- Country girl Jolanda has lost her boyfriend, Nathaniel Huggins, to a "flapper" from the city. Jolanda blackmails Nathaniel's father into giving his permission for he and Jolanda to be married--but circumstances arise that may make Jolanda rethink her position.
- The sub-sea gun which is being perfected by Lieutenant Vane is coveted by Koral, a secret agent of a foreign government, who plots to secure it. Charlotte hears of the conspiracy and, at a skating-rink party, warns Vane, but he takes the matter lightly. From a secret wireless plant Koral is to send a message to Fredericks aboard his yacht. Charlotte cuts the antennae of the wireless apparatus on the boat, thereby preventing the receipt of the message. Fredericks, believing that something has gone wrong with Koral for his failure to communicate, sails, but at sea discovers that his wireless machine has been damaged. Meanwhile Vane finds that his gun has been stolen, and later he receives a note from Charlotte to be at the pier. The authorities are informed, and when Fredericks returns he runs into the arms of the law. Koral and his confederates are also taken prisoners.
- After screams from a beautiful house draw neighbors and the police, Victor Bailey is shot and wounded while leaving the premises. Investigation reveals that an unknown assailant attacked Cynthia Holmes, a blind musician, and her secretary, killing the latter. Despite Cynthia's objections, Bailey, who claims to have been investigating the scream, is arrested, convicted, and sentenced to death. To keep Cynthia's mind occupied, her friends persuade her to give a benefit recital at the house; there, she shakes hands with music critic Harry Warren, whom she instantly accuses of the murder, having recognized his touch. Warren escapes but is pursued by Detective Hayden, who tricks him into a confession. Bailey is freed and marries Cynthia, and the birth of their first child restores her sight.
