Sundance 2006 Film FestivalAh, Sundance, the premier independent film festival that takes over the lovely town of Park City, Utah for a week-and-a-half each year. We have a fabulous mini-guide to help you find all the films in (and out) of competition, a blog of the movies that are generating buzz and the parties that are buzzing and photos from the event (this year and last) from our very good friends at WireImage; they're once again the official photographers of the event.

2006 (and 2005) Sundance Photos
Keira Knightley didn't have much luck with the overlooked, minor gem The Jacket, which debuted last year at Sundance and was subsequently barely released, but it did give the good folks at WireImage another chance to snap portraits of her. As the official photographer of the Sundance Film Festival, WireImage has access to the names and faces that make Sundance the launching pad for films big, small, and not seen at all. See the stars of last year (The Jacket portraits/premiere, The Squid and the Whale photos, The Upside of Anger photos), and of this coming year in our Road to Sundance Photo Galleries.

For the first time in the history of the Sundance festival the Grand Jury Prizes and Audience Awards for Documentary and Dramatic Competitions were presented to the same two films.

MINI-GUIDE

Find the Films Fast
The mini-guide features the complete line-up (sorry shorts) of feature films screening in the Premieres, American Spectrum, Frontier, Park City at Midnight, Special Screenings, Sundance Collection, Feature Film and World Cinema Competitions categories of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, taking place January 19-29, 2006, in Park City, Utah. The Festival will screen a total of 120 feature films (over 3,148 were submitted, almost double that of last year), including 84 world premieres (down just three from last year), 18 North American premieres (up nine), and 15 U.S. premieres (down four). We once again feature a picture of Natalie Portman because we thought it was much nicer than a repeat of the logo.
