"Once Upon a Time: Broken (#2.1)" (2012)
Leroy: The curse? It's broken?
David Nolan: It would appear so.
Ruby: So, what do we do now?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Now? Now I find my daughter.
Emma Swan: [appearing behind them] So it's true.
[Mary Margaret and David turn to face Emma; they share a long silent look, then Mary Margaret embraces Emma, crying]
Mary Margaret Blanchard: You found us!

Henry Mills: Grandpa?
[Mary Margaret laughs]
David Nolan: Yeah, kid. I suppose so.
Henry Mills: She did it. She saved you.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: She saved all of us.

Mary Margaret Blanchard: Is there anything that you want to ask us? You must have questions.
Emma Swan: The only questions I have are for Mr. Gold. Why did he double-cross me and what did he do to this town?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Uh... sh-shouldn't we talk about... "it", first?
Emma Swan: What?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Us? Your life? Everything?
Emma Swan: Can we do "everything" maybe later, like, with a glass of wine... and several... bottles?
David Nolan: I know it's a lot to take in, for all of us.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: And we don't want to push, but we've waited for this moment for so long.
Emma Swan: Yes, so have I! I've thought about this moment my entire life. I've imagined who you might be. But of all the scenarios that I concocted, my parents being... I-I just need a little time, that's... that's all.

Mary Margaret Blanchard: We need to talk.
Emma Swan: I... well, I don't... I just... I don't want to talk.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Well, I do. Okay? Gold can wait, I can't. And you're my daughter, and... I want to talk to you. I know that we have talked; but... we didn't know that we were talking. And we talked about things we probably shouldn't even have talked about - one-night stands and the like.
David Nolan: One-night stands?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Whale.
David Nolan: Whale?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: We were cursed!

David Nolan: If the curse is broken, why didn't we go back?
Regina Mills: Because there's nothing to go back to. That land is gone.

[Mary Margaret has fended off a soul-sucking wraith as it attacked Regina]
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Did I...
Regina Mills: ...kill it? No, it's regenerating. It'll be back. It doesn't stop until it devours its prey - me.
Emma Swan: So, how do we kill it?
Regina Mills: There's no way. Can't kill something that's already dead.
Emma Swan: Then we have a problem.
David Nolan: No, we don't. Regina does.
Regina Mills: What?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: David?
Emma Swan: You want to let her die?
David Nolan: Why not? Then it goes away. Then we're safe.
Regina Mills: That's quite the example you're setting for your daughter there.
David Nolan: No. You don't get to judge us!

David Nolan: [walking into the room with Mary Margaret, both carrying brooms] Torches, for when it comes back. I know it's old-fashioned, but so am I.

David Nolan: My business is making sure this town doesn't go to hell.

[Henry is looking at a picture of his mom and grandma]
David Nolan: Don't worry. Emma and Mary Margaret, they're alive.
Henry Mills: How do you know?
David Nolan: I have faith.
Henry Mills: But...
David Nolan: Henry, come here.
[he kneels down and turns Henry to face him]
David Nolan: I will find them. I will always find them.

"Once Upon a Time: We Are Both (#2.2)" (2012)
Regina Mills: Surprised you don't have armed guards 'round the clock.
David Nolan: Don't need 'em. We both know if you step outside, there's a line a mile long for your head.

Regina Mills: Maybe you should be less concerned with hats, and more concerned with taking care of my son.
David Nolan: [sarcastically] Oh, because you took such great care of him.
Regina Mills: I will not listen to childcare lectures from a man who put his daughter in a box and shipped her to Maine.

David Nolan: Frustrated, are we? Serves you right. You earned every bit of this.
Regina Mills: Keep on baiting me, Charming! Right now I don't have magic and I don't have my son, but when I get one, I get the other. And you don't want to be around when that happens.
David Nolan: If you have to use magic to keep your son, you don't really have him.

Dr. Whale: Hey, let me ask you something. Are the nuns still nuns, or can they, you know, date?
David Nolan: Uh, I don't know. Blue!
Dr. Whale: Don't say it's me asking.

[Jefferson is not very inclined to help David get into the Enchanted Forest]
David Nolan: I'm the closest thing left to a sheriff here, so I can just throw you in a cell until you figure out a way.
Jefferson: Then all we'll do is both sit, stuck - two lives in our heads, cursed worse than ever. Two lives forever at odds. Double the pain; double the suffering.

David Nolan: Look, I get wanting to leave here, I do. And I get that it's easier to let go of bad memories, but... even bad memories are part of us. David, Storybrooke David, was- is... weak... confused. And he hurt the woman I love. I wouldn't give up being Charming just to be him. But you know what? I wouldn't make the other trade either. Because that David reminds me not only of whom I lost... but of who I want to be. My weaknesses and my strengths, David and the Prince, I am both. Just like you. You are both. The town is both. We are both.

David Nolan: I'm here to buy something... a way to find someone.
Mr. Gold: What, like a map?
David Nolan: Something with a bit more kick. Like the ring you gave me to find Snow.
Mr. Gold: Ah, yeah. Magic. Whom are you following?
David Nolan: Not telling.
Mr. Gold: So, do you have something of theirs, this missing person?
David Nolan: Yes.
Mr. Gold: May I see it?
David Nolan: No.
[smiles at Mr. Gold who chuckles back]

[David is rehearsing a speech to the people of Storybrooke, with little success]
Henry Mills: No. Keep going. You were onto something.
David Nolan: No, I wasn't. I did the fighting, Snow did the talking.

David Nolan: [to the townspeople trying to leave Storybrooke] If you cross that line, you're gonna be lost! Everyone who loves you will lose you. But there's something worse: you'll lose yourself. Look, I get wanting to leave here, I do. And I get that it's easier to let go of bad memories, but... even bad memories are part of us. David, Storybrooke David, was, is... weak. Stay here, and every choice is open to you. Live in the woods, if you want. Hell, live in a shoe, if you want! Or eat frozen burritos and write software. Let's open Granny's, and the school, and get back to work. I will protect you. She won't be able to hurt any of us, not as long as I'm alive. Not as long as we all come together. As we did before! As we shall do again.

"Once Upon a Time: Into the Deep (#2.8)" (2012)
David Nolan: You sure you're OK to do this, kid?
Henry Mills: I was born to do this. I'm done reading about heroes. I wanna be one.
David Nolan: Well, sometimes, being one is knowing when not to run into the fire.

[Gold has suggested they send Henry back into the Netherworld]
David Nolan: Not a chance in hell. We'd be monsters to even consider risking his life again.
Mr. Gold: Careful with your tone, Charming. I understand your concern for the boy, but I know Cora. Without our help, Snow and Emma will soon be dead. And then, a true monster will be on her way to Storybrooke.

[David has decided to visit the fiery room himself]
Regina Mills: *You're* going to this Netherworld?
David Nolan: I faced you. How bad could it be?

David Nolan: I've spent far too much time looking for my wife. It is time to bring her home!

David Nolan: It's gonna be all right.
Henry Mills: How do you know?
David Nolan: Well... how did you know Emma would save you, after you ate the turnover?
Henry Mills: I believed in her.
David Nolan: The way Snow and I believed she'd come back to break the curse. That's the kind of faith that runs in our family.

David Nolan: When I awake, I'll be in that fiery room?
Mr. Gold: Not exactly. That room is where those who've already awoken from the curse return. You, however, are being put under for the first time.
David Nolan: Then how will I know where to go? How the hell am I supposed to find a room with no door?
Mr. Gold: And that, dearie, is the conundrum we're all depending on you solving. Now, I say this with the utmost sincerity: good luck.

Mary Margaret Blanchard: You found me.
David Nolan: You found me.

David Nolan: You will always find me, and I will always find you.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Yes. Will we always lose each other, too? Is that our fate?
David Nolan: No. I refuse to believe that. You need to have faith. In us.

"Once Upon a Time: Tiny (#2.13)" (2013)
David Nolan: All right, Gold, you're going out there with my family. Just know if anything happens to 'em...
Mr. Gold: Then you'll what? Cross the town line? And David Nolan will hunt me down in his animal rescue van?
David Nolan: I'll be devastated.

Leroy: So let me get this straight. You got a twin brother?
David Nolan: Yeah.
Leroy: Whose name is James?
David Nolan: Right.
Leroy: But *your* name is James.
David Nolan: No, actually it's not.
Leroy: Charming, then?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: No, that's the nickname I gave him.
Leroy: Hey, hold on, what the hell *is* your name?
David Nolan: David.
Leroy: Your cursed name?
David Nolan: My real name.
Leroy: What, you're David, James and Charming, and David's like a middle name?
David Nolan: No, it's my name name!
Leroy: You know, whatever, I'll call you whatever I damn well please! That OK?
David Nolan: Sure, Leroy.

Mary Margaret Blanchard: Guess we found our giant. I just didn't think he would be so...
David Nolan: Giant?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: My mistake.
David Nolan: Ever stopped one before?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Nope.
David Nolan: Well... here's to new firsts.

Mary Margaret Blanchard: I had a lot of fun today.
David Nolan: Fun? Almost getting killed is fun?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Yeah. I missed our adventures!
David Nolan: Me too. It was kind of fun.

David Nolan: You know, we could do this all the time. When the beans grow, we could go back. Everyone could go home.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: I don't know.
David Nolan: What don't you know?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Home is where our family is. And that's here.

"Once Upon a Time: Child of the Moon (#2.7)" (2012)
David Nolan: It must be hard for you. You know, watching good win.
Spencer: [sneers] Good? So sure of yourself. But I know the truth. You're still just a shepherd pretending to be a prince. You weren't fit to run the kingdom and you sure as hell aren't fit to run this town.
David Nolan: I think the people of Storybrooke might disagree with you.
Spencer: Today. But I'm gonna see to it that they see things my way, that they see you for who you really are. By the time I'm done with you, you'll wish you'd killed me when you had the chance.
David Nolan: The people of this town know who I really am, and they've seen me defeat you before. So if you wanna try and take me down... they'll see it again.

David Nolan: Who do I call to tow a tow truck?

[Spencer has claimed Ruby from David, to bring her to justice]
Spencer: Hand that over to me and let the town decide her fate.
David Nolan: Never. I know exactly what kind of justice you have in mind.
Spencer: This town is bigger than you think. I start telling people that you're putting their lives in danger to protect your own interests, you'll have a mutiny on your hands.
David Nolan: Yeah, we'll see. You want her. You have to go through me.
Spencer: I look forward to that.

[David has managed to calm down the wolf in Ruby]
Ruby: You saved me.
David Nolan: No. You saved yourself. I just reminded you of what you already knew.

David Nolan: Where're you going?
Ruby: I've still got a few hours of wolfstime left. You helped me regain control. I wanna do something I haven't done in a very long time.
David Nolan: What's that?
[Ruby takes off her hood and dumps it onto David]
Ruby: Run.

"Once Upon a Time: The Cricket Game (#2.10)" (2013)
David Nolan: Mary Margaret and I, we have a saying: that we will always find each other. And while I believe that with all my heart, I'd like you all to raise your glasses and join me when I say: here's to not having to look for a while.

Henry Mills: What are you guys still doing in bed? It's the middle of the afternoon.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: The trip back was tiring and I needed to rest.
David Nolan: And I needed to... help her... rest.
Emma Swan: ...Uh, let's, let's go make the tacos. Though we have to make a lot, because there's gonna be a ton of people at Granny's welcome back party tonight.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: [whispering to Emma] We thought you were gonna be back later.
Emma Swan: [flustered] Yeah, well, we weren't. So maybe next time you could put a tie on the door, or send a text, or... You know what? I, I'm... gonna go make some tacos.
[walks off]
David Nolan: It's impressive that we can still provide her with a few traumatic childhood memories at this stage of the game.

[Emma believes that Regina has been framed for the murder on Archie]
David Nolan: Who'd want to frame her?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: That's a long list, present company included.

"Once Upon a Time: Lady of the Lake (#2.3)" (2012)
Henry Mills: [upset that Emma and Mary Margaret are still missing] It wasn't supposed to be this way. I should be over there with them, riding horses, learning how to swordfight.
David Nolan: I know. I know. It's okay; because we're gonna do this together.

David Nolan: You're the grandson of a prince. Think it's about time you learned how to use a sword. Henry - I can't get 'em back without you. So? What do you say, you with me?
Henry Mills: Can you teach me how to fight a dragon?
David Nolan: We'll work our way up to it.

David Nolan: [saving Henry from the genie's viper] Maybe we should have gone with "Operation Viper" after all.

"Once Upon a Time: The Crocodile (#2.4)" (2012)
Mr. Gold: Look, uh... Can I ask you a question? A-about you and Mary Margaret. H-how... How does that work?
David Nolan: [stunned] Are you asking dating advice?
Mr. Gold: Course not, no.
David Nolan: [sighs] Honesty. That's how we did it. Hard work, and being honest with one another.
Mr. Gold: Well... I don't lie.
David Nolan: There is a difference between literal truth and honesty of the heart. Nothing taught me that more than this curse.

Mr. Gold: It's not lost on me that I'm now here to ask for your help.
David Nolan: Well, then it shouldn't be lost on you when I say no.

David Nolan: Do you remember turning a butcher into a pig?
Mr. Gold: Can't say that I do. Why?
David Nolan: Well, he does. Apparently it was his father. I'm beginning to understand why nobody wants to help you.
Mr. Gold: Well, what... H-has he seen Belle?
David Nolan: Afraid not.
Mr. Gold: Okay, so, what's next?
David Nolan: Granny's. We can see who else you terrorized there.

"Once Upon a Time: Witch Hunt (#3.13)" (2014)
David Nolan: What exactly took Little John?
Robin Hood: We didn't get a good look - some manner of beast with wings.
Emma Swan: That sounds a lot like the monster that attacked me in New York.
Hook: You mean the monster you were gonna marry?
[Emma shoots Hook a look of "Did you have to mention that?"]
David Nolan: You were gonna marry someone?
Hook: Did you just miss the part where I said "monster"?

David Nolan: [after Little John becomes a flying monkey] What the hell was that thing?
Dr. Whale: Don't look at me. I'm a doctor, not a vet.

"Once Upon a Time: Lacey (#2.19)" (2013)
[Emma is being shown the magic bean plantation]
David Nolan: We kept it a secret to protect the crop. Mother Superior, she cloaked the area. That way, Anton can do what he does best.
Anton: Actually, you haven't seen me play darts, but, uh... yeah, I do this pretty good.

[Mr. Gold has managed to ask Lacey out on a date]
David Nolan: Not bad, Don Juan.
Mr. Gold: Don Juan was nothing before he made his deal with me.

"Once Upon a Time: The Shepherd (#1.6)" (2011)
Kathryn Nolan: So, I was gonna go to bed. Do you... wanna join me?
David Nolan: You mean, "go to bed" go to bed, or... go to bed?

Mary Margaret Blanchard: You're going back to her...
David Nolan: It's the right thing to do.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: The right thing to do... was *not* to lead me on!
David Nolan: I know.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: So you've made your choice.

"Once Upon a Time: The Queen Is Dead (#2.15)" (2013)
[Cora has willfully killed Johanna, Snow's former servant, as a show of force]
Mary Margaret Blanchard: I followed the same rule my entire life. Hold on to goodness. It's what my mother taught me. How many more lives is following that lesson going to take away from me?
David Nolan: You can't let Cora make you lose faith in who you are, someone who does the right thing. Now, it's exactly what she wants.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: I made the "right" decision when I stopped Regina's execution all those years ago? When it could've saved us all of this heartache. I made the "right" decision, when I sent Emma through the wardrobe alone, and we didn't see her first steps? I made the "right" decision, when I let my own mother die from Cora's poison.
David Nolan: And we keep beating them.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: At what cost? All I want is our happy ending. It's time we've earned it.

[last lines]
Mary Margaret Blanchard: We keep thinking that people will change. What if that's wrong? What if *I'm* the one who has to change?
David Nolan: Change how?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: I'm going to kill Cora.

"Once Upon a Time: And Straight on 'til Morning (#2.22)" (2013)
Hook: Live to fight another day, mate.
David Nolan: I'm not your mate.

Emma Swan: Why should we trust you?
David Nolan: We don't have to. If he tries anything, I'll shoot him in the face.
Hook: Quite hostile, aren't we?
David Nolan: Just being clear.

"Once Upon a Time: In the Name of the Brother (#2.12)" (2013)
[David is trying to unlock the stranger's phone]
David Nolan: Leroy, can you get it open or something? Hack it?
Leroy: Well, you do understand that computer hacking and pickax hacking are different.

[the townspeople are discussing the stranger, the first outsider coming into Storybrooke]
Ruby: So, whatever has kept random people from stumbling into Storybrooke for the last 28 years...
Mary Margaret Blanchard: It's gone.
David Nolan: Anyone could drive in. Why are my instincts telling me that's a bad thing?
Leroy: 'cause you've seen E.T. or Splash, or any other movie where they find somet'n' magical and study it to death. Think what they'd do to a werewolf.
[Ruby gives him a look]

"Once Upon a Time: Nasty Habits (#3.4)" (2013)
David Nolan: There is no hope.
Captain Hook: If there's one thing I've gleamed from you hero types it's that there's always hope.

Captain Hook: [Talking about the dreamshade poison] You don't look so hot, mate.
David Nolan: That's because it's a hundred degrees in this damn jungle. And I'm plenty hot.

"Once Upon a Time: Selfless, Brave and True (#2.18)" (2013)
David Nolan: Ready to tell me what's going on?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Yes. But before I do, you have to promise you won't get mad.
David Nolan: That always means good news.

[Mary Margaret tells David about her fateful encounter with Regina]
David Nolan: Why didn't you tell me?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Because telling you makes things real, and I needed to believe it wasn't; that I could find a way to stop it, that redemption was possible.
David Nolan: It is. Look at August.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: But it cost him... everything.
David Nolan: You are not him, Mary Margaret, and you sure as hell aren't Regina. Which means, those are not the only two options. We'll find another way. I know it.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: What makes you so sure?
[he places her hand over her heart]
David Nolan: This does. And I know it better than anyone.

"Once Upon a Time: Heart of Darkness (#1.16)" (2012)
Regina Mills: I always believe that evil isn't born. It's made.
David Nolan: All due respect, Regina, I don't think you know much about evil.
[... ]
Regina Mills: Evil doesn't always look evil. Sometimes it's staring right at us, and we don't even realize it.

"Once Upon a Time: Manhattan (#2.14)" (2013)
David Nolan: So, Rumplestiltskin is Henry's grandfather?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Apparently.
David Nolan: But *I'm* his grandfather.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: You can have more than one.
David Nolan: So, his... step-grandmother is Regina, the Evil Queen?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Actually, his step-great-grandmother. And she's also his adoptive mother.
David Nolan: [sighs] It's a good thing we don't have Thanksgiving in our land, 'cause that dinner would suck.

"Once Upon a Time: 7:15 A.M. (#1.10)" (2012)
[last lines]
Mary Margaret Blanchard: What are you doing here?
David Nolan: It's 7.45.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: I know.
David Nolan: Well, I'm trying not to see you.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Well, I am trying not to see you.
David Nolan: Well, how do we stop seeing each other?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Apparently, we can't.
David Nolan: This is a problem.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Yes.
David Nolan: [of his wife] She is not pregnant.
[they kiss passionately]

"Once Upon a Time: The Miller's Daughter (#2.16)" (2013)
David Nolan: I know what happened to Queen Eva, and I have zero problem with Cora dying for it, but not by your hand and not out of vengeance.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Why?
David Nolan: Because you wouldn't be able to live with yourself. You have the purest heart of anyone I have ever known. That's who you are, and that's who you're gonna stay.

"Once Upon a Time: The Doctor (#2.5)" (2012)
Dr. Whale: [David punches Dr. Whale in the face] What the hell was that for?
David Nolan: Sleeping with my wife.
Dr. Whale: Kathryn?
David Nolan: Snow.

"Once Upon a Time: Think Lovely Thoughts (#3.8)" (2013)
Mr. Gold: You mind if I, uh, borrow this? You said no magic, I agreed. But I'm not walking in there with nothing but my good looks.
Captain Hook: Now, I, on the other hand...
David Nolan: [Tosses him a sword] Here, in case your good looks fail you.

"Once Upon a Time: Red-Handed (#1.15)" (2012)
David Nolan: What is it? Did you find her?
Emma Swan: We found a box.
David Nolan: What... what does that mean?
Emma Swan: We think it... we think that she...
David Nolan: What?
Emma Swan: There was a human heart inside it.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Oh, my god.
David Nolan: [crying] No.
Emma Swan: We're gonna send it out for some tests, but there aren't any other missing people.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Maybe you should go.
Emma Swan: There's more.
David Nolan: What?
Emma Swan: There were fingerprints inside the lid of the box. I ran them through the records of everyone in town, and there was a match.
David Nolan: Arrest me.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: No! David...
David Nolan: Arrest me. Emma, do it.
Emma Swan: David, the fingerprints weren't yours.
David Nolan: [quietly] What?
Emma Swan: They were Mary Margaret's.

"Once Upon a Time: The Return (#1.19)" (2012)
Mary Margaret Blanchard: It's like something in this world doesn't want us together.
David Nolan: Like what? Dark forces?
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Maybe. I don't know, but it's like something just keeps pouring... poison between us. And what I don't want is to have all of those good memories... replaced by moments like that, when I looked at you, and I saw that you didn't believe me.
David Nolan: No. I know. I am so sorry.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: I know. I know.
David Nolan: But I love you.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: [smiles wryly] And that... is what makes it all so sad!

"Once Upon a Time: A Land Without Magic (#1.22)" (2012)
Snow White, Mary Margaret Blanchard: [respectively] You found me.
Prince Charming, David Nolan: [respectively] Did you ever doubt I would?

"Once Upon a Time: Tallahassee (#2.6)" (2012)
[last lines]
Henry Mills: [about his nightmare] I wa- I was in this room. And... and it was red. And there was no doors, no windows. And these curtains... And they were on fire. And... I was in this corner. And... and, and, and I was looking up. And there was someone else there. She was staring at me through the flames. Th-then I woke up, and...
David Nolan: Hey. Don't worry, all right? It was just a bad dream.

"Once Upon a Time: The New Neverland (#3.10)" (2013)
Emma Swan: Sure you don't have other reasons for pushing me toward Neal?
David Nolan: Like what?
Emma Swan: I don't know. Keeping me away from Hook?
David Nolan: You think I'm interested in Hook? Emma, I'm a married man.

"Once Upon a Time: It's Not Easy Being Green (#3.16)" (2014)
David Nolan: And you're sure Cora never said anything about her?
Regina Mills: I think I would remember if my mother told me she had a love child with a scarecrow.

"Once Upon a Time: The Heart of the Truest Believer (#3.1)" (2013)
David Nolan: [mermaids are attacking the Jolly Roger] I will not be capsized by fish!

"Once Upon a Time: Queen of Hearts (#2.9)" (2012)
[Mary Margaret has roused her husband from his sleep]
David Nolan: You... You did it.
Mary Margaret Blanchard: Did you ever doubt I would?
David Nolan: No.
[they kiss]
David Nolan: Though the burning red room did give me pause.

"Once Upon a Time: Save Henry (#3.9)" (2013)
David Nolan: I didn't think it was possible. A hero, a villain, pirates. That we could all be untied but we were because of the most important piece of the puzzle. A leader.
