“ 11-03-12
If you just wanna doze off to ancient times, this is a nice movie for it. Good scenes like cavelery jumping on a roman turtoise, gladiator fights, mass fighting scenes and historically not too inaccurate armor and outfits will take you there.

Crixus' performance was poor, not well casted. The plotline with Draba as "teacher" is unlogical and thereby weak. Also, the morale in this movie is modern western. A lot of free interpretation around the on main themes quite accurate story of Spartacus.

And off course: a hero needs a woman so enter Varinia. She is more emancipated than most women are now, but still manages to make me yawn. Goodlooking as she is.

Still, an enjoyable movie if don't expect too much. ” - klontenkoker
