Boots was a talented German shepherd who had appeared in several motion pictures and onstage in live animal acts that entertained American audiences for many years. He died in New York after suffering a stroke at the ripe old age of sixteen. Boots' master was the Hollywood animal trainer Bert Rose (or Ross).
