10. Andersonville (1996 TV Movie)
167 min | Drama, History, War
The story of the most notorious Confederate prisoner of war camp in the American Civil War.
Impressive view on a civil war prison camp. As in all prisoncamps, life's no daisy. A group of POW's called the Raiders attack new fish and rule the camp fortheir own benefit only. This leads to moral issues, heroism, pattritism, all he moralising things americans are so fund about. This movie doesn't overdo the moralising what makes it more impressive.
Vew well known actors, lot of lesser know but not lesser acting actors.
Detail: not one woman in the whole movie.

16. Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007 TV Movie)
TV-14 | 133 min | Drama, History, Western
A historic chronicle based on the book by Dee Brown explains how Native Americans were displaced as the United States expanded west.
Impressive aerial shots, starting with a birds eye view on the slaying of general Custers compagnies. A little overacting now and than, I'm not that fund about Adam Beachs acting.
Less confronting for an European i guess, it was both interesting and shocking to see how the indians were forced into reservats and to see how the good white christians kill these people for only one reason: greed.
Finishing touch of this historical massacre at Woonded Knee was the fact the after the slaughter the soldiers were rewarded with a medal...
