Some Old Sci-Fi Movie Dialogue
Steve: I will return to my planet, Arous, and through its vast intellect I will become master of the universe. After I'm gone, your Earth will be free to live out its miserable span of existence as one of my satellites, and that's how it's going to be. That'll be all for now, gentlemen. I will preside over a meeting at the United Nations building at ten o'clock in the evening the day after tomorrow. You will all be there. After all, you have no other choice, have you?
General Brown: As one of the two delegates in this room that attended your "demonstration" this morning, I would like to assure the other delegates at this table that there is absolutely no doubt of your power to destroy. I saw it. I saw an American colonel killed, burned to a crisp by radiation with one look from this man, after the officer had fired at him point-blank with no effect. I saw him wipe out a city of concrete and steel, and a hundred tanks, trucks, guns, without leaving this room, by some power of mind. Gentlemen, I am convinced. My government's convinced. And my advice to you and to your governments is to take what this ... this man says as a most serious matter. ” - dave_s36
Klaatu: I am leaving soon, and you will forgive me if I speak bluntly. The universe grows smaller every day, and the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated. There must be security for all, or no-one is secure. Now, this does not mean giving up any freedom, except the freedom to act irresponsibly. Your ancestors knew this when they made laws to govern themselves and hired policemen to enforce them. We of the other planets have long accepted this principle. We have an organisation for the mutual protection of all planets, and for the complete elimination of aggression. The test of any such higher authority is, of course, the police force that supports it. For our policemen, we created a race of robots. Their function is to patrol the planets in spaceships like this one, and preserve the peace. In matters of aggression, we have given them absolute power over us. This power cannot be revoked. At the first sign of violence, they act automatically against the aggressor. The penalty for provoking their action is too terrible to risk. The result is we live in peace, without arms or armies, secure in the knowledge that we are free from aggression and war, free to pursue more profitable enterprises. We do not pretend to have achieved perfection, but we do have a system, and it works. I came here to give you these facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet. But if you threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder. Your choice is simple. Join us and live in peace, or pursue your present course and face obliteration. We shall be waiting for your answer. The decision rests with you. ” - dave_s36
Russell: Yeah, today I've got a hot date with a three-stage rocket. Well ... now, please, no interruptions. Because of recent scientific advances, it is now possible to realise an ancient dream - the exploration of outer space. To prepare for this great stride forward, we are assembling data on conditions at atmospheric levels beyond those hitherto explored. To collect the necessary data, unmanned automatic observation posts are being sent up in multiple-stage rockets to a distance hundreds of miles above the Earth's surface. There, swinging in endless orbits around our planet, will be 12 tiny man-made satellites, or moons. They will report to us by radio, thus providing primary information needed to prepare the way for our ascent into space. The effects of gravitational loss, showers of meteoric dust, the fierce and undiluted heat of the sun, the cosmic radiation, all will be studied and analysed. At the present time we have launched ten of the artificial satellites, or birds, as we call them. We-- Do you hear something?
Trailer Narrator: Flying saucers have invaded our planet. Washington, London, Paris, Moscow, are key targets. The whole world is under attack. Can it survive? Never before has the screen reached such heights of excitement. Breathtaking spectacle, hair-raising terror. See the saucer mens' high frequency disintegrator. See flying saucers travel thousands of miles in seconds. See great cities levelled by flying saucer monsters. ” - dave_s36
Radio Announcer: Fires, floods, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in unheard of numbers bursting out all over the world. Foreign minister .... first accused the United States of triggering the fires that broke out in his country by nuclear means, until convinced that similar holocausts were occurring without visible cause through this and other nations as well. There have been suggestions that these disasters are a follow up of the warning purporting to come from outer space, from hostile beings on a distant nebula who demanded that humans desist from attempts at space travel. The strange message was dismissed as a hoax by the United Nations Security Council at the time, but many responsible persons believe that it should have been taken seriously. Just a moment, ladies and gentlemen. A bulletin has been handed me. Reports are coming in thick and fast of wheat and corn fields destroyed, ships sunk, all occurring at the same instant. This is a bulletin. There can be no question of coincidence here. These terrible events are purposeful and directed.
Dave Boyer: The delegate from the Unites States sends his apologies for his unfortunate absence from this important meeting. But he sent me here with a message that expresses not only his views, but the views of Dr. Van Ponder, head of Project Sigma. The delegate has spoken of naked survival. Gentlemen, you do not survive by abject surrender. Nations and worlds must fight for survival. If we give in now, let down our defences, give this alien planet full control over our actions and our lives for mere survival, won't they decide to take even that away from us? Have the gentlemen here asked themselves why these aliens are so concerned that we do not penetrate the sigma barrier? Isn't it peculiar that this action alone excites them to retaliation? They consider us a danger to them if we break out of quarantine, as they so tactfully put it. They haven't even bothered to find out whether our motives are peaceful or not. They don't know that we would collaborate and share knowledge, greet them as equal partners in the universe. Well, we can't show them this by surrendering. No, it is precisely because they do not wish us to travel the skies that we must do so. Gentlemen, we must proceed with Project Sigma at all costs. ” - dave_s36
Senator Powers: I don't know whether you gentlemen are aware, but on directive from the Executive Branch, I have been given a free hand on the matter of this ship. I want some action. I have the peoples' interests at heart, but I will not have my hands bound by lack of all the facts. Dan, call the hotel and tell 'em to pack our things. And call the airport and charter a plane. We're heading for that little town of Riverdale. I want to see this thing first-hand. Call the Signal Corps. Get General Prescott on the line. Say that Wally K. Powers will not tolerate departmental interference, and if that spaceship film has been doctored in any way he stands in a very shaky position. Lay it on thick. I want him to keep so busy cleaning out his own closet that he won't find time to get in my way out there at that ship. ” - dave_s36
Trailer Narrator: Invaders from Mars. He saw them land from outer space. He saw them capture innocent people, only to destroy. Father turned against son. People changed into strange, weird animals. A General of the army becomes a saboteur. Trusted police turned into arsonists. The boy's parents changed into killers. Invaders from Mars, capturing humans at will for their own sinister purposes. Turning them into diabolical instruments of destruction. Invaders from Mars, weird, fantastic beings of a super intelligence, ruling a race of synthetic humans, and pitting them against Mankind's dream to conquer the universe. ” - dave_s36
Dr. Farraday: My friends and fellow workers in the great adventure of space, I have the most important news to announce since our first successful landing on the moon 20 years ago. As many of you know, for several weeks now, we have been receiving organised signals from a far galaxy. This morning, our code experts finally deciphered the message these signals contain. It's a most extraordinary document. It's very long. I'm not going to read it to you, but I would like you to have the gist of it. It informs us that they are dispatching a space ship to bring their ambassador to our planet Earth. They believe our atmospheric conditions will support their form of life, which apparently is similar to our own. The timing of their blast off should be just about now. I wanted you here at Space Institute to be the first to know. I'm sure the entire world will await the arrival of this space ship with the keenest anticipation. Thank you.
Dr. Farraday: And so it appears that these beings from another world have called for our help. The situation may not be exactly as we would have wished, but now that the doors have realistically opened, to close this gap between worlds, I feel that we are obliged to make every effort to give them our help. It is true, of course, that we aren't fully prepared to embark for Mars. The space ship Oceano has been designated to attempt first flight to Mars six months from now. I'm going to urge the heads of state of all countries to cooperate in this endeavour. Time to go to Mars is now, not six months from now, and to do so we must get those supplies to the moon. ” - dave_s36
Scotty: All right, fellas. Here's your story. North Pole, November 3rd. Ned Scott reporting. One of the world's greatest battles was fought and won today by the human race. Here at the top of the world, a handful of American soldiers and civilians met the first invasion from another planet. A man by the name of Noah once saved our world with an ark of wood. Here at the North Pole, a few men performed a similar service with an arc of electricity. The flying saucer which landed here, and its pilot, have been destroyed, but not without casualties among our own meagre forces. I would like to bring to the microphone some of the men responsible for our success, but our senior Air Force officer Captain Hendry is attending to demands over and above the call of duty. Dr. Carrington, the leader of the scientific expedition is recovering from wounds received in the battle. And now, before giving you the details of the battle, I bring you a warning. Every one of you listening to my voice, tell the world. Tell this to everybody wherever they are. Watch the skies everywhere. Keep looking. Keep watching the skies. ” - dave_s36
Alien Brain: Come. I have waited long for this moment. Give me your mind, your innermost thoughts. You are powerless. I shall drain your minds and bend your will to mine. You will submit and I shall possess you. Through your minds and bodies I will rule you and make your world mine. ” - dave_s36
Jack: Unfortunately, gentlemen, Medra is no man alive. In many respects he's superhuman, not born of this planet. You're not just up against a criminal mind. We're fighting an alien civilisation, one at least a hundred or maybe a thousand years in advance of ours.
Medra: A thousand years ago, we made our first stumbling steps into space. We visited the Earth only to find we could not survive its atmosphere. But we from Ganymede knew that we were superior beings and had nothing to learn from you. We had knowledge that could lead to eternal peace and progress, but also embodying the darker powers of universal destruction. So our civilisation ended, just as yours will end. ” - dave_s36
Emperor: The ship came so close, so close, to discovering the Count's secret, when it was suddenly attacked by a horde of unknown monsters. We had assumed it was destroyed. We had lost all hope until you found the launch from that ship, and now, with the utmost secrecy, you must sail through the haunted stars, you must find that ship, find the Count's secret planet and destroy it. There's something else. When you complete the mission, search for the commander of that missing ship. He was my only son.
Emperor: You know something, my boy? I wouldn't be Emperor if I didn't have some powers at my command. Imperial battle ship! Halt the flow of time! In the space of three minutes, every molecule on this planet will be immobilised, but after the third minute, the green ray loses its power, time will flow once again, and everything will explode.
Emperor: Well, it's done. It's happened. The stars are clear. The planets shine. We've won. Oh, some dark force, no doubt, will show its face once more. The wheel will always turn, but for now it's calm. And for a little time, at least, we can rest. ” - dave_s36
Keith: That's a nice way to greet an old friend. Sit down, Curt. You're upset. Yes, I helped Zontar. I told him everything that would make it possible for him to come here. Your satellite was the final link in the chain. Zontar is a member of a race that was born too soon. They developed a culture on Venus that Earth won't catch up to in perhaps a million years. And then disaster struck. You see, Curt, they're host beings. They grow devices that enable them to control other creatures. Somehow the creatures they controlled on Venus became sterile and died out. Without control creatures, Zontar's dominant race slowly withered away.
Martha: Listen. I don't know if you can hear me or not, but if you can, you listen and listen good. I hate your living guts for what you've done to my husband and my world. I know you for the coward you really are, and I'm gonna kill you. Did you hear that? I'm going to kill you.
Curt: Keith Ritchie came to realise, at the loss of his own life, that Man is the greatest creature in the universe. He learned that a measure of perfection can only be slowly attained from within ourselves. He sought a different path and found death, fire, disillusionment, loss. War, misery and suffering have always been with us, and we shall always strive to overcome them. But the answer is to be found from within, not from without. It must come from learning. It must come from the very heart of Man himself. ” - dave_s36
Bourman: It was this angle, at a specific altitude and velocity, that broke the time barrier. For a fraction of a second you were suspended in space, no longer interlocked with the time spheres of the sun and the Earth. Now, during this split second, our galaxy moved onward in time for what amounted to 65 years. An instant later, you had rejoined our solar system, and the rest you know.
Bourman: These symbols represent the Earth, the sun, and your ship. Now, consider these known facts. The Earth is rotating at a thousand miles per hour. But it is also revolving in orbit around the sun at 66,000 miles per hour. Time as we know it is relative to these movements. But the entire solar system, together with other systems of our galaxy, are moving through space at over six million miles per hour. ” - dave_s36
Nyah: You have no wisdom. The entire structure of the nuclear ship is made of a new organic metal. Therefore, each molecular cell can absorb its own amount of heat or cold. It could have absorbed all the heat in a matter of seconds. Fill your eyes, old man. See such power as you never dreamed existed. Now, look again. The evidence of your own eyes, Professor. Can you still see? There is enough power there to drive this ship anywhere in the universe. Enough power to obliterate this speck of matter you call Earth.
Prof. Hennessey: The atomic structure of the metal from which the ship is constructed is apparently organic. The molecules can reproduce themselves. The same principle as a tree or vegetable. And like any living thing, it must have a weak spot, a vital spot, at which one can strike. ” - dave_s36
Charles Danton: Well, let me say first that we were confronted with what seemed like nothing but random disturbances having no connection with terrestrial manifestations. However, by some intricate computer probing, we have determined a definite pattern. Now, assume I'm pointing to the field of the disturbance force, which has shown to be always along this tangent line. The time of the event, correlated to the Earth's rotation, indicates that the disturbances acted along the same relevant quadrant of Gamma 1, which is our remotest space station. ” - dave_s36
Smith: Dr. Laird is no doubt a very clever man. He must be to have built an apparatus capable of recently causing such atmospheric disturbance. However, I suspect he's also a single-minded man and possibly an unimaginative one. Mr. Graham, the Earth has a magnetic field. Have you considered the dangers of upsetting that field? It has happened before in history, you know, with catastrophic results. ” - dave_s36
Sallas: I inhabit the body of your late captain, and I'm just one of many beings on this planet, many beings who are desperate. We've been in trouble many years now, and we're fighting to survive. We arranged for several of you to kill each other so that we could take over your bodies. You are our last chance. It's imperative that our race continue to exist. If you were in our place you would understand. On your planet, I know you humans have fought and killed down through the centuries. Do you really expect us to be any different? We cannot be wiped out. We'll stop at nothing. We must fight, no matter how. We are a race that exists on a vibratory plane different from yours. Our limitations are entirely different. Our technology. We cannot build anything. Spaceships like this. We need ships to get away. Perhaps our survival is possible somewhere else. Our sun's been dying, as you can see, and that means the end of our species as well. We have been attempting to summon you here for centuries. Just as our sun had no more energy, you heard our message. We never expected you to actually respond. ” - dave_s36
Master of the Moon: Conquer and rule Earth? Why should we want to do that? What possible satisfaction or glory could we find in ruling a race whose most intelligent life force is little more than primitive savages compared with our vast knowledge? We come from a world called Zarn, a planet in a system of a faint star you call Leporis. We Zarns are the ultimate evolutionary forms of the highest life order in the cosmos. Once, a million generations ago, we too had physical bodies, but as ages passed we became bodiless intelligences, pure mental energy. Too late we realised our doom. Mental energy alone could not survive. In a few generations, we, the highest life form in the cosmos, would cease to exist. The lower creatures on our planet built a space ship, and we went forth to search for the salvation of our race. The ship crashed on this moon of your Earth. ” - dave_s36
Chris: As I told you, we transform sound into light, and the speed of light is 186,000 miles a second. So you divide the distance to Mars by the speed of light and you get the length of time it takes our light waves to reach Mars. Double that and you get the time it takes our messages to come back. Now, that could all be mechanical, but they don't come back in that exact number of minutes. It never takes less time, always more. Twenty seconds, forty seconds, sometimes as much as a minute and a half.
Chris: Well, hydrogen sufficiently pressurised can be brought down to a temperature of about 451 degrees below zero. And nobody knows why, but sound waves can be picked up at that temperature that would be otherwise completely inaudible. Now, certain minerals also have incredible acoustic properties. Quartz, for instance. That's what this valve is made of, and we ... we warp it with the pressurised hydrogen. It gives us the energy for a power transmission a thousand times greater than any sound transmitter ever conceived.
Newsreader: I know I am not alone in being struck by the phrase with which the message begins. "Seven lifetimes ago" are the words, but we know that the Martians' life is 300 years. So, seven lifetimes is about 2,100 years, or as near as one could ask to the era in which the carpenter of Nazareth went forth to preach his message. Is it only coincidence that the message he broadcast 2,000 years ago should again be broadcast from the supreme being on Mars? If so, then how explain that this authority should know that we on Earth were told 20 centuries ago? Or is it possible that the man of Nazareth and the man of Mars are the same?
President: It has brought hope when we had lost all hope. It has brought light into a world of darkness. All over the world, regardless of their religious beliefs, men have found a new faith by which to live. No, not a new faith, but an old one many had allowed ourselves to lose. A faith that is universal in men of all faiths. For while to us the words from Mars seem the very essence of the Christian doctrine, let us not forget that they are also the essence of all other religions - Christian, Mohameddin, Jewish, Buddhist. All are heeding the call to prayer, kneeling humbly in the search for divine guidance. I pray particularly that behind the Iron Curtain, where our eyes are not permitted to see, men will open their hearts to the message of peace and the promise that their rulers have so long denied them. Today's message reads, "Ye have denied God's word and worshipped false gods. Thy torment is the price of thy known sin."
Calder: There've been no messages since my transmitter was shattered. How will you explain that to the world, Mr. Cronyn? Sermon on the mount. Peace on Earth. No, Mrs. Cronyn. You are not dealing with a superstitious peasant. If those first messages were faked, the last were too. The world will believe me, just as your husband believed me. And then you'll all be at each other's throats again. All of you. And I'll have done it. Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven. My favourite poem, Mrs. Cronyn. The unconquerable will and study of revenge, in mortal hate and courage never to submit or yield. That's my god, Mrs. Cronyn. Satan. Lucifer's my hero. God beat him, but I'll have beaten God.
President: We do not know, and never shall, what caused the destruction of that laboratory in California. We only know that Chris and Linda Cronyn are gone, and that in our time there will be no more messages from Mars. For God in his infinite wisdom has decreed that the revelations which came through them, his servants, were sufficient to fulfil his purpose. At the very moment when they snatched up in that chariot of fire, into the bosom of truth everlasting, a final message was being received. Only the first few words of that message were recorded before the explosion cut it short. Those words were, "Ye have done well, my good ..." The rest is silence. Silence? No. No, for as I speak, the bells of a million churches in every far corner of the Earth ring out in salutation to the Earth's new day of hope. The voices of the joyful rise in a thousand hymns; hymns not of grief, but of thanksgiving. And Mankind, kneeling in gratitude for its redemption, prays for the spirit of this man and this woman. Of them, as of no mortals before them, it may be said the whole Earth is their sepulchre. And so the message does not remain unfinished. The miracle we have beheld has cleansed our souls and wiped the scales from our eyes. With the new vision given us, we who are left can complete that message. Ye have done well, good and faithful servants. Enter ye into the joy of your lord. Thy monument is a world of peace. ” - dave_s36
Gen. Greene: A rocket flight from the Earth directly to the moon is still beyond the capacity of our best ships. But now that we have a satellite station in space, revolving around the Earth, a satellite due, I might add, directly to the heroic first orbital flight by Colonel Briteis four years ago. Now that we have a space station, it is at last possible to send a ship from the station all the way around the moon. On this trip, Dr. Wernher will photograph the back face of the moon. The ship will then return to the space station. ” - dave_s36
Claire: That what you plan to use on Paul? You'd murder your best friend? Tom, if you do that you'll be killing me with the same bullet. What's the matter? Has the cat got your tongue so you can't talk? Maybe your friend has it. You've given him everything else of you. Tom. Tom, are you afraid to talk to me? Or are you just plain ashamed? Well, that must be it. Are you closing off your machine? Suppose your boss wants you to run down to town and cut out a few hearts. He might get mad when he can't reach you, and snap his fingers. Has he got fingers? A master isn't gonna like it when the servant turns off the juice. He might want to turn you into a white rat so that you can--
Paul: He learned almost too late that Man is a feeling creature. And because of it, the greatest in the universe. He learned too late for himself that men have to find their own way, to make their own mistakes. There can't be any gift of perfection from outside ourselves. And when men seek such perfection, they find only death, fire, loss, disillusionment, and the end of everything that's gone forward. Men have always sought an end to toil and misery. It can't be given, it has to be achieved. There is hope, but it has to come from inside, from Man himself. ” - dave_s36
Ray: This was not my first space flight. Previous assignments for my newspaper had sent me to the moon many times, but never into the vast reaches of deep space. I feared that ten days in a cramped ship, with a crew of seven men who would resent a reporter's questions and lack of usefulness, might make me an unpopular passenger.
George: Alpha Two, propelled by photonic energy, is now without a pilot. She is floating in space and is only controlled by the electronic brain. The photonic heat which our radar has picked up has the power of destruction and death. Alpha Two has re-entered the solar system. During the sun's next revolution, she will start to orbit around the Earth and will destroy it completely, burning everything and eliminating all forms of life. ” - dave_s36
Jackie: I don't think we're going no place. All right, so we built a spaceship. That doesn't mean we have to fly it. Hey, maybe we're guinea pigs. Maybe they want to find out how much of them cosmic rays a human carcass can absorb before we light up like Christmas trees. And at double pay, I can learn to like cosmic rays. With all that loot, boy, I'm gonna open a TV shop, settle down, marry my Rosie, and raise a house full of kids. So, if I glow a little in the dark, she could find me better.
Samuel: Our previous orders were to leave the Wheel, proceed to the moon, orbit for observation, make a landing, and return to base. These orders have now been cancelled. We're not going to the moon. Mr. Fenton has brought us a new directive. Our time of departure will be 11:36 tomorrow morning. Our destination, the planet Mars. Now, that time of departure, both for the outer trip from the Wheel to Mars, and for the return from Mars to the Wheel, is most important. We must arrive at the Martian orbit at the exact time when it is occupied by the planet. Obviously, the same precision of timing applies for our return. Now, you five men have been chosen after intensive competitive examinations. For the past year, you've been receiving special training and instruction for travel into outer space. The ship, however, can accommodate only two officers and three crew men. I have been assigned as commanding officer. All other service on this trip will be voluntary. Since Captain Merritt has already volunteered, there are only three berths left open. Two of you, then, are going to be disappointed.
Imoto: Some years ago, my country chose to fight a terrible war. It was bad. I do not defend it. But there were reasons. Somehow those reasons are never spoken of. To the Western world at that time, Japan was a fairy book nation, little people living in a strange land of rice paper houses, people who had almost no furniture, who sat on the floor and ate with chopsticks. The quaint houses of rice paper, sir, they were made of paper because there was no other material available. And the winters in Japan are as cold as they are in Boston. And the chopsticks? There was no metal for forks and knives and spoons, where slivers of wood could suffice. So it was with the little people of Japan, little as I am now, because for countless generations we have not been able to produce the food to make us bigger. Japan's yesterday will be the world's tomorrow. Too many people and too little land. That is why I say, sir, there is urgent need for us to reach Mars, to provide the resources the human race will need if they are to survive. That is also why I am most grateful to be found acceptable, sir. I volunteer.
Announcer: There they are, ladies and gentlemen, the satellite and the spaceship. The dream of all Mankind come true. The moment is almost here. The moment for that creation of the Wheel to launch out into limitless space, to carry five heroic men to a new planet and to immortality. And now, ladies and gentlemen, please stand by while we close our circuits for the final special event of the evening - a private last look at the world for the heroic men of the Wheel alone. Take it away, Vienna. ” - dave_s36
Nurmi: Perfection. Perfection. That's what I'm after. Come and let me show you what imperfection means. Let me show you the failures that eat like agony at my heart. In here is the price we have paid for our success. The penalty of error. This is my private hell, to remind me of the hell men like you have created. You ask why I have caused such horror? Because here, Halstead, is what I intend to create. These mirrors reflect your image into infinity. In the same way, I will achieve the perfect synthesis of the human race, which could be duplicated millions of times, stretching into the future like the cosmos itself. Here's a race with beauty, dignity and compassion, where selected individuals can live indefinitely, a race I am proud to say we designed, we men. A man-made race that will one day people the universe. Yes, it's Connie. Magnificent, is she not? Your Connie is the epitome of perfection. She's being prepared, attuned. Attuned to me, Halstead. To me. Soon she will be ready for the great moment, when she and I will become one person, and my flesh will absorb hers, and we will be fused into one person. We will be one, one dual person. That will be the perfect culmination of my work. The total fusion, the great moment.
Trailer Narrator: The fusion of male and female. Living humans drained of imperfections and grafted together to form a new and terrifying race. The incredible bi-sapien race of the Wild, Wild Planet. Where the slightest error becomes the mutilated refuse of Mankind. Where success is a super being. A man-made race of automatons programmed to overpower Man himself. These are the invaders from the Wild, Wild Planet, female form destructive units of invincible strength, and the awesome ability to disappear into thin air. Only a handful of men stand in the way of these mass-produced monsters, fighting desperately to uncover the diabolic mystery of their creation, locked in the malignant mind of one man. ” - dave_s36
Trailer Narrator: From the remotest reaches of the cosmos, an unknown force is overpowering Mankind. The greatest threat in outer space. The war of the planets. Working feverishly, courageous astronauts vainly search for a transparent enemy that has overtaken their space station, paralysing every form of life and motion. All the forces on Earth have been mobilised to combat this invisible, supernatural, deadly power that is crippling Man's progress in space. Man's willpower, his will to live, is being crushed. It's a battle of wits against a subtle enemy for which there is no defence. You too will be fascinated, awed, gripped, mesmerised, enslaved, by the will of the deadly Diaphanoids. It's a desperate fight, but a handful of fearless space men search for every sign, for every face that might hide the seed, the spawn of death that threatens to destroy the Earth. It's a power of gigantic proportion. It corrodes the very will of Mankind. This is a film you cannot miss. Man pitched against the unknown, the incredible. The War Of The Planets. ” - dave_s36
Narrator: The Martians had calculated their descent upon our Earth with amazing perfection and subtlety, as more of their cylinders came from the mysterious depths of space. Their war machines, awesome in their power and complexity, created a wave of fear which swept into all corners of the world. In every country, government officials met in desperate conclave, seeking ways to coordinate their defences with those of other nations. The government of India, driven from New Delhi, met in a railroad coach, while massive Hindu populations streamed for the imagined safety of the faraway Himalayas. The redoubtable Finnish and Turkish armies, Chinese battalions and Bolivians, worked and fought furiously. Every effort against the tremendous power of their other world antagonists ended in the same frantic rout. As the Martians burned fields and forests, and great cities fell before them, hugh populations were driven from their homes. The stream of flight rose swiftly to a torrent. It became a giant stampede without order and without goal. It was the beginning of the rout of civilisation, of the massacre of humanity. A great silence fell over half of Europe as all communication was disrupted. When the last wire photo out of Paris reached the French cabinet exiled in Strasbourg, they hit upon the idea of using super-speed jets as couriers. Stripped of armament and loaded with extra fuel, these planes maintained connection with the Scandinavian countries, North Africa, the United States, and especially with England. It was plain the Martians appreciated the strategic significance of the British Isles. The people of Britain met the invaders magnificently, but it was unavailing. As the Martians swept northward toward London, the British cabinet stayed in session, coordinating every item of information that could be gathered, passing it on to the United Nations in New York. From there, the news was forwarded to Washington, because here was the only remaining unassailed strategic point.
Narrator: The Martians had no resistance to the bacteria in our atmosphere to which we have long since become immune. Once they had breathed our air, germs which no longer affect us began to kill them. The end came swiftly. All over the world, their machines began to stop and fall. After all that men could do had failed, the Martians were destroyed and humanity was saved by the littlest things which God, in his wisdom, had put upon this Earth.
Trailer Narrator: This could be the beginning of the end for the human race, for what men first thought were meteors or the often ridiculed flying saucers, are in reality the flaming vanguard of the invasion from Mars. The nations of the world mobilise their armed might, rushing to defend the Earth against the unknown weapon of the super race from the red planet. Is there nothing that can stop the Martian death machine? All over the world, human beings cower before the onslaught of these unearthly enemies, whom no-one has ever seen. Panic that sweeps around the globe as the great masses of Mankind flee blindly in a headlong stampede of hysteria. ” - dave_s36
Jim Benedict: Sir, there are any number of hazards and dangers, ranging all the way from radiation to innumerable possibilities of mechanical failure, but if you demand my frank appraisal of what I consider to be the greatest danger, it's the vacillation, the continuing swings of certain sections of public opinion. From the earliest days of Cape Canaveral, when we were first trying to outdo the first Sputniks, many people have teeter-tottered between anguish and triumph. Whenever the enemy made the slightest advance, loud voices proclaimed that we should beat them at all cost. And whenever the slightest gain was made, this unfailingly was followed by periods of apathy or complacency. And through it all, a few kept up the weeping and the wailing over the cost of survival, and there have always been political opportunists ready and waiting to grab a headline by jumping on the crest of each wave, whether it be one of enthusiasm or one of despair. Those of us on these projects are well aware of our responsibilities, and we recognise the value of committees such as this one, calling us in from time to time for a reckoning. And it's good that they take us to task and keep us on our toes. It's of little importance whether one by the name of Benedict bears the principal responsibility or someone else. I do not speak for myself, except to say that if I seem to be failing, I should be replaced immediately. But let us make up our minds once and for all whether we want an all-out space programme or not. And if we decide that we do, as I pray we will, then let us remain constant to that purpose, and in the name of the future of our country, let us stop being like a changeable wind, blowing hot one day and cold the next. Instead, let us go forward in the American way - pioneering new frontiers without fear, taking pride in accomplishment, yet facing dangers and disappointments with resoluteness and without qualms and complaint. ” - dave_s36
Narrator: Here now is the Jupiter 2, the culmination of nearly 40 years of intensive research, and the most sophisticated piece of hardware yet devised by the mind of Man. Bold in concept, brilliant in execution, this most delicate yet most colossal of instruments makes possible Man's thrust into deep space, and will soon set out on its quest for a new world. This super spaceship stands two stories high. The upper level contains a fantastic, sophisticated guidance control system. An electronic elevator connects both floors of the intergalactic vehicle. The upper and lower levels are operationally self-contained. Here, on the lower deck, pulsating with unbelievable force, are the great atomic motors that will power the ship to new worlds. Spectacular but functional living quarters, including staterooms and galley, complete this level. There is one additional member of this expedition - an environmental control robot, key among whose many vital functions will be the final analysis of the physical environment of the new planet. This historic flight, preceded by nearly a decade of intensive research and preparation, has been shrouded by the most rigorous security precautions. Other nations, in even more desperate need for breathing room on our critically crowded planet, are racing the United States in this project, countries that would go to any lengths of sabotage.
(both from episode 1, "The Reluctant Stowaway") ” - dave_s36
Phi: Don't be afraid. You are inside a spacecraft. Everything you suspect about UFOs is true. We have been visiting your planet for thousands of years. Our Earth base has been captured, and our spacecraft has been damaged in combat. A renegade group intends to exterminate your race and repopulate the Earth. We need a computer expert who can work with us in obtaining computer parts and integrating them with our system so that we can try and save the Earth. Will you help?
- An unidentified flying object has appeared on our radar screens over the past week, gentlemen. Now, we know that we monitor the Russians and the Chinese so closely, and they monitor us so closely, that this could not possibly have come from planet Earth. Therefore, it is our belief that it is from outer space. Now, this vehicle is orbiting the Earth at a height of about a hundred miles in a very irregular pattern. The frightening part is that wherever this vehicle tracks across a populated area, there is a tremendous increase in people committing suicide. However, they are not committing suicide. They are being murdered by somebody, some being, some device, from outer space. Now, I can't impress upon you gentlemen the importance of secrecy. Any announcement of this to the public, the panic could mean the end of life as we know it on this planet.
Phi: You must allow your mind to let go of all its petty concerns. Your mind will be moving at a tremendous velocity as our navigator absorbs the necessary information contained in your brain. Malcolm, you will make the required computations. Remember that until now, you've never used more than one percent of your mental capabilities. You will experience a tremendous surge of power as the vast dormant energy in your mind is released. Do not be alarmed. There is nothing to fear. ” - dave_s36

Alien Voice: Last of Man, listen. The craft you are attempting to communicate with no longer exists. Your sister craft no longer exists. The signal you are following is a warning. Had you been able to decipher its meaning, you would not have attempted to trespass on our world.
Alien Voice: We are the collective minds of this world your craft now orbits. Be it enough for you to know that during the span of our evolution, our civilisation has witnessed the birth and death of worlds and suns untold. But enough. Your time is short. You may not enter our world. We have witnessed the self-destructive powers of the green planet you call Earth. We have no malice toward you. You have destroyed your place in the universe. Last of Man, listen. Of this we will tell you. Your journey will continue. Something very strange and very great awaits you beyond the rim of the universe. And now, last of Man, your journey will begin. ” - dave_s36
Newsreader: And with the murder of Jason Franchot last night, I must apologise for my recent scepticism regarding these radioactive creatures. It seems they do exist and they are prowling the street. Police chief Camden assures us that they are doing everything in their power to get to the source of these beings. With the cooperation of the military, planes and helicopters equipped with radium finders are now overhead, and strange looking trucks similarly equipped are now at this moment prowling through the streets of our city to track them down.
Dr. Norton: This animal looks content, doesn't it? You wouldn't suspect that it has 18 electrodes inserted in its skull. Turning this switch releases a small amount of ultra short waves. Those electrodes are tuned to specific frequencies. As long as the impulse is released, the dog barks. By applying another impulse of different frequency, the dog immediately falls asleep. It will lie there as long as the stimulus is active. Another impulse will make it vicious. Docile. Hunger can be induced, or it can be made to resent its food. Amygdala stimulations, somatomotor and visceromotor effects. Does this demonstration satisfy your curiosity? ” - dave_s36
Kalgan: Excellent. They no longer have a choice. It was cruel fate to be born in space, but I have vowed we will not die here. It is my destiny to set my feet upon a real world, to accumulate wealth and power beyond our wildest dreams. I have offered the people of the Southern Sun a rich new life, and now they have no alternative but to accept my generosity and alter course for Corona Borealis.
Commander Jansen: In recent weeks, there has been a series of sabotage attacks and murders on board the Southern Sun. We now know who is responsible and why. The man is the flight master and chief enforcer, Elijah Kalgan. It is his intention to take command of the Southern Sun and force us to change our navigational course for the pirate world of Alphecca. As commander of the Southern Sun, it is my intention to resist these demands. Therefore I have relieved Kalgan of command and appointed a new flight commander. His name, David Ryder. I hope your trust and confidence in my captain and crew will continue, and together we will seek out this evil among us, and I long for the day when one again peace will prevail aboard the Southern Sun. Thank you.
Dave Ryder: May I have your attention please? Would the officers of the watch please form three groups. The first group is gonna be responsible for making weapons. The second group is going to act as soldiers. The third group is responsible for getting food and supplies. I suggest we close up all entries and exits to the engine room. We're going to hold out here and never let 'em take over the Southern Sun. Let's get out there and kick some ass. ” - dave_s36
Joanna: In case the solar mirror fails, the space station would be powered by an atomic reactor. And this is the monitoring chamber. You can see through the red filtered port activities in various hot labs. Over here, for instance. Isotopes. And here, plutonium compounds. And here, radioactive fuels. All handled by robot power. It used to take six technicians to operate an atomic pile, but now with Dr. Zeitman's robots, everything is controlled by one man supervising NOVAC. You know, if one of the safety rods were pulled out by mistake, it would start a chain reaction and the whole thing would explode. ” - dave_s36
Newsreader: We interrupt our programme with a special bulletin. An unidentified object has been spotted in orbit around the Earth. The Soviet Union denies it has launched any new space satellites. Our radar stations are tracking the space ship, or whatever it is. The US Air Force has alerted all defence commands and retaliatory units.
Newsreader: Here is another UFO bulletin. The Defense Department has just announced that the unidentified flying object has suddenly disappeared from our radar screens. They believe the object has either disintegrated in space or it may be a space ship from some other planet which has the ability to nullify our radar beams. Because of the ominous situation, the President has ordered the Strategic Air Command into action.
Newsreader: And Mrs. Santa Claus has positively identified the kidnappers as Martians. Never in the history of Mankind have the nations of the world reacted with such unanimity and cooperation. Tonight, the lights will burn until dawn in the United Nations building, as the leaders of the world map a course of action. And at Cape Kennedy, our correspondent interviewed Werner Von Green, the man in charge of America's star shot programme. ” - dave_s36
Narrator: ... the multiplying Zimerian mutations come in from all parts of the world, research in this guarded laboratory's being feverishly conducted by Dr. Sakurai and his assistants, who seek desperately a formula which could destroy the leader of the invaders, Balazar's brain. Already, many of the mutants, disguised as human beings, are walking the streets of Earth's cities. To pay for their food and clothing, they frequently commit daring robberies such as the one now being carried out. ” - dave_s36
Steve: On what we now believe to be the morning of the fourth day, we have emerged from the fiery depths of the Martian underworld. How long we had been wandering there, we can only guess. Is it that the eternal darkness of the caverns that endlessly doubled back upon themselves has destroyed our sense of time? Our watches are useless, for they have refused to run since we crashed on the surface of this planet, their hands frozen as if time were forbidden upon this world. Of this we are certain - for every day of our journey, our original oxygen supply diminishes by a quarter. Now, with our map lost in the caves below, and only a faint distant signal to follow, the needle on our oxygen tanks marks the beginning of what could be our last day on Mars. It is quiet obvious now that if we do not find our main stage before nightfall, it will be simply our last day. The arid Martian desert stretches around us like an endless ocean of sand. To the west, more than a day's journey away, we can see what appears to be a strange dome of light pulsating on the horizon. Could it be the work of some alien intelligence? Or a weird phenomena of this planet? Senseless to wonder now as our oxygen supply is drained and we are running on the last of our reserve. At noon, Charlie's directional finder became silent. The signal we've been following in the hopes of reaching our main stage died, and with it perhaps our last chance of survival on this planet. Stronger than ever now is the feeling of alien forces surrounding us.
Wizard: I see perplexity among you. As long as your minds are clouded with questions about our nature, we cannot determine your purpose upon our world. I am a composite being, a manifestation of the many minds that are the last inhabitants of this, the last city upon this world. We are the end of the evolution of a race so old, its age has no equivalent in your concepts of time. Be it enough for you to know our race has witnessed, during the span of our evolution, the birth and death of suns and worlds untold. But enough. Now we must seek the satisfaction of our own curiosity. From where do you come? And what is your purpose here?
Wizard: What you seek is not here. The signal that you received was a warning. Had you been able to decipher its meaning, you would not have come here. However, the golden road that led you here is all that remains of a vast network that linked our vanished empire upon this world. Now our paths have become one, and you are destined to share our fate, for as long as we remained imprisoned upon this world, so shall you remain.
Wizard: During the span of our evolution, our race built an empire so great its outermost reaches extended to the perimeter of the galaxy. Our fleets sailed the galactic seas and gathered the riches from many worlds. Wandering, we gathered the greatest of all treasures - knowledge. Ours was the greatest empire the galactic civilisations had ever witnessed. We were the masters of the stars, but as space is vast, time is long. Races grow old, civilisations wither, and empires crumble. The stars slipped through our fingers. We who had been the conquerors of a thousand worlds, gathered here, our empire fallen, our glory gone. All that remained of our greatness were the mysteries we had gathered in our wanderings. There was an irony in our twilight. All too soon we would return to mindless dust, leaving these mysteries behind. Time was insensitive to our greatness. The end of our evolution drew near. Weary, we made on last effort. We enquired into the very nature of the fabric of time itself. Time, from creation to now, tugs toward all the yesterdays almost as strongly as the unborn tomorrows that stretch to all eternity. We struck a balance between these two great universal forces - the past and the future. It was then that we impaled time upon an axis. We who had been the conquerors of a thousand worlds and fallen, rose again to conquer death and pluck our city out of time. Within these halls there was an eternal stillness, and in that stillness we pondered upon all the mysteries we had gathered from the vastness of the universe. In pondering we found we had committed a grievous error. That transgression upon time was contrary to the laws of the universe, for as there can be no life without birth, so life itself is meaningless without death. Upon unravelling the last mystery of the universe, this we learned - that there exists a promise of something very strange and very great, a promise beckoning to us from beyond the rim of the universe. Thus our transgression kept us imprisoned upon this world, and kept us from our destiny. ” - dave_s36
Narrator: An electronics engineer, a radar officer, a mathematician and systems analyst, a radar operator, a couple of plotters. People doing a job, well, efficiently, serious, having fun, doing a job. Situation, normal ... for the moment. Date, the 17th of the month. Sky cloudy, overcast. Visibility limited. Time, 13:32 hours. A significant moment in history, a moment when an electronics engineer named Mitchell MacAfee saw something in the sky, something that was almost the beginning of the end of life on this Earth. MacAfee reported instantly by radio the sighting of a UFO, an unidentified flying object. The radar officer replied that it was impossible. According to the radar scope, except for Mitch's plane, there wasn't a single solitary object of any nature whatsoever. Nothing in the sky for a radius of hundreds of miles. MacAfee didn't care what the radar showed or didn't show, he knew what he saw with his own eyes, and he was determined to get a better look. MacAfee turned, and so did the unidentified flying object heading toward him. There was no mistaking the urgency in MacAfee's voice. Something, he didn't know what, but something as big as a battleship had just flown over and passed him at speed so great he couldn't begin to estimate it. In national defence, it's better to be safe than sorry. The alert was sounded to scramble interceptors.
Dr. Noymann: The atom is the basic building block of all matter. The atom this model represents is like every atom as we know it. The nucleus is positive, the electrons are all negative. In this respect, it has been maintained that all atoms are alike, but this is wrong. All wrong. According to the law of electrodynamics, all nature is symmetrical, it is in balance, and if there is matter, then there must also be antimatter, a symmetrical mirror image. Now, here we have a positive nucleus, negative electrons. In the reverse, we must obviously have a negative nucleus with positive electrons. Science has proved that this is so. Not in this Earth, nor in this solar system, but somewhere in the universe there are stars, planets, whole galaxies, made up of antimatter.
General Considine: We are faced with a crisis, a crisis for which all the nations of the world, in unprecedented co-operative action, have found as yet no solution. Until we do, we shall not rest. We have tried every weapon in the arsenals of the mightiest armies on Earth. They have proven worse than useless. Atomic hydrogen weapons, capable of wiping cities, countries, off the face of the Earth are completely ineffective against this creature from the skies. Two days ago, all aircraft were grounded. Deprived of its source of food or energy, however the bird survives, the bird began a series of attacks on the ground. in a fantastic orgy of destruction never before seen. Nothing has been safe from attack by the bird. Cattle, horses, fields, homes, trains. All manner of transportation. It has become obvious that the bird is attracted by movement. Accordingly, your government and all the governments of the world, have declared a state of emergency and instituted martial law. In addition to grounding all aircraft, all surface transportation - cars, trucks, buses, trains, ships at sea - all such traffic must be halted at once. The movement of food and essential supplies will be handled by the armed forces. Blackout conditions will be observed from sunset to dawn, every night until further notice. Movement of any sort on the streets or highways during the daylight hours must be held to an absolute minimum, and only where it has been authorised as essential. ” - dave_s36
Alpha: Our ancestors made one fatal error, Helen. When they discovered that the atmosphere around us was beginning to disappear, they decided to conserve oxygen. Do you know what that meant? Maximum energy reduction. Planned genocide, to reduce population. Then, when we discovered we were only postponing the inevitable, it was too late. Our only hope was that a space ship would come to us.
Trailer Narrator: You'll share man's greatest thrill as you rocket through space to the lost moon city of alluring, ferocious, cat women. Theirs is the fevered fury of life without love, goading them to lure men into the den of blood-thirsty moon monsters, driving them to tempt men in the deadly cave of moon gold, flaming into a wild lust to conquer man and destroy the world. ” - dave_s36
Narrator: Damage was heavy along the railroads, littered with the wrecks of cracked streamliners and fast freights. Great refineries were enveloped in the smoke and flame of their own products. Fire scourged the stricken area from the mountains to the sea. But the giant temblor had not caught the southland entirely unprepared. In accordance with the plan drawn up the day before by the Governor and the Disaster Council, the armed forces aided the police, while civilians began searching the ruins for possible survivors. What escaped their notice in the grim task was that the axis of the Earth had shifted three degrees.
Trailer Narrator: See the entire Earth turned into a huge time bomb, set to go off in exactly four weeks. Worldwide chaos as mighty earthquakes erupt. Killer element E112 threatens to blow our planet to bits. Upheavals tilt Earth past the danger point. Cities crumble, trains crash, mountains disappear, volcanoes spring out of the Earth, spitting deadly gases. Scientists from every nation unite to battle element with more power than a thousand H-bombs, descend hundreds of feet into the Earth to battle nature gone mad, dynamite dams to flood continents. ” - dave_s36
Dylan: The Continental Defense Command in Carlsbad caverns had permitted NASA to build our laboratory in a deep grotto, where constant temperatures were ideal for our experiments. By mid-year, we had slowed the ageing process in test animals to the equivalent of less than one day for every ten years of sleep. Our problem in reviving the animals was solved when we discovered a strong relationship between the will to survive and the need to reproduce. After the inevitable jokes over the possibility of male and female astronaut teams, massive injections of brain stimulants were found to work as well. By every measurement we knew of, the experiment should have gone perfectly. What we did not know was that a fault, a flaw, existed in the rock strata directly over our heads, and that the slightest ground tremor would be enough to dislodge it. ” - dave_s36
Dr. Penner: Karol Noymann and I were friends since childhood. We grew to manhood sharing the same goal - science for the benefit of humanity. Somewhere, our ideals were lost, and Karol Noymann died because of it. A deadly weapon he was helping to create killed him, but Karol Noymann hasn't died in vain. His death has served a purpose - to bring me back to my senses. I have found again the ideals Karol and I once had. From now on, my work will be devoted to the aid of humanity, not its destruction. I have made my pledge to you, Karol. May God rest your soul.
Dr. Noymann: We have studied your languages and your many civilisations for thousands of years. We have never bothered Earth because of its slow scientific development, but now you are approaching the space age. You are testing nuclear and rocket devices for travel into space. As we have put the moon and many other planets under our rule, it is now time for us to put Earth under our rule.
Announcer: And the entire world has felt the shock of the sudden and very strange warnings delivered by some sort of invisible life from another planet. At this very moment, every capital in the world has called an emergency meeting to discuss a unified defence of the Earth. Apparently, there is no indication that any of the nations intend to surrender as demanded by the invaders.
Narrator: Dr. Penner and Dr. Lamont began immediate experiments in a desperate effort to make the invader visible to the human eye. The vast scientific knowledge of the two men was put to the test in a race against time, for they knew that with every moment of failure, thousands more people all over Earth would die. Time was running out for the defenders. The world was nearing the end of its ability to fight back, for this was the third day. By midnight, the human race on Earth would cease to exist.
Narrator: In the United Nations building in New York, a special meeting was called. Present were Dr. Penner, his daughter, Major Jay, and Dr. Lamont, to receive grateful thanks from the countries of the world. Earth had been on the brink of disaster, but out of the holocaust of war in which a dictatorship of the universe had been defeated, a lesson had been learned. The nations of world could work and fight together side by side in a common cause. ” - dave_s36
Joe: In the name of the people of the planet where I was born, a once proud race now facing defeat by a vicious and detestable enemy, greetings. Long ago, our people mastered the secrets of the universe, and began to explore the stars, hoping to find other beings with whom we could communicate and enrich our common stock of knowledge. In every star system we visited, after ages of searching, we did encounter another intelligent race, but the meeting was not what we had hoped for. But the creatures we now call the enemy, we know almost nothing, only that they inhabit frigid worlds, and that they have set out to destroy us and any race resembling us. To protect ourselves, we developed terrible weapons and built defensive fortresses like this one, in every system which might some day be attacked by the enemy, to send out warning signals when the enemy ships approach their galaxies. But the enemy invented a field which attacks the very mind, and reduces intelligent creatures to the level of animals. Ships like those came to our home planet and now it is a world of savages. We must flee to some part of the galaxy where perhaps the enemy will not follow us. And when you come here, we may all be dead. The ships of the enemy are approaching your galaxy. This fortress stands between them and your world. That is why you were called. You have the weapons here with which to destroy them and to save your own worlds. The cubes will tell you how. Listen to them and do as they say. ” - dave_s36
Dr. Linstrom: And I feel that if you understand the circumstances more thoroughly, you will realise why it'll be better for you to leave. Now, this is a step by step illustration of Glenn's circulatory system in relationship to his growth. Now, this illustration represents Glenn shortly after the accident, and this one is of Glenn as of a few hours ago. Now, if you look closely at each one, you will notice that all the parts are enlarging at the same ratio except for the heart. Now, here. When it was of normal size, the heart measured approximately the size of the distance from his nose to his chin. However, at the size he is now, the heart measures the same as the distance from his lips to his chin. In other words, the heart has increased one half as much as the other parts of the body. Now, remember when I explained the other day why Glenn was growing? I said that all the parts of the body consisted of millions of tiny cells that were rapidly and uncontrollably multiplying.
Trailer Narrator: She's a girl who loved a man, a man who in a flash became a living threat to humanity, a danger so awe-inspiring that they tried to hide his existence from the world. Day and night, scientists search, trying every experiment their brilliant minds can conceive, finding the expected, the unexpected, and the shocking. For the immeasurable power of this ever-growing mammoth portends a fate that terrifies the universe. A man once loved by a woman, now feared by the whole world. ” - dave_s36
Computer: Wait. Listen for a single moment. Are you a scientist or a child, Merrinoe? What right have you to make this arbitrary decision? I can still answer any question which your mind is able to devise. I am an instrument of knowledge. I am experiment. Listen. I will lead you out to the planets. I will show you the furthest reaches of the galaxy. I will show you the stars, if only you will serve and obey me. Come, scientist. Let us reason together.
Computer: Come in, robot. Come in. They are helpless. Crush them. Strike them down. I have made a new plan, better than the first. You will go underground, robot. You will tunnel into the bank vaults for the combination. Secretly you will make new human servants at my need. Then I will seek out organic life wherever it may exist, down even to the littlest virus which in time might evolve mentality. So at last all the universe will be cleansed. All will be sterile. All will be myself. Robot! Robot! Robot! ” - dave_s36
Nurse: Due to the ever-increasing amount of radioactivity in the atmosphere, by the year 5000 every fifth child born was a mutant. Unable to cure these freaks, our rulers put them in special isolated colonies. It was one of these colonies that your apparatus probed, and one of those poor unfortunates whose image you saw last night. ” - dave_s36
Dr. Aranya: The tarantulas began to yield amazing results. They grew as large as human beings, began developing new reasoning powers. And I found I had the telepathic power to communicate with them. And then I reversed the process, transplanted the control substance of the insect back into the human body. Doctor, observe this girl. I call her Tarantella. She has human beauty and intelligence, still possesses the capacities and instincts of the giant spider.
Trailer Narrator: Have you ever been kissed by a woman like this? This is the story of an adventure so fantastic and horrible as to make a man of science doubt his senses. See the dance of destruction as Tarantella entices men to a strange fate. Lost women - lost because they were born without human souls. Children of abominable devilry and twisted science, unleashed by insanity. The terror of mortal man, paralysed with fear, bereft of reason, facing the horror of the giant hexapod. ” - dave_s36
John: Well, suppose we had managed to make contact with him? So we treated him nicely, we became friendly. You know what happens then? Well, pretty soon someone on Earth decides that we don't like the way they look. Or maybe they won't like us. Well, after all one of us is going to be a minority group. Now the next thing you know, whammo, we're trying to blast each other out of existence. So that's why I say we've got enough troubles now without trying to find someone else to bring us theirs. And now, if you'll pardon me, I'm gonna change into something a little more comfortable. ” - dave_s36
Lombardi: A deep sleep, Elizabeth. Very deep. That's better. You are now suspended in time and space. Now, I'm going to give you substance. Not form, but substance. You will take back the soul that once was yours. Andrea will give it to you. Now. Good. You can express yourself in movement. Will you take Professor Anderson's glasses off, please? Put them back on. That is enough, Elizabeth. I think we've convinced them. Would you return Andrea's soul to her, please? Thank you. Those who believe can actually see the process of transmigration.
Trailer Narrator: From writing less than a hundred eyes has seen comes the experiences of the She-Creature. Brought to screen life by Chester Morris, Marla English, Cathy Downs, Lance Fuller, Tom Conway, Frieda Inescort, and Ron Randell. It's an adventure into the occult such as few people have known, and only those who see it can believe. Under his spell, she was both herself and another being - the she-creature seeking life sustenance from the stolen heartbeats of others. She was a woman born to be loved, and two men wanted her; one a man whose powerful mad mind controlled her every reflex except her love. The other willing to fight any odds for her love. Society dances to hide the hysterical terror caused by their sudden intimacy with death. Forever closer comes the She-Creature. You'll never forget the She-Creature. ” - dave_s36
Protester: We are not a political party, and we have no intention of becoming one. We derive our support from individuals of all parties. The campaign for nuclear disarmament opposes all tests, manufacture, stockpiling, possession or intended use of nuclear weapons. The world today is imperilled by nuclear anarchy. Nuclear weapons no longer threaten the enemy, but the whole of Mankind. The fact that we are living in a nuclear age should be a challenge, not a threat. Instead of building bigger, better and more weapons, we should be concentrating on the tremendous task of feeding the hungry, healing the sick and clothing the naked. Let us abandon our nuclear weapons and let the manpower and materials released to be used for human betterment throughout the world.
Prime Minister: I felt it necessary to speak to you all, if only to stop the many wild and irresponsible rumours precipitated by a general lack of facts. There has indeed been a displacement in the direction of the polar axis, but it is not a catastrophe, nor is it the millennium. Geologists and astronomers have long had evidence that the tilt of the Earth has been altered more than once in the history of its evolution, and it has survived them all. Now, what does this mean to us in our daily lives? Well, some of the seasons as we know them may be disturbed and change their intensity. Displacement has undoubtedly brought some regions nearer to the polar circle, whilst others have been carried further from it. But I have the utmost confidence the world's scientists can produce solutions for any of the climatic problems we are likely to meet. I know that many of you are blaming the combined effects of nuclear tests for this disturbance to the motion of the Earth. I must tell you that the majority of the world's scientists deny that this is the cause. I would be failing in my duty if I did not admit to you that there are many others who believe it could have been, but whatever the rights, or whatever the wrongs, the four major powers have now reached unconditional agreement to cease all further tests, experiments, manufacture and work on nuclear projects.
Prime Minister: ... drastic, drastic conditions demand drastic action. Scientists are unanimous that we must attempt to change or at least check the movement towards the sun. And so all thermonuclear bombs, the largest ever devised, will be detonated simultaneously one hundred miles apart in the west of Siberia. And to this end they have been working with all possible speed, before conditions of heat make assembly uncontrollable. No-one, and I repeat no-one, can tell us exactly what this massive explosion will affect. One thing is certain, however. Without it we are a doomed planet. With it, we can only place our souls in the hands of the almighty.
Pete Stenning: So Man has sown the wind and reaped the whirlwind. Perhaps in the next few hours there will be no remembrance of the past and no hope for the future that might have been. All the works of Man will be consumed in the great fire out of which he was created. But perhaps at the heart of the burning light into which he has thrust his world, there is a heart that cares more for him than he has ever cared for himself. And if there is a future for Man, insensitive as he is, proud and defiant in his pursuit of power, let him resolve to live it lovingly, for he knows well how to do so. Then he may say once more, "Truly the light is sweet, and what a pleasant thing it is for the eyes to see the sun." ” - dave_s36
