- Lisa's parents are separated. Like the title says, her father (supposedly) lives in Rio de Janeiro. She often gets letters from him and dreams of visiting him in South America one fine day. However, this is all a major cover-up: the father is actually in a Dutch jail for a very long time. On top of that, her loving grandfather recently passed away, and there's no chemistry whatsoever with her mom's new boyfriend. Lisa can't take it anymore and runs away from home... to Brazil.
- A blind man is crossing the world to reach his destination, the Dutch village of Holysloot.
- Dedicated Dutch graphic designer Piet Schreuders visits Los Angeles to investigate all kinds of typeface as used in title-credits for movies and TV-series, letters on billboards, shop-windows or street-signs, the banner-headlines of The Los Angeles Times, and climbs finally to the giant letters of the HOLLYWOOD-sign. In the meantime he discovers, to his great satisfaction, the location and stairs where Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy shot their movie 'The Musicbox', by combining street-signs, partially shown on still-pictures of this movie: "...MONTE" and "...ENDOME", which turn out to be found on the streetcorner of Del Monte and Vendome in Culver City. This documentary is bluntly intercut with commercials, a phenomenon not yet known in the Netherlands in 1979.
- Eva has been missing for 3 days. Jacky & Thomas find the last thing Eva was working on: trying to decipher a secret code.
- Thomas witnesses the Colonel getting shot, but doesn't get a good look at the murderer, apart from a pair of black gloves. Eva finds these gloves in her father's coat.
- Thomas finally finds Eva in the loft, unconscious and apparently drugged.
- Instead of just hiding in Jacky and Thomas' secret room, Eva has actually disappeared. Could it have something to do with the mysterious letter she found in the Colonel's garden?
- Young Eva is increasingly upset about her constantly arguing parents. Together with her friends Jacky & Thomas she concocts a plan to disappear for a night.
- After Jacky & Thomas swear not to tell anybody else, Eva explains what happened to her during three days she was missing: she was being held hostage and interrogated by the Colonel.
- The class is at camp and Jacky insists on visiting the mysterious (and dangerous) Mr. van Pasen.
