We are looking for software developers who want to build the next generation of the Box Office Mojo (www.boxofficemojo.com) web application and seamlessly integrate it with IMDb. While working with other Amazon.com and IMDb.com developers, you will use state of the art technologies to build scalable, reliable systems that are used by millions of customers a day.

If you enjoyed your college data structures class, like working with other smart people, think any decent programming language should have closures, can't understand why all developers don't automate their unit tests and love solving hard problems with software, we think you will want to work with us.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years enterprise software industry experience
  • Solid Linux and/or Unix experience
  • Understands how to build and deploy production quality object-oriented applications with relational databases
  • Scripting languages (Perl, Ruby or Python) are second nature and has good experience with C/C++ or Java.
  • Has built production web applications using Apache
  • Interested in and/or experienced in Scrum or Extreme Programming

IMDb.com, an Amazon.com company, is seeking a senior engineering developer to work with our Withoutabox Team in its Burbank, CA offices.

With over 57 million unique visitors a month, IMDb is the world's largest movie database, featuring over 2 million actors and filmmakers as well as over 1 million movies from 1890 through 2009. Our Withoutabox group is focused on developing products and services for filmmakers and festivals as well as helping connect filmmakers with movie lovers around the world.

As a Software developer, you will be responsible for the growth and architecture of our industry-leading film festival submission and festival management software as well as the development of new products and services. You will also mentor and help hire/grow a team of 8-12 software developers, sys administrators, and database administrators. Experience and interest in the film industry is desirable but not required.

Required skills:

  • Conduct meaningful software, data model & architecture reviews and implement best-practice software development & project life-cycle procedures.
  • Work with internal business management in making architectural decisions and formulating the technical vision for the company.
  • General understanding of SOA and services infrastructure technologies and products.
  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • Define and create architectural best practices for implementing and deploying internet applications and infrastructure using PHP & Perl, MySQL & Oracle. Our development is primarily using these tools, but we have some .NET & Java as well.
