- DirectorSpike JonzeStarsNicolas CageMeryl StreepChris CooperA lovelorn screenwriter becomes desperate as he tries and fails to adapt 'The Orchid Thief' by Susan Orlean for the screen.Don't quite know how to describe it. It's not to everyones taste, but Nicolas Cage playing an overweight, balding, nervous wreck of a writer with an intorable twin brother is great. Less Ghost Rider Nic.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsKevin SpaceyAnnette BeningThora BirchA sexually frustrated suburban father has a mid-life crisis after becoming infatuated with his daughter's best friend.Kevin Spacey throwing everything away and stripping the plastic from his American suburbs is extemely satisfying. "For you Brad? I got FIVE!" "*beep* me your Majesty!" Theres far too many great quotes. The soundtrack is brilliant aswel.
- DirectorJames L. BrooksStarsJack NicholsonHelen HuntGreg KinnearA single mother and waitress, a misanthropic author, and a gay artist form an unlikely friendship after the artist is assaulted in a robbery.A confluence of my three favourite things; misanthropy, racism and Jack Nicholson.
- DirectorDavid ZuckerStarsTrey ParkerMatt StoneDian BacharTwo childhood friends are pro athletes of a national sport called BASEketball, a hybrid of baseball and basketball, and must deal with a greedy businessman scheming against their team.I could watch this on mute. The facial expressions say it all. Trey Parker getting ambushed by eggs in a Saving Private Ryan style is perhaps my favourite moment.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMichael KeatonJack NicholsonKim BasingerThe Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being Jack Napier, a criminal who becomes the clownishly homicidal Joker.A lovely dark twist by Burton. It's a mature step from the Adam West series, but still early enough to be considered pretty silly. It's a perferct balance. Jack Nicholson as the Joker - great. I won't bring up a "who's better?" for the joker role. Ledger and Nicholson were both great.
- DirectorTed DemmeStarsJohnny DeppPenélope CruzFranka PotenteThe story of how George Jung, along with the Medellín Cartel headed by Pablo Escobar, established the American cocaine market in the 1970s in the United States.BOSTON GEORGE. Actually can't think of anything to say about it. Great movie. I'd blow it.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsLeonardo DiCaprioTom HanksChristopher WalkenBarely 17 yet, Frank is a skilled forger who has passed as a doctor, lawyer and pilot. FBI agent Carl becomes obsessed with tracking down the con man, who only revels in the pursuit.Christopher Walken is in it. Nuff said.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice. Now i'm always smiling! I think I watched the trailer for this every day for months before it came out. AND IT DIDN'T DISSAPOINT. Heath Ledgend. What sort of name is Heath?
- DirectorTaylor HackfordStarsKeanu ReevesAl PacinoCharlize TheronAn exceptionally-adept Florida lawyer is offered a job at a high-end New York City law firm with a high-end boss--the biggest opportunity of his career to date.Al Pacino as the Devil. If Koepp hadn't done it then someone else soon would have. Pacino's dialogue in this incredibly awesome.
- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsBruce WillisAlan RickmanBonnie BedeliaA New York City police officer tries to save his estranged wife and several others taken hostage by terrorists during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles. The full set deserves to be in here. But the original stands for them all. A great action movie that everyone feels at home with. Also, "Live free or Die Hard?" I'll stick with Die Hard 4.0 thanks.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppMartin LandauSarah Jessica ParkerAmbitious but troubled movie director Edward D. Wood Jr. tries his best to fulfill his dreams despite his lack of talent.Fell asleep half way through but watched it again and I now love it. Depps squeeky clean portayal of Ed Wood is sickly, but morish.
- DirectorMichel GondryStarsJim CarreyKate WinsletTom WilkinsonWhen their relationship turns sour, a couple undergoes a medical procedure to have each other erased from their memories forever.Jim Carrey plays a role without using all 54 muscles in his face. A brilliant movie about the inevitable downfall of relationships - that's genuinly a main theme in the movie, but obviously it's far far more complex than that.
- DirectorJohn WooStarsJohn TravoltaNicolas CageJoan AllenTo foil a terrorist plot, FBI agent Sean Archer assumes the identity of the criminal Castor Troy who murdered his son through facial transplant surgery, but the crook wakes up prematurely and vows revenge.I just downright love this movie. Happy days it's Caster Troy!
- DirectorTerry GilliamStarsJohnny DeppBenicio Del ToroTobey MaguireAn oddball journalist and his psychopathic lawyer travel to Las Vegas for a series of psychedelic escapades.Johnny Depp's best role ever. I'd judge you if you didn't want to wash down some acid with a Singapore Sling after watching this movie.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsBrad PittEdward NortonMeat LoafAn insomniac office worker and a devil-may-care soap maker form an underground fight club that evolves into much more.NICE BIG COCK.
- DirectorJames FoleyStarsAl PacinoJack LemmonAlec BaldwinAn examination of the machinations behind the scenes at a real estate office.Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Kevin Spacey, Alec Baldwi.... SOLD, give me the *beep* movie, I don't care what it's about. And in actual fact, the plot is very bland, but the acting just makes the movie explode to life. I can watch it over and over.
- DirectorHarold RamisStarsBill MurrayAndie MacDowellChris ElliottA narcissistic, self-centered weatherman finds himself in a time loop on Groundhog Day.Bill Murray, being miserable, over and over and over and over. That script is gold.
- DirectorSofia CoppolaStarsBill MurrayScarlett JohanssonGiovanni RibisiA faded movie star and a neglected young woman form an unlikely bond after crossing paths in Tokyo.Bill Murray again, but not really a comedy. Two people completely alienated in Tokyo's culture, form a really nice bond that is something far beyond looks. It's a great movie that just peacefully flows over you. Suntory Time.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsGuy PearceCarrie-Anne MossJoe PantolianoA man with short-term memory loss attempts to track down his wife's murderer..shot wonderfully and story great a with movie great A
- DirectorSteven SoderberghStarsGeorge ClooneyBrad PittJulia RobertsDanny Ocean and his ten accomplices plan to rob three Las Vegas casinos simultaneously.Proof that stealing is *beep* cool.
- DirectorMark RomanekStarsRobin WilliamsConnie NielsenMichael VartanA mentally unstable photo developer targets an upper middle-class family after his obsession with them becomes more sick and disturbing than any of them could imagine.Robin Williams as a creepy photo developer with some interesting philosophies. You see a very chilling insight into his lonely life.
- DirectorGore VerbinskiStarsJohnny DeppGeoffrey RushOrlando BloomBlacksmith Will Turner teams up with eccentric pirate "Captain" Jack Sparrow to save his love, the governor's daughter, from Jack's former pirate allies, who are now undead. This is for all three films. Jack Sparrow is just bloody cool, his camp pirate act was bewildering at first, but we all embraced him like our own gay son. Davey Jones was one of the greatest things about the trilogy. Will and Elizabeth can burn in hell.
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsJack NicholsonShelley DuvallDanny LloydA family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future. For a movie that is actually very slow, i've never been so glued to the screen. It's chilling. Better get that snow plow working again.
- DirectorFrank MillerQuentin TarantinoRobert RodriguezStarsMickey RourkeClive OwenBruce WillisAn exploration of the dark and miserable Basin City and three of its residents, all of whom are caught up in violent corruption.Never read the comics but I was totally into the film noir, comic book style of this movie. Let's be honest, without it's visuals it wouldn't be much.
- DirectorBilly WilderStarsMarilyn MonroeTony CurtisJack LemmonAfter two male musicians witness a mob hit, they flee the state in an all-female band disguised as women, but further complications set in.It's a comfort movie. Jack Lemmon (as Daphne) miserably doing the tango with a man who is infactuated with him/her is classic.
- DirectorNancy MeyersStarsJack NicholsonDiane KeatonKeanu ReevesA swinger on the cusp of being a senior citizen with a taste for young women falls in love with an accomplished woman closer to his age.Jack's still got it in his old age. Yeah, i'm calling him Jack. Look at the movie cover that says "Jack & Diane."
Actually, that doesn't bother me too much, but "What Happens in Vegas." - "Cameron and Ashton," no, just no. Don't try and put them on first name terms with me as if they are my buddies, bunch of shoddy actors who sign up to anything. Not you Jack & Diane, you guys are great. - DirectorMartin BrestStarsAl PacinoChris O'DonnellJames RebhornA prep school student needing money agrees to "babysit" a blind man, but the job is not at all what he anticipated.Pacino had me convinced that he was blind. Now that's acting, ASHTON.
- DirectorGeorge HuangStarsKevin SpaceyFrank WhaleyMichelle ForbesA young, naive Hollywood studio assistant finally turns the tables on his incredibly abusive producer boss.Kevin Spacey as a boss with a foul temper. Couldn't ask for more. Maybe a bit of Walken impressions.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelAn ancient struggle between two Cybertronian races, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, comes to Earth, with a clue to the ultimate power held by a teenager. What? It's *beep* cool.
- DirectorCameron CroweStarsTom CruisePenélope CruzCameron DiazA self-indulgent and vain publishing magnate finds his privileged life upended after a vehicular accident with a resentful lover.Very interesting, twisted movie. Not watched it in a long time, but I used to be obsessed with this movie so felt it deserved a place. Count yourself lucky Tom Cruise, you nearly didn't make it. Citizen Dildo.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsJohn TravoltaUma ThurmanSamuel L. JacksonThe lives of two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangster and his wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption.I forgot about Pulp Fiction. What the hell, I'll call this my favourite. Number 31!
- DirectorDana LustigStarsJennifer Love HewittColin FergusonNatassia MaltheA 28-year-old ad sales exec stops at nothing to climb her way to the top of the San Francisco social ladder.A little 99p gem found in tesco.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsHarvey KeitelTim RothMichael MadsenWhen a simple jewelry heist goes horribly wrong, the surviving criminals begin to suspect that one of them is a police informant.May aswel make it 35. This deserves to be in it, Michael Madsen and the ear scene with "stuck in the middle with you" on the radio. Makes it for me.
- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsAl PacinoSean PennPenelope Ann MillerA Puerto Rican former convict, just released from prison, pledges to stay away from drugs and violence despite the pressure around him and lead on to a better life outside of N.Y.C.It's the Pacino gangster movie that didn't get the hype that Scarface got. Personally I think this is better.
- DirectorCurtis HansonStarsKevin SpaceyRussell CroweGuy PearceAs corruption grows in 1950s Los Angeles, three policemen - one strait-laced, one brutal, and one sleazy - investigate a series of murders with their own brand of justice. Not many people know of this movie but they bloody well should. Kevin Spacey - brilliant, Guy Pearce - awesome, Russell Crowe... not a total douche. Great cast, great story. Off the record, on the QT and very hush-hush.
