- Crooked Dave Ormsby gets together with a corrupt judge and sheriff and they conspire to kill Bruce Martin, the heir to a large estate, and take his ranch. They capture Bruce and beat him severely, tie him to a horse and drive it deep into the woods. Orrmsby, who is in love with Bruce's girlfriend, then kidnaps her and takes her to an isolated cabin. Bruce manages to get himself free and sets out to find the men who tried to kill him and kidnapped his woman.
- Charley Raymond, college athlete, is disowned by his father, has his clothes stolen by a hobo, assumes latter's garments and the nickname of "Chuck" and is thrown off a freight train. He meets and loves Mary Bowser, ranch-man's daughter and wins a race against a fast horse. Mary is kidnapped by a jealous suitor. Charley pursues on foot and rescues her. Later, he returns home, breaks the world sprinting record in the Olympic Games and wins Mary.
- Josephine Sturgess returns from San Francisco to her father's ranch and is followed there by Frisco Mays, a crook with whom she has become innocently involved. Bud Clews discovers Mays in possession of a stolen necklace and takes it from him, allowing him to escape in order to protect Josephine's good name and reputation. The sheriff comes to the ranch looking for Mays, finds Bud with the necklace, and arrests him. Bud escapes from the sheriff's custody and trails Mays, forcing him to write a confession clearing both himself and Josephine. The sheriff accepts the confession, and Bud marries Josephine.
- Perez Blake, apparently a decent rancher, is, in fact, the head of a gang of cattle rustlers. Frank Paget, a rancher much preyed upon by Blake's men, goes to the Cattlemen's Protective Association and asks for help. Frank Blair, the head of the association, appears at the ranch, disguised as Don X, a Mexican cattle buyer. Blair soon breaks up the gang and brings Blake to justice, winning for himself the love of Gladys Paget, the rancher's beautiful daughter.
