10 Star-Studded Sundance '12 Premieres Probably Headed to Theaters Near You

Once upon a time, film festivals were created with the intent of generating awareness, support and even distribution for independent films that didn’t have the backing of a large studio or a notable cast to push the film to mainstream audiences. But the tide has shifted in today’s time, as the festival circuit has become a popular new means of publicity for A-list movies. Festivals have become a coming out party of sorts, with a lot of star-studded film premieres entering with U.S. distribution already lined up and a theatrical release already in the works.

But surprisingly, this year marks a change, as the entire Sundance ’12 lineup of celeb-filled premieres has been announced to be seeking distributors. Big name films are the #1 draw for distributors, so the chances are high that the following lineup will be picked up and headed soon to a theater near you anyway.
