  • The National Board of Review names top ten films of the year since 1920, naming one best film from that ten did not happen prior to 1932. The NBR membership includes film professionals, teachers, students and historians.
  • From 1979 onwards and after 60 years the awards, although still announced in late December every year, additionally became their own ceremony.
