TotalVertigo's Top 1,000 Films

I take Documentaries, Feature Films, Miniseries, Short Films, and TV Movies into consideration, but not TV Series or episodes.

______________________________________________________________________

Introduction:
Be warned when interpreting this list: the individual rankings of the films are largely arbitrary (why is Two-Lane Blacktop above Vertigo? Because it just is). It is much more reasonable to divide this list into three separate tiers (which themselves are rather fluid as well):

- Tier One: #1-100
- Tier Two: #101-500
- Tier Three: #501-1000

Within these tiers I will likely be unable to argue why any specific film is above or below another. However, once you cross these boundaries (for example, if you were to compare #1 2001: A Space Odyssey with #962 Blind Husbands), I can more easily justify their position.

This year, I have been trying to broaden my horizons by including more non-narrative films in my personal canon. This has already led to the dramatic rise in position of several experimental films (The Act of Seeing with One's Own Eyes, La région centrale, RR, etc.) and documentaries (West of the Tracks, Dont Look Back, Titicut Follies, etc.). As the year goes on, you can expect to see this trend continue.
