Male actors only (I will be creating a female list as well). Its SO hard to put these in ranked order, and Im still not 100% satisfied with the order, but here goes...

1. Jim Carrey

Actor | Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Jim Carrey, Canadian-born and a U.S. citizen since 2004, is an actor and producer famous for his rubbery body movements and flexible facial expressions. The two-time Golden Globe-winner rose to fame as a cast member of the Fox sketch comedy In Living Color (1990) but leading roles in Ace Ventura: ...

Many argue that its so hard for a comedian to go "straight" and while thats true, how often is an actor able to consistently balance both? He can be goofy, witty, charming, emotional... almost the whole gamut (except for maybe action star ;))

1. Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind 2. Man On The Moon 3. Cable Guy 4. The Truman Show 5. The Number 23

2. Ben Kingsley

Actor | Gandhi

Ben Kingsley was born Krishna Bhanji on December 31, 1943 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England. His father, Rahimtulla Harji Bhanji, was a Kenyan-born medical doctor, of Gujarati Indian descent, and his mother, Anna Lyna Mary (Goodman), was an English actress. Ben began to act in stage plays during ...

Oh, Ben Kingsley! Not only are you an amazing actor in every respect (though youve taken some very questionable roles in the last decade -- Bloodrayne comes to mind) you can be forgiven by the mass amount of amazingness you bring to the screen. Note: I know its a pretty shocking admission, but I have not seen Schindler's List

1. Gandhi 2. Sexy Beast 3. House Of Sand & Fog 4. Death & The Maiden 5. Suspect Zero

Honorable Mention: The Tale Of Sweeney Todd

3. Adrien Brody

Actor | The Pianist

Adrien Nicholas Brody was born in Woodhaven, Queens, New York, the only child of retired history professor Elliot Brody and Hungarian-born photographer Sylvia Plachy. He accompanied his mother on assignments for the Village Voice, and credits her with making him feel comfortable in front of the ...

So sue me for not placing his Oscar-winning role as #1...Im a rebel like that... Adrien Brody completely becomes his roles. He has the amazing ability to be the most sympathetic lovable character (The Jacket) to being evil incarnate (Oxygen) and makes it 100% believable.

1. The Jacket 2. The Pianist 3. Oxygen 4. The Village 5. Summer Of Sam

4. Gary Oldman

Actor | Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Gary Oldman is a talented British born movie actor who played Sid Vicious in Sid & Nancy, Drexl in True Romance, and George Smiley in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. 1. Sid & Nancy 2. Leon: The Professional 3. The Fifth Element 4. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead 5. True Romance

5. Sam Rockwell

Actor | Moon

Sam Rockwell was born on November 5, 1968, in San Mateo, California, the child of two actors, Pete Rockwell and Penny Hess. The family moved to New York when he was two years old, living first in the Bronx and later in Manhattan. When Sam was five years old, his parents split up, at which point he ...

Sam Rockwell can be pretty much anyone he wants to be. He used to only be typecast as the sarcastic, edgy free spirit-type character (Box of Moonlight, Lawn Dogs, etc) until he broke out of that mold with Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind. Still playing the asshole -- on the surface -- but with so many other facets of emotion. In fact the only films where he doesnt play a dick (however endearing or "misunderstood") are the SF films he's been involved in (as coincidental as it is): Moon, Galaxy Quest, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The latter I havent seen, but Im fairly certain Im correct in my assumption

1. Moon 2. Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind 3. Choke 4. The Green Mile 5. Snow Angels

6. Willem Dafoe

Actor | Spider-Man

Having made over one hundred films in his legendary career, Willem Dafoe is internationally respected for bringing versatility, boldness, and dare to some of the most iconic films of our time. His artistic curiosity in exploring the human condition leads him to projects all over the world, large ...

What can be said about Willem Dafoe other than he's awesome. His looks have been responsible for getting as many parts as Im sure he's missed out on, but hey, for me the quirkier the better!

1. Shadow of the Vampire 2. Boondock Saints 3. Last Temptation Of Christ 4. Antichrist 5. Animal Factory

7. Johnny Depp

Actor | Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Johnny Depp is perhaps one of the most versatile actors of his day and age in Hollywood.

He was born John Christopher Depp II in Owensboro, Kentucky, on June 9, 1963, to Betty Sue (Wells), who worked as a waitress, and John Christopher Depp, a civil engineer.

Depp was raised in Florida. He dropped ...

Sorry, but I was a fan long before the Pirate movies, hence no Pirate movies on my list. Complaint cards can be found at the bottom of this post :)

1. Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas 2. Ed Wood 3. Blow 4. Ninth Gate 5. From Hell

8. Kevin Spacey

Actor | The Usual Suspects

Kevin Spacey Fowler, better known by his stage name Kevin Spacey, is an American actor of screen and stage, film director, producer, screenwriter and singer. He began his career as a stage actor during the 1980s before obtaining supporting roles in film and television. He gained critical acclaim in...

Kevin really brings everything he is in to life. Its no coincidence that some of my favorite films of all times star him. As great as he is, and this just may be a coincidence, there are a number of his films that bore me to tears (L.A. Confidential, The Negotiator, The Men Who Stare At Goats, and The Life of David Gale). That isnt speaking for his acting talent...just that the films themselves are boring.

1. K-PAX 2. American Beauty 3. Se7en 4. The Usual Suspects 5. The Ref

9. Ethan Hawke

Actor | Training Day

Ethan Green Hawke was born on November 6, 1970 in Austin, Texas, to Leslie Carole (Green), a charity worker, and James Steven Hawke, an insurance actuary. I havent seen Before Sunset, Daybreakers, Tape, or Snow Falling on Cedars, but Im assuming at least 3 of the 4 are worthy of this list. For now, I have to go with what Ive seen:

1. Gattaca 2. Training Day 3. Great Expectations 4. Before The Devil Knows Youre Dead 5. Alive

10. Tadanobu Asano

Actor | Mongol

Asano Tadanobu is a Japanese film actor. His father, an actors' agent, suggested he take on what became his first role, in the TV show "Kimpachi Sensei," at the age of 16. His film debut was in the 1990 Swimming Upstream (Bataashi kingyo (1990)), though his first major critical success was in ...

I knew I loved Tadanobu Asano when I realized that I had already seen three of his films loving the characters that he played yet not knowing it was the same guy in each of the roles. It seems that every other film I want to see him in (Shark Skin Man & Peach Hip Girl, Electric Dragon 80000V, and Invisible Waves to name a few) are all unavailable. Im fairly certain that when I can see more than 3 of his films, then he will move up.

1. Ichi The Killer (Koroshiya 1) 2. Last Life In The Universe (Ruang rak noi nid mahasan) 3. Vital

11. William Hurt

I think he finally left that TV show so the movie world can have him back now...where he belongs running the gamut from serial killer to time traveling hopeless romantic!

1. The Cell 2. Happy Accidents 3. Full Metal Jacket 4. Strange Days 5. Men In Black

13. Hugh Jackman

Actor | Les Misérables

Hugh Michael Jackman is an Australian actor, singer, multi-instrumentalist, dancer and producer. Jackman has won international recognition for his roles in major films, notably as superhero, period, and romance characters. He is best known for his long-running role as Wolverine in the X-Men film ...

I have to admit, I was a little shocked to find that he really doesnt have too many credits to his name. If you take away anything to do with Wolverine, there is virtually nothing. Shame, really...such talent.

1. The Fountain 2. Swordfish 3. The Prestige 4. X-Men 5. X2

14. Robert Carlyle

Actor | The Full Monty

Robert Carlyle was born in Maryhill, Glasgow, Scotland, to Elizabeth, a bus company employee, and Joseph Carlyle, a painter and decorator. He was raised by his father after his mother left him when he was four. At the age of 21, after reading Arthur Miller's "The Crucible," he enrolled in acting ...
