15 Most Anticipated Films of 2011

Final cast still to be confirmed including a possible appearance by Emma Watson but Logan Lerman's casting in the lead role of Charlie has gained fan support. Book tackles sensitive themes of teen suicide, alienation, drug use, abuse, homosexuality but ultimately ends on an uplifting note. Author Chbosky has written the screenplay and will direct. The last movie in the HP series. Some fans have expressed disappointment with the somewhat dragging and drawn-out penultimate movie in the series, HPDH 1. However, the pace should pick up significantly with the last installment. The final showdown between hero and arch nemesis and the return of beloved characters should make for an epic close to the series. It will also hopefully give audiences a chance to see Daniel Radcliffe show some acting muscle after being in some critics and fans' opinion "out-acted" by the surprisingly good Emma Watson in DH1. It's not just a movie but an event.

Finally, a blockbuster screen adaptation of the ultimate all-American Hero. Spanning the WW2 and presumably the modern eras, this will be a critical chance to re-introduce audiences to one of the famed Marvel heroes. Chris Evans' casting received a lot of flak but he may surprise with a heroic performance. Avengers story tie-ins could prove to be a major attraction to comic book film geeks. Watch out for one of the UK's fast-rising stars, Haylee Atwell in the role of Cap's Romantic interest.

Chris Hemsworth looks like Thor. Enough said. Now it's only a matter of time before audiences can judge whether or not he embodies the hero's qualities on screen. Stellar cast including Sir Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman plus Kenneth Branagh directing. For Asgard!

The latest official trailer has fans salivating and the audience anticipation is one of the highest for this take on an iconic DC superhero. With so many CBMs competing in the markertplace for 2011-2012, some will inevitably perform better than others. My bet though is Green Lantern may top them all. Ryan Reynolds, the sexiest man on the planet, well GL may only reinforce that.

Was originally slated for a 2010 release but pushed back to 2011. The new film from Oscar winner and hollywood legend Robert Redford is set in the Lincoln, Civil War era and explores the conspiracy in the death of a president. Good, dependable cast with a reportedly award-worthy turn from Robin Wright.

Yes, I know, All for one and one for all for the umpteenth time but let's admit it, we all love a classic action-adventure story and it doesn't get any better than The Three Musketeers. While the rep of Dir Paul WS Anderson leaves much to be desired, he does handle action sequences well and made creditable use of 3D technology in the last Resident Evil Film. Plus the stellar cast of Logan Lerman, Matthew McFadyen, Ray Stevenson, Mikkelsen, Orlando Bloom, Corden, Luke Evans, and the great Christophe Waltz (he could be the best Richelieu) is enough to get me to the cinema. Only misgiving: would have wanted an actress with more depth than Milla Jovovich for the iconic role of Milady but then the guys in the cast shld make up for this. Early on-set pics show lavish costumes and stunning locations. Here's hoping the Musketeers weave their cinematic spell for another generation

Meryl Streep as Maggie Thatcher - enough said.

The hit BBC series Sherlock has contributed to Sherlock's renewed popularity and while the recent film version has a different take on the famed sleuth, the sequel with Downey and Judd Law reprising their roles should attract more audiences. The introduction of a new supporting cast should make for an entertaining second installment in this new series of films

The trailer of this new animated offering always generates a lot of laughs in the theatres. Definitely something to look forward to in 2011

Lightning McQueen as a superspy? Pixar and Disney - count me in though I would have wanted The Incredibles sequel first

Another ensemble piece by Oscar-Winner Steven Soderbergh with Matt Damon and Gwyneth Paltrow headlining the cast. Still a puzzle to many.

Martin Scorsese tries out 3D technology with this fantastical tale set in Paris. With a stellar cast led by Sir Ben Kingsley, Richard Griffiths, Sacha Baron Cohen and two rising young actors, Asa Butterfield of the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Chloe Moretz. About the powers of imagination, here's hoping the film captures the same magic of the book

Will Spielberg get his directing mojo back? This film's success should answer that. Plays to Spielberg's strengths: the relationship between a young boy and his beloved horse, WWI drama, epic battle sequences. It will take a lot of creativity to make the story engaging as it's told from the point of view of an animal with much more grit than Black Beauty. Will compete with Hugo Cabret for family audiences

Was in a quandary over including this over X-Men: First Class but we've seen X-Men before but not Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and James Bond (Daniel Craig) together onscreen. Based on a classic CBM material and directed by IronMan's Jon Favreau, this should make for an entertaining film.
