- After his wife leaves him for a starving artist, high-flying insurance broker Richard Scribe has an epiphany and hits the streets of the financial district to reinvent himself as a slam poet.
- En route to perform in the heart of the financial district, Rich recalls his first poetry reading when he stumbled into a poetry slam while looking to drown his sorrows after discovering his wife's affair.
- Rich hits the streets of the financial district looking for an audience, but is met with indifference, impatience and anger. When he finally finds a crowd willing to listen, he gets caught up in the performance and shows up late for an important boardroom meeting. Jaws drop when he opens the meeting with a poem.
- Rich's business partner Icarus interrupts his poem and throws the staff out of the boardroom to confront Rich about his erratic behavior of late. When Icarus presses Rich about any problems at home, Rich claims Gloria and he have never been better, only to be interrupted by a court clerk serving him divorce papers.
- As Rich shops for a new couch he is haunted by the memory of coming home to find a shirtless and sweaty Tim catching his breath on his couch after making love to Gloria who informs Rich that she's leaving him for Tim.
- Gloria and Tim recall how they met when Gloria tripped over Tim's easel on the sidewalk where he was painting a defiant anti-capitalist piece. Their passionate love affair is intercut with the unraveling of Gloria and Rich's stale marriage.
- As Rich mulls over his divorce papers in his office, Oliver knocks on the door and, inspired by Rich's boardroom poetry reading, confesses his secret past in a boy band. Just as Oliver offers to help him spread Rich's poetry to the masses, Icarus interrupts them to say that Frankly has just made him and Rich a big pay on a hot new start-up company and wants to throw a party to celebrate.
- The Hot Tub Party continues. Rich learns the true power of poetry.
- Oliver and Rich travel to Frankly's party slightly uneasy about what is in store for them. Meanwhile Frankly and Icarus have a secret in store for Rich in an attempt to turn him back to the ruthless broker that they once knew.
