My top film for 2009 is this critically acclaimed violent film. From start to finish, its tone just resonates with danger and you could really feel each scene as if you were Malik. I don't know if the whole experience just reminded me of what I felt when I first saw "The Godfather" but this movie just zoomed to the top of my 2009 list. Masterful storytelling!

The 2010 Oscar winner for best picture. A lot of people disagree with the movie taking the plum but I think they got it right. This movie was downright nerve racking, suspenseful and truly one of its kind.

Director: Michael Haneke | Stars: Christian Friedel, Ernst Jacobi, Leonie Benesch, Ulrich Tukur

Votes: 59,332 | Gross: $2.22M

A haunting classic! If you were to break it down piece by piece, it seems ordinary but the whole movie just works. And I must agree on everyone, the cinematography is just so brilliant, you can picture scenes and shots from your head even after a year of watching it.

Just when I thought Quentin won't be able to surprise me anymore, this movie came along! I wish he followed Pulp Fiction with this movie!

Who knew a story about an elderly can be a touching family animated movie. This movie made me well up, laugh and realize how important it is to move on despite loss and tragedy and the importance of connecting with other people.

A really classy science fiction! Whoever thought a film about aliens can also be a commentary on politics and humanity?

Director: Lone Scherfig | Stars: Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard, Alfred Molina, Olivia Williams

Votes: 119,009 | Gross: $12.57M

A lot of people are dismissing this movie as cliche and boring just because of how the movie ended. But I think it's a refreshing take on an otherwise tired plot. What elevated this movie are the performances of the actors ---- Mulligan, Molina, Sarsgard!

It was the perfect time for a movie like this. I was a bit skeptical going into the movie. Was I wildly impressed after watching the movie? Nope but it certainly entertained me. I would say the highest points of the movie goes to the performance of George Clooney and Anna Kendrick.

A controversial nominee and a lot of critics there were better movies which deserves to make the list. But argue all you want but this movie was able to connect to a lot of people... common people like me. Yes there were times it went sentimental but it's nothing short of inspiring.
