so-bad-it's-good" movie. No, this movie is just plain bad.

The main problem with most of found footage movies are slow build ups with dissapointing / rushed endings and The Tapes are classic case of that. In the end we're left with characters we don't care about, boring off-screen deaths and decent creepy atmosphere. Watch this only if you're bored to death.

Bare in mind; this is not a horror movie as it is advertised, it's more like a psychological drama about the effects of superstitions on everyday people like you and me. The director knows what is he doing and I have a faith in him that someday he'll made a great movie. I suggest to give this movie a try and bare in mind again - it's an experimental movie and consider that the director put the whole movie on You Tube it shows he's really trying to do something better with bigger budget.

“ This is the 4th installment of Paranormal Activity rip-off made by Asylum. And it sucks. Here's why;

1. this movie's got nothing to do with Amityville house. The house in this flick doesn't resemble in any way to Amityville House. The original was located near a big lake, but this one looks like a normal family house near some forest. Why? I guess Asylum found a house somewhere and just marked it as Amityville house, I don't know.

2. the acting is horrible. We all know that Asylum's actors are nothing to write about, but these ones are really really bad. They're so bad it makes my head hurt. They act so bad that every scene looks like an unintentional comedy.

3. the special effects are a joke. Flying pieces of black crap, people falling into comas with no good reason and horrible CGI ghosts. The ending makes this movie even more tedious and painful to watch.

Avoid this movie. Nothing more.

“ I'm not really picky, when it comes to found footage horror movies, but I have to draw a line somewhere. 1666 (also known as Knock Knock 2) is one of the worst cases in this genre. What's wrong with it? Well... the main problem is a very very slow build up; for the first 40 minutes we're just watching two couples driving around the city and recording strange houses from the outside and nothing else. After that the couples come to some strange house and argue for about 10 minutes if they'd go in or not. When they enter the house, everything goes downhill; nothing happens. We hear a baby cry and the couples can't escape from the house because the windows and doors are barred with wood. That's it and nothing else. Waste of 80 minutes of my life with slow build up and dissapointing payoff. Skip this one and before you ask: "Yes, there is also a first Knock Knock movie but it's got nothing to with this one."

We see a "concerned" mother and housewife walking around the house and showing amateur ghost hunters the kitchen and daughter's bedroom like she's selling furniture or something like that. The Zombie Diaries doesn't have a real plot, it's just a collection of different stories about survivors of a sudden zombie invasion in UK. Since this is a low budget movie I wasn't expecting nothing spectacular and in the end I had a mixed feelings about it; it has an unique approach to the tired genre of zombie movies by showing us the dillemas of the survivors, who are fighting against zombies and themselves, but I must admit there are some scenes, which drag on for no good reason and make this movie kind of boring. The other problem are the zombies; they don't look that dangerous or posing a real threat; they walk slow and give an impression of heavy drunks with bad make up. Other than that and consider the budget, this movie is quite good. It has some creepy scenes and the music is fantastic and not annoying in the slightest.

Yeah, there are some weird noises in the background and screaming, but that's it... they never show the thing, that is chasing our heroes and that sucks. Really sucks. Even if they would show us some guy in the rubber suit, I'd be satisfied, just... show us... something.

“ I watched this movie without subtitles, but that's okay, because you can easily follow the basic story; a young couple moves into a house, which is haunted by a ghost. Nothing new here. Another rip-off of Paranormal Activity, but that's not the problem here. What destroys the movie is complete lack of suspense and no real scares. Which is a shame, since the movie has good atmosphere and great setting but instead of any kind of horror we're facing with borefest.

“ aka Apartment 143. I didn't know what to expect from this movie, but in the end I was blown away. The pacing is great, the acting is also above avarage, maybe some scary scenes were a bit over-the-top noisy, but that's not annoying, just dont turn your volume up to the maximum and you'll be fine. Great movie! Watch it in dark, I dare you!

“ Judging from what I saw, this is a very very low budget movie about a group of people, who get stuck in the middle of the desert, which is actualy a ground of infamous Area 51. So we got aliens on our backs again, but this time in a very low budget form, if you know what I mean. Most of the time in the movie we're just seeing some people we don't care about walking around the desert and hearing some strange noises (probably from another planet). That means this is a movie about aliens but without actualy seeing aliens. Bummer. But before you trash this film out, I must say it's not as bad as it seems. Consider the low budget this movie is passable since the acting is fine, the feeling of being lost in the dangerous place is there and the story is pretty unpredictable, so you always wonder what will happened next. So my final verdict? If you know what you're getting into, you won't be (so) dissapointed. It could be much much better, but it's not a terrible movie either.

“ Goodleburg is another "no-name" movie in FF genre and tells us a story about a group of people invastigating an urban legend about some haunted cemetery in the forest. In short; it's Blair Witch knock-off with nothing new to show us, but that doesn't mean that the movie is bad. For the low budget title is pretty good and does his job right; it's creepy, has decent acting and some scenes are really well done. Goodleburg is not a masterpiece, but it's enjoyable flick.

“ I was searching for this movie for about two years and in 2013 I finally saw it. What can I say? It's... okay, just another story about a group of filmmakers exploring some haunted asylum and that's pretty much it. So yeah... it's basically just a Grave Encounters poor cousin with some lame special effects and avarage acting. Overall it's pretty generic and unoriginal, but worth a watch if you're bored. I think this movie could be better if the filmmakers would focus more on simple scares rather than computer generated ghosts, but I guess it could be worse. Decent ghost flick.

“ This is a german FF movie about a guy, who is disturbed by strange noises, coming from his basement. It's pretty standard "very-low-budget" stuff with campy acting and some other technical issues, but I must admit that I actualy liked it. The main thing that suprised me was that the director was smart enough to put simple, yet effective scares in this flick and let's be honest... how many FF movies about haunted basements do you know? Not many and I can assure you that basements are creepy enough without strange noises and weird figures walking around. While it's not perfect movie, I still give him a solid 8, just because it's one of rare amateur FF movies in which some effort was put into.

“ This is consider one of the most disturbing movies about a mysterious man, who is stalking and killing innocent girls. I heard a lot of people actualy believed that the movie is real, but in truth it's not. Still it's a good warning sign for many naive girls, who are chating over the internet with people they don't even know. One of the main reasons why movie disturbs us is great acting from two young female leads and last 20 minutes, which are not showing us any graphic violence, just a lot of convincing facial expressions of guilt, fear and crying for help. While I won't say it's the most disturbing movie I've seen, it's still a great warning for people all around the world, who are still denying the existence of monsters, who are molesting little girls.

“ Again with the damn switching between 1st person view and traditional filming. I don't know why filmmakers dont' see that this is annoying as hell and tedious. Whenever I see a movie with jumping from 1st to 3rd person, I turn away, because most of them sucks with capital S! But I give some credit to this movie... even if they would make a POV horror movie, it would still be bad as it is. It's the same crap all over again with stupid teens, locked inside of a haunted building and being chased by ghosts. It's a cliche after cliche, sort of speak. But in all honesty... I stopped watching this after 30 minutes, so I don't know how it ends and I really don't care.

I hope they'll make a sequel, since a lot of things should be explained more.

“ Since this movies has "snuff" in the title, I didn't have high expectations, but it blew me away. The Cohasset Snuff Film is a great mockumentary / found footage flick about a troubled 17 - year old kid, who decides to become a serial killer. The main reason why I liked this movies is that it doesn't focus too much on violence and gore (to be honest, there's no gore whatsoever in this flick) but more like on a state of mind of our messed up society. I found it fascinating that the main character was indeed a nutjob, but in most of his monologues in front of camera he makes so very good points about how people react to killing of another human being. In short; if we don't know the victim, we don't care. This movie is more like a statement about todays society rather than typical serial killer movie and it works on every lever. Highly recommended movie!
