Mortal Kombat: The Reboot

I recently re-watched the two Live Action Mortal Kombat adaptations from the 90's and it got me thinking. If and WHEN Hollywood decides to remake this film franchise, and you know they will, who should the new cast and crew be? Well Here are my picks:

PS And just to clarify why there are about +30 people on here, its because im sure whatever WB is planning for the reboot, its going to be a series or TRILOGY of films. That way they can make more $$$ and milk the franchise dry.

Andy On
Actor, San taam
Andy On was born on May 11, 1977, in Providence, Rhode Island. A non-martial artist, Andy had always loved Jackie Chan movies and emulated his moves from flips and kicks at his home. In early 2000, while working as a bartender in Rhode Island, someone suggested he should become an actor. Andy, who didn't like the bartending job anyway...
“ Quan Chi.

Cmon, The man practically played the character already in "True Legend." Bring him onboard, and dose him in all that make-up once again for the MK reboot. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

2.
Ken Watanabe
Actor, Inception
Ken Watanabe was born on October 21, 1959 in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. In 1978, he moved to Tokyo to pursue his career as an actor. He drew the attention of the critics when Yukio Ninagawa, a famous Japanese director, chose him for the lead role in one of his plays even though Ken was still an acting student...
“ Shang Tsung.

This guy is awesome, and has proven to be an acting talent, his role in Batman Begins reminded me of Shang Tsung, so naturally hes my choice for the character in the reboot. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

3.
Nathan Jones
Nathan Jones rose upon the world strongman scene in 1995 and showed promise to become perhaps the top competitor in the world. At 6' 11" and 360 lbs., the giant Australian known as Megaman was an imposing sight and used his great size and strength to place high in the World Musclepower Championships...
“ Shao Kahn.

Hes got the height, well maybe not quite at 7 feet, but At 6' 11" and 360 lbs, he has the built and is a giant of a man to fill in the boots of the almighty ruler of Outworld. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

4.
Yun-Fat Chow
Chow Yun Fat is a charismatic, athletically built and energetic Asian-born film star who first came to the attention of western audiences via his roles in the high-octane/blazing guns action films of maverick HK director John Woo. “ Raiden.

Raiden has always been Asian to me, casting a white man in the role (with that hat, you know the one, from the game ahahaha) was just plain wrong IMO. Chow Yun Fat is my pick, he not only brings name recognition and talent, but at his age can bring that "mythic wisdom" Raiden should have. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

5.
Takeshi Kaneshiro
The 1/2 Taiwanese and 1/2 Japanese Takeshi Kaneshiro may have started out as a puerile teen idol in the Chinese entertainment scene, but he's since become a proper film star in his own right. Whether by his own design or not, the boyishness that marked his first steps into showbiz has evolved into a cool...
“ Liu Kang.

I believe Robin Shou was Perfect in the first film, but since this is a reboot it wouldnt make sense to bring him or any actors from the previous films back. For this Version my pick would be Takeshi Kaneshiro, Not only does he look the part, he also has the star power & charisma to carry a film of this magnitude. He is already a superstar in Asia, and has made his debut in America in the highly acclaimed House of Flying Daggers.

Oh and recent comments have brought up that he may be too "pretty boy" looking for the role, well my respond to that is for you to pick up The Bourne Trilogy starring Matt Damon and/or The Man From Nowhere starring Bin Won, both of those films had "pretty boy" leads and in the end-result delivered the good in spades.

Who the hell says you cant look pretty and also Kick some ass anyway? ;-D ” - Eric-Scissorhands

“ Johnny Cage.

Hes supposed to be the comic relief of the film. Anyone who watches Supernatural knows this man has GREAT comic Timing, and when the situation calls, he can do drama too.

I mean seriously, just picture Jensen in the shades, expensive suits, spiting out wise cracks and bad pick up lines to Katheryn Winnick as Sonya. It would be PERFECT. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

13.
“ Shujinko.

See him in Kill Bill Vol. 2 as Pai Mei, the white hair and beard only enhances this mans bad ass-ness... The man is a legend having starred in many Shaw Bros kung fu classics, and if your a fan of kung fu flicks, you should know this. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

Scott attended Bishop Vesey's Grammar School in Sutton Coldfield...
“ Scorpion.

Granted Scorpion is a Ninja, and Ninjas tend to be Japanese Assassins from Japan. Obviously Scott doesnt fit the "ethnic profile", however i personally would prove him an exception. With his phenomenal martial arts skills it shouldn't be much of a problem to believe him as a highly trained ninja from hell thirsty for vengeance, just alter his origins a bit, hes still from Japan, and still a Ninja, just a white Ninja who moved there for some reason. lulz.

He reminds me of a young Jean Claude Van Damme. The Man is a GREAT fighter and Scorpions fight scene should stand out. Plus it doesnt hurt that (like Byung-hun Lee in Gi Joe) Mr. Adkins has already had experience playing a ninja in the straight to dvd Martial arts flick appropriately entitled... "Ninja." which came out in 2009. (NOT to be confused with "Ninja Assassin" which starred Korean Pop star Rain that also came out in 2009.)

PS - Check him out as Boyka in Undisputed 2 & 3. The man can kick some serious ass. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

No. its because he was pretty bad-ass in Ninja Assassin. Thats why. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

22.
“ Sindel.

Check her out in the Forbidden Kingdom. ;-D The white hair only makes her that much more attractive.

“ Baraka.

I like the new revised look and history of Baraka in Mortal Kombat Rebirth, id like to see that carry on to the reboot, with Tony Jaa. So far he has only played heros and underdogs, playing a villain for a change would be a welcomed change of pace. Remember Jet Li in Lethal Weapon 4? Prior to that he was known as the Chinese hero Wong Fei Hung in the Once Upon a Time in China series, he crossed over to the West as the main baddie in a Lethal Weapon flick, why shouldn't Jaa do the same? ” - Eric-Scissorhands

Foo is Eurasian (his father is of Asian descent, His Mother of Caucasian descent.), has the skills, and the experience (He was the lead Jin, in another Video Game adaptation, Tekken as well as staring in the fan short Street Fighter Legacy as Ryu.)

My first choice was Keanu Reeves, because of his role in the Matrix Films, then i saw Tekken and re-watched the Protector (With Tony Jaa) and realized Foo is a better fit. Another plus is that he is apart of Jackie Chan's Stunt Team, and you know those MoFo's are some of the hardest, craziest, talented, and downright toughest people in the business. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

“ Potential CAMEO:

I know i said none of the previous actors should appear but what i actually ment was none of them should REPRISE their roles, Because i really want Robin to be involved, he made the first film for me, and was the main reason i endured the TERRIBLE sequel, he too me atleast s what i think of when i think of the MK movies, it would be great to have him Cameo as a wiseman or a monk or something. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

“ Potential CAMEO:

36.
Dan Pesina
Born 1959 in Chicago, Illinois, Danny Pesina has been studying martial arts since 1972. He began his formal training with Master Guo Jianhua in 1989 studying both external and internal Wushu. “ Potential CAMEO:

Like Ho-Sung Pak, he modeled for the original games, i believe he played Johnny Cage, Scorpion & Sub Zero. Cameos could be fun when done right, and having he and Ho Sung Pak show up would please the hardcore MK fans who have been there from the start. ” - Eric-Scissorhands

“ Possible Director.

At a distant 2nd choice its gotta be Snyder, He already has a close relationship with WB (the company producing the potential reboot) and based of his passed films, 300, Sucker Punch, & Watchmen, his style fits perfectly with this film. The Visuals are sure to be insane with him behind the Camera, and not to mention hell have a field day with Slow Mo ops in a Mortal Kombat flick.

***Yes, Sucker Punch sucked, but there is no denying his eye for gorgeous visuals... the action sequences in 300 and Watchmen were not to shabby either.*** ” - Eric-Scissorhands

40.
