But its the truth. This film IS wasted. I think the basic idea is original and thought-provoking. But stupid filming equals stupid movie right? This is one of the most boring film I have seen (of course next to blade runner).

Just going through the plot summary here in IMDb I was impressed at first. It was not until I saw the film when I changed my opinion. First of all, the pace is sooooooooooooo slow that you can easily doze off. And nothing nowhere is clear about the film, what do you expect?? No solid story. Nothing advances the plot. “ I may be dropping this on you. But let's face it. I don't have to explain how original this one is. But there's absolutely nothing in the part of direction, cinematography or characterization that makes good with this film.

First of all, why should the characters speak to each other in whispers??? Can't they speak like normal people?? And the director wants us to listen to this??? Can't even make out whether they spoke or belched.

Also, there's literally nothing to the movie beyond the twist ending. NOTHING!!! I am certainly not a stupid to watch a film for more than 2hrs just for a small (badly shown) twist in the end. ” - Bharath Ram

The same whispering dialogue thing also applies to this film. And I have never liked Shyamalan's slow-paced filming (I didn't know about it then). Unarguably, interesting concept and amazingly interesting story.

“ An old film but still senseless. As the title goes the concept should be great. IT IS! Agreed!! A man becomes transparent and passes through walls, uses other people's life and youth to keep himself alive. FINE. Went on well until then.

I would also agree if you say it was difficult to show such special effects in those times. But won't he do anything further?? I mean, will he just keep going through walls all through the film and scare his friends?? Won't it even dawn on his mind to terrorize this world or something??

And what's with the ending? What does it mean? Either he has to die or be caught, not just go away without meaning anything apparently. THE ENDING IS THE PRIMARY REASON FOR INCLUDING THIS FILM IN THIS LIST!!! ” - Bharath Ram

But still making this into a movie is a very good idea, if only Shyamalan had not messed this one up. I think most people felt this one to be boring because it had some very slow moving parts here and there. Besides, there were not enough action sequences, just the talk about all the action.

But that's it?? Will there not be anything creative and with turns all through the film?? Just plain stupid junk and more junk before the end??

Just the final dialogue of the movie makes sense and nothing else has to be in the film???

But John Carpenter has proved it. Proved he can worsen any film with his touch. (Please tell me what is the opposite of Midas Touch so that I can describe him with).

After a disaster called The Thing (1982), he has wasted another good concept. The slow slow pace again. And nothing whatsoever happens in the film except identifying the aliens. And what makes one think that we have a bad security in Earth here, that aliens can break into easily? Must there not have been a thoughtful way of making aliens take over? “ I was actually impressed about this film when I heard about the story line. Never-as-before concept. And when you seriously think of it, it gives you the creeps. And even the ideas inside the ship, like a shield to reflect the sunlight is worth a compliment.

But it failed enormously in the storyline. Very slow and even more importantly very disorienting. Nothing advances the plot at all!! Pure junk for the eyes and ears. To add to which is stupid sound-effects and and senseless cinematography. Much of the film shows some crap and only a few scenes make sense. And all through the climax the camera keeps moving insanely showing nothing meaningful. By the time it ended, I was glad it was over. ” - Bharath Ram

“ I know I will get tons of comments for this. But no other film has disappointing me. I can see this film in almost every science fiction list. And sure I had a high opinion before watching it. But I can assure I simply never stuck with the same opinion once I watched it.

First off, what kind of a story is it? The film must instill some interest on the story and not squelch it so strongly. Especially the climax was SICKENING. I was just waiting for it to end. Could not bear the torture. If they wanted to make some out-of-the-time special effects, why not make it for a good film?? Why for this stupid, foolish, idiotic, tasteless, senseless, insane film??? (need any more adjectives?).

“ It is definitely a good idea to remake a true classic and a fine artistic movie. But did a total bad job. All the time the characters simply talk and do boring things. The film is so very slow and lacks the thrill of the 1956 version. I am not able to believe how many talk positively about this movie and go as far as saying that this one is better than its original version. No thrill, no fun, no tense feeling, no heroic scenes, bad acting, bad direction, bad locations for filming................. on the whole there is nothing positive. Especially in the mid-portions the film, in the part where we come to know Charlize Theron is Hancock's wife, the film completely lost its flavour. The very same slow pace is maintained until the end and this snatches away all the interest. I need not even mention the horrible ending here. I almost went to sleep in the end. “ I understand many like this film. I also understand that the basic idea is very innovative. To think about the idea, its totally thrilling. But what we get in the final product on-screen is a lullaby. All we can do is sleep through the film and wake up in the end for the murder. The film gets so boring especially where the old man gets a ride on the rainy and where they keep talking. There is absolutely no thrill in any part of the movie, given that its a thriller film. The filmmaking is all bungled up and sometimes the film loses connection between various parts. If made well this movie would have come off like Hitchcock's "Stranger on a Train" or may be even like "Dial 'M' for Murder". Wasted is the right word. ” - Bharath Ram

It is very pragmatic to say no one cares whether or not a dynasty's king still lives, at least I do not care. And I seriously do not even want to understand what they are trying to tell us. It's going to be stupid anyway.

And might I point out the ending, what's so entertaining about which? But the time it ended, I did not even care to know what went on, because the 50 rupees I spent for it are wasted either way.

“ Another horribly boring film that made it to the list. I am sure many MGR fans would disagree with me. And back then, Tamil films shoot up in score just for a few shots in a rich foreign country. This film takes place almost for the whole of the movie in foreign locations.

The film has a good concept because it is very ingenious and rather impressive to ideate storing the energy from a lightening into a bullet. And such an invention's formula would obviously be pursued by many, including the bad guys. Of course, an MGR starrer. That is a credit.

But everything else deserves to go into trash. Who cares whether MGR plays dual roles to protect the formula or even brings the sky down to impress the female leads? And those many number of women actresses are absolutely unnecessary. And who cares whether the bad guys make 100 or 1000 futile plans? There is nothing that advances the story any way. Not even in a simple way was the plot thickened.

Until the climax, it was a tiresome ride. You get a "Oh! When will it end?" feeling. The climax was well attempted, and somewhat entertaining when compared with most of the film. Come what may, this is one of the most overrated movies of all time. ” - Bharath Ram

Just ghosts coming and going all the time?? And some stupid lawyer guy wanting to take their money. And, is the housemaid seriously barmy to not tell them everything??

“ What stupidity is this??? It does not even look like a murder mystery for the first half-an-hour. Till the murder happens, they keep talking about some senseless trash about how great this "Hercule Poirot" is. Why not let him do the action???

And nothing of the inquiries or conversations, after the murder, truly means anything. Just gap-fillers all through the film. And about the final solution to the mystery, there can be two viewpoints.

GOOD: Very improbable, so unexpected, can qualify for a twist. But again, it does not make us raise our eyebrows. Just "okay" kind of twist.

STUPID: By the time it ends one really does not care about the solution. The attitude is like "WILL THIS HELL EVEN END?". And what's with the "double solution" thing??. There must only be one solution, which is shown. And again so improbable and childish twist. Not very intellgent. ” - Bharath Ram

None of those very few action scenes present in the movie were satisfying. They talk a lot in the movie than do it. They keep talking about the film's idea all over the movie and hardly get anywhere near the result. The climax is simply messed up, rather too simple and boring. The beginning and the middle portions just left me sleepy. Can't they not come up with something good to fill the places until the twist. Just plain stupid junk??

“ I must have added this movie here a long time back, but it did not strike me then. And except for Vin Diesel playing the anti-hero Riddick and some good special effects work, there is nothing entertaining at all.

The plot is just fantastic. Simple yet has the strength within. But some stupid director spoilt the fun of the whole film. Half the lines spoken by all the characters are not audible. And the whole tone of the movie is so very boring that you can half-die. There is nothing to improve the plot from time to time.

Opposing to the usual standards of a good film, there are only rare improvements in the story that makes us see the film seriously. After those few seconds, the boring tone seeps in again. What type of a stupid filmmaking is this?

The climax where Riddick shoots out the aliens was also not up to any good. There are more than a thousand ways in which David Twohy could have bettered the film but he made a very bad job.

But the reason the film takes the second last job, it starred Vin Diesel in his breakthrough role and in such a well-suited role that no one else can ever replace Diesel for Riddick.

P.S. - In fact, the video games starring Riddick are much much better and way more great than the movies. ” - Bharath Ram
