- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.Completely mind-blowing. As good as everyone said.
- DirectorPierre CoffinChris RenaudStarsSteve CarellJason SegelRussell BrandGru, a criminal mastermind, adopts three orphans as pawns to carry out the biggest heist in history. His life takes an unexpected turn when the little girls see the evildoer as their potential father.Awesome, laugh-out-loud family movie!
- DirectorBen AffleckStarsBen AffleckRebecca HallJon HammA proficient group of thieves rob a bank and hold an assistant manager hostage. Things begin to get complicated when one of the crew members falls in love with her.Good movie, but way too much language. Would have been good without it.
- DirectorTibor TakácsStarsKristy SwansonJudd NelsonDavid SelbyAn atomic research experiment goes awry in St. Louis, Missouri unleashing not only a big black hole, but also a creature from beyond that feeds on electricity through the streets of this Midwest city.Whatever happened to Judd Nelson. He used to be such a good actor. What's he doing in this garbage? I can't believe SyFy cancelled Caprica to make room for junk like this.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppFreddie HighmoreDavid KellyCharlie, a young boy from an impoverished family, and four other kids win a tour of an amazing chocolate factory run by an imaginative chocolatier, Willy Wonka, and his staff of Oompa-Loompas.Much better than Willie Wonka. Few things better than a Depp/Burton collaboration.
- DirectorOliver StoneStarsShia LaBeoufMichael DouglasCarey MulliganNow out of prison but still disgraced by his peers, Gordon Gekko works his future son-in-law, an idealistic stock broker, when he sees an opportunity to take down a Wall Street enemy and rebuild his empire.Pretty good follow-up to the original. It won't ever have the cult status of Wall Street, though.
- DirectorZack SnyderStarsJim SturgessHugo WeavingDavid WenhamSoren, a young owl, is kidnapped by the evil owls of St Aegolious and want to turn him into a soldier. He escapes with some of his friends and warns the mythical guardians about the evil plan.Beautifully rendered, well-told story, wonderful acting.
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsTom CruiseCameron DiazPeter SarsgaardA young woman gets mixed up with a disgraced spy who is trying to clear his name.Funny and fun, this is an action movie everyone can enjoy! Don't expect too much of it, and it won't let you down.
- DirectorShawn LevyStarsSteve CarellTina FeyMark WahlbergIn New York City, a case of mistaken identity turns a bored married couple's attempt at a glamorous and romantic evening into something more thrilling and dangerous.A fun, entertaining movie, that pokes more than a little fun at marriage and action movie cliches.
- DirectorMichel GondryStarsSeth RogenJay ChouChristoph WaltzFollowing the death of his father, Britt Reid, heir to his father's large company, teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team.Pretty good comic-book movie, except for the horrible casting of Seth Rogan. Everyone else was great.
- DirectorJoe CarnahanStarsLiam NeesonBradley CooperSharlto CopleyA group of Iraq War veterans look to clear their name with the U.S. Military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed. Why did I wait so long to see this? The plot was a little convoluted, but the action was excellent, the lines funny, and the post-credits scenes were a perfect ending.
- DirectorRussell MulcahyStarsMichael CoponKaren DavidSimon QuartermanAfter witnessing his father's murder by the hand of the ruthless General Sargon, Mathayus travels to the Underworld to retrieve the enchanted Sword of Damocles from the dark deity, Astarte. Can he thwart the usurper's megalomaniac vision?Well, The Mummy Returns was no The Mummy; The Scorpion King was no The Mummy Returns; this is surely no The Scorpion King.
I could barely sit through this junk. Randy Couture is so bad it's painful. The first one gave us the "People's Eyebrow;" this should get the "People's Elbow" right in the "People's Trash Can." - DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.Slow to start, but pretty good. Not sure it was worth all the hype, but entertaining. Seemed to end really quickly...
- DirectorLouis LeterrierStarsEdward NortonLiv TylerTim RothBruce Banner, a scientist on the run from the U.S. Government, must find a cure for the monster he turns into whenever he loses his temper. So much better than Ang Lee's disaster. And the cameo of Tony Stark at the end was perfect!
- DirectorMike NewellStarsDaniel RadcliffeEmma WatsonRupert GrintHarry Potter finds himself competing in a hazardous tournament between rival schools of magic, but he is distracted by recurring nightmares.Don't see what all the hubub is about...
- DirectorTom TykwerStarsClive OwenNaomi WattsArmin Mueller-StahlAn Interpol agent attempts to expose a high-profile financial institution's role in an international arms dealing ring.If Clive Owen was any more wooden and lacking of humanity in this film, he'd be Naomi Watts in this film.
- DirectorXavier GensStarsTimothy OlyphantDougray ScottOlga KurylenkoA gun-for-hire known only as Agent 47 hired by a group known only as 'The Organization' is ensnared in a political conspiracy, which finds him pursued by both Interpol and the Russian military as he treks across Russia and Eastern Europe.Looks like Transporter 3 totally ripped of the plot of this dog... and did a much better job with it. Someone should stuff Timothy Oliphant in the trunk.
- DirectorPaul ZillerStarsMark DacascosJoanne KellyKevin JubinvilleWhen the sun's increasing expulsions of plasma threaten to ignite methane in our atmosphere, international tensions rise while scientists race for a solution to avoid natural disaster.Pretty funny in an MST3K kind of way. I kept waiting for Marc Decascos to yell "Allez cusine!!"
- DirectorDanny BoyleLoveleen TandanStarsDev PatelFreida PintoSaurabh ShuklaA teenager from the slums of Mumbai becomes a contestant on the show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati?' When interrogated under suspicion of cheating, he revisits his past, revealing how he had all the answers. Why did I wait so long to see this film?!? Brilliant in the way Boyle and Tandan humanized the slum in Juhu, bringing it to vibrant life.
- DirectorKenneth BranaghStarsChris HemsworthAnthony HopkinsNatalie PortmanThe powerful but arrogant god Thor is cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.
- DirectorRoland EmmerichStarsMel GibsonHeath LedgerJoely RichardsonPeaceful farmer Benjamin Martin is driven to lead the Colonial Militia during the American Revolution when a sadistic British officer murders his son.
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsJames McAvoyMichael FassbenderJennifer LawrenceIn the 1960s, superpowered humans Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr work together to find others like them, but Erik's vengeful pursuit of an ambitious mutant who ruined his life causes a schism to divide them.Very, very cool...
- DirectorJonathan LiebesmanStarsAaron EckhartMichelle RodriguezBridget MoynahanA squad of U.S. Marines becomes the last line of defense against a global invasion. What a dog. No seriously. Someone should take it out.
- DirectorMarc ForsterStarsDaniel CraigOlga KurylenkoMathieu AmalricJames Bond descends into mystery as he tries to stop a mysterious organisation from eliminating a country's most valuable resource. Not nearly as good as Casino Royale, but pretty good anyway.
- DirectorGeorge NolfiStarsMatt DamonEmily BluntLisa ThoresonThe affair between a politician and a contemporary dancer is affected by mysterious forces keeping the lovers apart.Deep, thoughtful and even spiritual film disguised as a high-concept action movie.
- DirectorEthan CoenJoel CoenStarsJeff BridgesMatt DamonHailee SteinfeldA stubborn teenager enlists the help of a tough U.S. Marshal to track down her father's murderer. One cannot reasonably compare this to the John Wayne classic. They are of a different era and culture. That said, this is a better movie.
- DirectorTony ScottStarsDenzel WashingtonChris PineRosario DawsonWith an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train barreling toward a city, a veteran engineer and a young conductor race against the clock to prevent a catastrophe.Could be the best film I've seen so far this year, if it wasn't for Inception. Edge-of-your seat kind of stuff, close enough to reality to make it feel real. The Tony Scott-Denzel Washington juggernaught continues on.
- DirectorJoe JohnstonStarsChris EvansHugo WeavingSamuel L. JacksonSteve Rogers, a rejected military soldier, transforms into Captain America after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum". But being Captain America comes at a price as he attempts to take down a warmonger and a terrorist organization.Maybe not the best of the pre-Avenger flicks, but pretty close.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMia WasikowskaJohnny DeppHelena Bonham CarterNineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror.Typical Tim Burton... one of less watchable ones.
- DirectorD.J. CarusoStarsAlex PettyferTimothy OlyphantDianna AgronAliens and their Guardians are hiding on Earth from intergalactic bounty hunters. They can only be killed in numerical order, and Number Four is next on the list. This is his story.High-concept action thriller. Pretty cool, actually.
- DirectorStephen GaghanStarsGeorge ClooneyMatt DamonAmanda PeetA politically charged epic about the state of the oil industry in the hands of those personally involved in and affected by it.Clooney was brilliant in this. So was Damon. This is a film you need to concentrate on, but it is really deep.
- DirectorGrant HeslovStarsEwan McGregorGeorge ClooneyKevin SpaceyA reporter in Iraq might just have the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady, a guy who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army's New Earth Army, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions.Meh...
- DirectorSpike JonzeStarsJohn CusackCameron DiazCatherine KeenerA puppeteer discovers a portal that leads literally into the head of movie star John Malkovich.Another one I wonder how I missed. Great, quirky film.
- DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufRosie Huntington-WhiteleyTyrese GibsonThe Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and to learn its secrets. How could a movie this expensive be this bad? How could Leonard Nimoy attach his name to this?
- DirectorJohn SingletonStarsMark WahlbergTyrese GibsonAndré 3000When their adoptive mother is gunned down in a store robbery, four brothers decide to investigate the murder and find the killers themselves, but not all is what it seems.Pretty entertaining, gritty and exciting at the end
