I haven't seen the original but I think this is a brilliant zombie film. Some great kills in there which is what zombie films are all about!
2. The Evil Dead (1981)
NC-17 | 85 min | Horror
Five friends travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release flesh-possessing demons.
Votes: 158,794 | Gross: $2.40M
Some people may question if this is even a zombie film - dead people come back to life, zombies. A brilliant film with some great and original work.
3. Shaun of the Dead (2004)
R | 99 min | Comedy, Horror
A man decides to turn his moribund life around by winning back his ex-girlfriend, reconciling his relationship with his mother, and dealing with an entire community that has returned from the dead to eat the living.
Votes: 440,099 | Gross: $13.54M
The best british zombie film in recent memory if not ever! A very well delivered zombie comedy.
4. Doghouse (2009)
Not Rated | 89 min | Comedy, Horror, Sci-Fi
A group of men, heading to a remote village to help one of their friends get over his divorce, soon discover that all the women have been infected with a virus that makes them man-hating cannibals.
Not an amazing film, but some great moments and some laugh out loud ones. The cliches are built up early on and then people starting getting killed by psycho women! Great fun.
5. Planet Terror (2007)
Not Rated | 105 min | Action, Comedy, Horror
After an experimental bio-weapon is released, turning thousands into zombie-like creatures, it's up to a rag-tag group of survivors to stop the infected and those behind its release.
Another fun zombie film with some great kills. Plus the lead character has a gun for a leg! Original and brilliant!
6. 28 Days Later... (2002)
R | 113 min | Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi
Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.
Votes: 328,170 | Gross: $45.06M
Some brilliant visual work, the creepy opening sequence with a deserted London is great. And some quite scary moments, mainly from the soldiers near the end!
7. The Crazies (2010)
R | 101 min | Horror, Thriller
About the inhabitants of a small Iowa town suddenly plagued by insanity and then death after a mysterious toxin contaminates their water supply.
Votes: 100,117 | Gross: $39.12M
A good film with one of my favourite zombie movie moments - the scene in the field hospital with the pitch fork. Scary, jumpy and brilliantly shot.
8. Land of the Dead (2005)
R | 93 min | Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller
The living dead have taken over the world, and the last humans live in a walled city to protect themselves as they come to grips with the situation.
Votes: 83,938 | Gross: $20.70M
Not a great film in itself but I enjoyed the fact the zombies are organised and are going back to old routines...before they decide to eat some more humans!
9. Zombieland (2009)
R | 88 min | Adventure, Comedy, Horror
A shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the last Twinkie, and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America.
Votes: 429,836 | Gross: $75.59M
Hilarious! I love the rules, which we could all live a bit longer with...if there was a zombie outbreak!
10. Resident Evil (2002)
R | 100 min | Action, Horror, Sci-Fi
A special military unit fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident.
Votes: 220,867 | Gross: $40.12M
This list is in no order but this is by far my favourite zombie film. Mainly because I love the video games but also because it is brilliantly delivered. The vault scene is very well done and Milla Jovovich is great as Alice.
