At first I wasn't sure about Jackie Earle Haley portraying Freddy instead of Robert Englund but then I watched Watchmen and got a taste of what he could do, and promptly went out of my way to see this film to find out that he's spectacular in it. It's also nice to hear Jackie's normal voice in it as well, he's actually kind of adorable LOL.
Freddy will always be one of the most legendary characters in my eyes, and Jackie didn't disappoint, neither did the other actors who danced around on screen until they were killed! =D ” - Ravenlich

To begin, this is my second favourite movie of all time, and I'll keep this short even though I want to rant on and on about it.
Pan's Labyrinth is in Spanish (so here come the subtitles) and is more of an adult-type fairy tale, with realistic elements of life merged with fantasy and horror. It grabs you in emotionally, not only with the storyline but with the characters. Horror aspects include the Pale Man, I suppose the toad, in a sense, and there are a few bits of gore scattered around as well. It doesn't overdo the horror but it doesn't underdo it either, everything is balanced.
