Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction, known for its focus on "High-tech and low life" ("High Tech, Low Life") and takes its name from the combination of cybernetics and punk. Blending advanced science, such as information technology and cybernetics with some degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order. According to Lawrence Person: "The classic cyberpunk characters are outcasts, apart, lonely, living on the margins of society, generally despotic future where daily life is impacted by rapid technological change, an ambiguous atmosphere of computerized information and modification invasive of the human body. "

The cyberpunk world is an eerie place, dark, with networked computers that dominate all aspects of everyday life. Giant multinational corporations have replaced the state as centers of power. The battle of the excluded alien against a totalitarian system is a common theme in science fiction, however, in such conventional science fiction systems tend to be sterile, ordered, and controlled by the state. In contrast to this, in cyberpunk, show up the bowels of the corporatocracy, and the Sisyphean battle between his power by disillusioned renegades.

The cyberpunk stories are seen as fictional representations of this from an extrapolation and speculation of communication technologies, such as the Internet.
