1001 films I consider to be above average (with an attempt to order them)

A purely personal list of films I have seen that I consider to be above average (for whatever reason: maybe because the film touched me, or it pleased me esthetically, or I thought it was sociologically important), so not necessarily the "best" films or even the films I like best (although there would be a lot of overlap there). I tried to order them, but once past the first 25-30 or so, it became more and more difficult to rank them. I think it is safe to assume that I like number 105 better than number 684, but I would not want to take an oath on number 836 being better than 914, for instance.
