1. The Tree of Life (2011)

The story of a family in Waco, Texas in 1956. The eldest son witnesses the loss of innocence and struggles with his parents' conflicting teachings.
Votes: 147,585 | Gross: $13.30M
The trailer for this was quite possibly the best trailer I have ever seen.
2. Super 8 (2011)
PG-13 | 112 min | Mystery, Sci-Fi, Thriller
During the summer of 1979, a group of friends witness a train crash and investigate subsequent unexplained events in their small town.
Votes: 305,768 | Gross: $127.00M
The first trailer was strange and unnerving. The second was both thrilling and haunting. I have high hopes for this being a throwback to the great alien invasion films of the 80s.
3. The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
PG | 107 min | Animation, Action, Adventure
Intrepid reporter Tintin and Captain Haddock set off on a treasure hunt for a sunken ship commanded by Haddock's ancestor.
Votes: 189,794 | Gross: $77.59M
I love the Tintin books and have read almost all of them. On top of that it has Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as Siamese twins and is directed by Spielberg produced by Jackson. What more could you ask for?
4. Sucker Punch (2011)
PG-13 | 110 min | Action, Fantasy
A young girl is institutionalized by her abusive stepfather, retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, envisioning a plan to help her escape.
Votes: 209,296 | Gross: $36.39M
This could very easily end up a mess, but I am hoping it ends up brilliant.
5. Hanna (2011)
PG-13 | 111 min | Action, Drama, Thriller
A sixteen-year-old girl who was raised by her father to be the perfect assassin is dispatched on a mission across Europe, tracked by a ruthless intelligence agent and her operatives.
Votes: 167,817 | Gross: $40.26M
Looks like it could have a lot in common with one of my all time favorites, Leon The Professional.
6. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
R | 158 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery
Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for forty years by Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker.
Votes: 360,418 | Gross: $102.52M
I usually hate remakes, but I love David Fincher's direction enough to make an exception.
7. Source Code (2011)
PG-13 | 93 min | Mystery, Romance, Sci-Fi
A soldier wakes up in someone else's body and discovers he's part of an experimental government program to find the bomber of a commuter train. A mission he has only 8 minutes to complete.
Votes: 419,787 | Gross: $54.71M
The idea is fascinating, but the trailer is a bit disappointing, so we shall see.
8. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
PG-13 | 124 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi
Steve Rogers, a rejected military soldier transforms into Captain America after taking a dose of a "Super-Soldier serum". But being Captain America comes at a price as he attempts to take down a war monger and a terrorist organization.
Votes: 571,938 | Gross: $176.65M
The new trailer was pretty good and the WWII setting could be used for a different take on the super hero.
9. Paul (2011)
R | 104 min | Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi
Two English comic book geeks traveling across the U.S. encounter an alien outside Area 51.
Votes: 207,024 | Gross: $37.41M
I love Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, so this looks like it will be a great time.
10. Thor (2011)
PG-13 | 115 min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy
The powerful, but arrogant god Thor, is cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.
Votes: 596,685 | Gross: $181.03M
Looks like it could be decent. The idea of a director known for Shakespeare doing a super hero film is the best part.
11. Cowboys & Aliens (2011)
PG-13 | 119 min | Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller
A spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. A posse of cowboys and natives are all that stand in their way.
Votes: 184,620 | Gross: $100.24M
If this is as much fun as it looks, it will be quite good, or at least a good use of a summer afternoon.
12. Hugo (2011)
PG | 126 min | Adventure, Drama, Family
In Paris in 1931, an orphan named Hugo Cabret who lives in the walls of a train station is wrapped up in a mystery involving his late father and an automaton.
Votes: 266,748 | Gross: $73.86M
Martin Scorcese doing a kids film... Who thought this would be a good idea? Well anyway, I do, so it doesn't matter if it is likely to scar kids for life.
13. Water for Elephants (2011)
PG-13 | 120 min | Drama, Romance
Set in the 1930s, a former veterinary student takes a job in a traveling circus and falls in love with the ringmaster's wife.
Votes: 100,867 | Gross: $58.71M
Christopher Waltz. Need I say more?
