A confrontation with Hojby is inevitable as is her son's growing into adulthood and forming his own ideas about religion.

And Juliana reveals that it was Howling's son who killed Fender and tried to kill her but Howling uses his influence to stop that but Gower who has grudge against Howling tries to prove her right.
