When I was visiting your site, my antivirus detected a virus/trojan/worm. What is going on?

Some websites contain code that try to download and execute programs on your computer. These programs may be designed to collect information about your browsing habits and report them to a third party for advertising purposes; or may try to hijack control of you browser to direct you to certain sites.

This type of software is commonly known as 'spyware' or 'malware' and we do not support it or approve/condone its use. We do not feature ads for sites that spread these programs and try not to link to sites that exploit these malicious techniques. Some of the ads featured on our site, however, are served from third parties and unfortunately, in very rare cases, some of the advertised sites may be deliberately or unwittingly infected by these programs.

If your antivirus software warned you about any kind of suspicious activity while you were browsing our site, first of all please make sure that the page you are visiting is hosted on IMDb.com (i.e. if you clicked on an external link, for example a link to a trailer or a review hosted on a different website, the offending program is being served from that site, not us and you should report the problem to that site's webmasters).

If you are positive that the warning is being generated by an ad on our site, please let us know asap and make sure you include the full URL of the site linked by the banner/ad. We'll take immediate steps to ban the ad and the site from our pages.
