2012 Top 15 Summer Box Office Predictions

by Bluemark5 | created - 17 Apr 2012 | updated - 24 May 2012 | Public

This is how much money i think movies will make this summer (May-August) and the order. Last year movies like The Help and Bridesmaids didnt even make my list so this year i tried to look outside the box for potential sleeper and also movies that i think are a little overrated like last years Cowboys and Aliens.

Summer disapointments: 1. Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter (After Cowboys and Aliens, people just are not eating up crazy fatasies.) 2. Total Recall (Will be competing head to head with The Borne Legacy and I pick Legacy to not bomb out) 3. The Dictator (Johnny Depp will out charm Borat that weekend and wiht The Avengers still competing and Men in Black comming in the near future, this is the movie that will be lost in the cracks) 4. Battleship (Not so good reviews so far and doesnt seem to be a lot of fan bzz surrounding it) 5. ParaNorman ( The tail end of the animated movies of the summer, movies that it looks like (Monster House, Corline) didnt do well at the box office)

This movie is a No Brainer if there ever was one. The Avengers may seem like the top superhero this year but it has more movies coming out around it to divert people away from seeing it multiple times. Plus this is the last movie in the franchise and Batman has the most loyal fans out there, the sky is the limit on this movie

Ill put this one as a Wild Card, even though i know it will make at least 150 million but this is the best Superhero Summer ever and this is the movie that is going to hold people over in between The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. Also a lot of people, like myself, are just curious as to how the this movie is going to be, Other than the villian every other part seems to have been better casted than the original film

4. Brave (2012)

A No Brainer this summer, Pixar has a choke hold on quality animation and even the terrible Cars 2 was top five in the summer last year. Also this movie looks interesting and a lot of people are excited for the first original story since Up, also it comes out 2 weeks after Madagasscar and 3 weeks before Ice Age so it shouldn't have much to compete with for family films

5. Prometheus (I) (2012)

This is a No Brainer, so much hype, a lot of quality star power in the film and a lot of mystery surrounding the plot and how exactly it connects to the Alien movies.

6. Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012)

This movie is a No Brainer, Many people underestimate the power of this franchise and i could not believe that the last movie made almost a billion dollars, plus it is the last animated movie to be released until Paranorman which wont make near as much money as this will

7. Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

My first Dark Horse of the Summer, this movie is gaining more and more momentum and looks like it will be very good. With 3 A List actors leading it into theater and from the previews looks like it will really appeal to all genders if men are willing to give Kirsten Stewart a chance plus amazing special effects and Theron looking as evil as ever, this movie had a real chance to make a lot

8. Men in Black 3 (2012)

This is A disapointment by Franchise and Will Smith standards and will be the first under performing film of the summer, but the demand just isnt there for this movie, Josh Brolin is not a charming hard ass like Tommy Lee Jones is, hes just a hard ass and comming out in the Middle of May with some stiff competition surrounding it I just dont see it living up to the past

9. The Watch (I) (2012)

A Dark horse movie that is having a hard time walking the line due to The case in FL but never underestimate the powers of comedy, and this summer doesnt have a lot of pure comedy to offer. This is my "Bridesmaids" of this summer, a group cast that will play off each other and each actor has his own following (Ben Stiller, Joan Hill, Vince Vaughn).

10. Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012)

A No Brainer The Third animated film on the list, I feel this movie will live and die by its opening weekend. Its the first animation to be released for the summer and should have a big opening. However after that Brave opens up 2 weeks later and will take pretty much all of its audience. Also on its opening weekend it will be competing with Promethus, Yikes! This weekend will be hard on The wives of America, do you let you husband go watch the fantastic Sci-Fi film, or do you force him to take your ungreatful children to watch this film? Divorce lawyers prepare

Another Wild Card, The last Johnny Depp summer movie to not be him dressed as a pirate was Public Enemies and that just made it to 100 million dollars, but never underestimate the power of him or Tim Burton, and im also not going to overestimate it either, im not expecting another Alice and Wonderland here.

12. The Bourne Legacy (2012)

Call it a Wild Card. Spy movies have a pretty good rap sheet in August with the other Borne movies and Salt a couple of years ago. The Borne name will be a lot like the Spiderman name and people will be curious to see how it connects to the other films but i have a bad feeling there isnt going to be anything new here, and The Borne series really sparked from its wow factor of new ideas and twist

Oh this Dark Horse movie, i so want it to work!! This movie i am rooting for this summer because if it doesnt make as much money as just Go With It did then i think we can say goodbye to Ranchy Sandler for along time. A lot of people are excited to see him back in a goofy man child role and with the following him and Samburg have i just cant image this not becoming this years Horrible Bosses.

14. Ted (2012)

This movie is the Wildest of Wild Cards. It looks so funny and insane and it could possibly be the funniest thing all year. But it also has a lot of Family Guy element and that will turn off just as many people as it turns on but i really think a lot of younger people will go out ad see it while waiting on The Dark Knight cuz they dont wanna see Ice Age

15. The Expendables 2 (2012)

I think this movie is a guerantee to just get past the 100 million mark due to the good reception of the first one and the expansion of Aronld and Willis's role plus the new addition are pretty exciting
