It's Hard to be a Creative Man
This began the summer of 2015 when I was back in the U.S for a 1-month holiday. I began watching Birdman somewhat skeptically, but I was moved by the persistence with which Michael Keaton's character tries to get his dream off the ground while everything/everyone else tries to make it crash and burn.
A week or so later I attended an exclusive screening of Uzumasa Limelight in San Francisco's Japantown and was also touched by Seizô Fukumoto's autobiographical performance as a struggling actor in a dwindling film genre.
As artists with dreams, we must fight against all odds and the shortsightedness of others.
