First, click the "My Profile" link in the block of links at the upper right of a boards page.
Once there, the "Display Options" section allows you to define defaults for how messages are displayed to you, and how your posts on various message boards appear to others.
The Default Sort pull-down menu offers three ways to sort message threads. By selecting "Newest threads first", newly created threads will appear at the top of the page. The "Oldest threads first" option elevates the oldest posted threads to the top of the page. Choosing "Active threads first" brings the threads with the most recent posting activity to the top.
The Text Display section allows you to control the amount of text you see, by adjusting the number of columns and rows shown on the screen.
The Threads per page section lets you choose the number of threads you would like visible on any message board page.
The Display threads as section helps you customize your view of the boards, letting you choose how many threads to display on a page, and in what format threads should appear (threaded, flat, inline or nested).
By selecting the "Show help text" checkbox in the Help section, you ensure that help text will be visible to you throughout the message board system. If you feel that you fully understand the message boards functionality, leave this box unchecked and all help text on the message board system will be suppressed.
By making a selection from the drop-down menu in the Theme section, you can customize the general appearance of the boards. There are 12 different themes, offering everything from varied borders to vibrant background colors for messages and headers. To see how the various themes will look on the screen, click on the "Samples" button in the Theme section.
A list of the users included in your Ignore List can be viewed at the bottom of the page, with an option to remove users from that list at any time.
A history of your most Recent Posts will be listed at the bottom of the page as well.
Once you are satisfied with your preferences in each of the sections listed above, click on the "Save Profile" button at the bottom, and your changes will be saved and applied. If you do not want to save the changes you made, click the "Undo" button, and all sections will revert to their default settings.
