"The Originals: Always and Forever (#1.1)" (2013)
Klaus Mikaelson: Every king needs an heir.

Agnes: Witches don't talk outta school in the Quarter. The vampires won't allow it. Those are the rules. I don't break Marcel's rules.
Klaus Mikaelson: Marcel's rules? Where do you suppose I might find Marcel?

Marcel Gerard: [as they greet each other] Klaus.
Klaus Mikaelson: Marcel.
Marcel Gerard: Must be a hundred years since that nasty business with your papa.
Klaus Mikaelson: Has it been that long?
Marcel Gerard: The way I recall it, he ran you outta town. Left a trail of dead vampires in his wake.
Klaus Mikaelson: And yet how fortunate you managed to survive. My father, I'm afraid, I recently incinerated to dust.
Marcel Gerard: Well, if I'd known you were coming back to town, if I had a heads-up...
Klaus Mikaelson: What, Marcel? What would you have done?
Marcel Gerard: [happily] I'd have thrown you a damn parade!

Marcel Gerard: It's good to see you.
Klaus Mikaelson: It's good to be home. Although please tell me the current state of Bourbon Street is not your doing.
Marcel Gerard: Something's gotta draw in the out-of-towners. Otherwise we'd all go hungry.
Klaus Mikaelson: I see your friends are daywalkers.
Marcel Gerard: Yeah, yeah, I shared the secret of your daylight ring with a few buddies. Just the inner circle, though. The family.
Klaus Mikaelson: Tell me. How did you find a witch will to make daylight rings?
Marcel Gerard: I got the witches around here wrapped around my finger.
Klaus Mikaelson: Is that so? I'm looking for a witch by the name of Jane-Anne Deveraux. Has some business with me.

Marcel Gerard: [as he drinks] Oh, how's your family?
Klaus Mikaelson: Those who live hate me more then ever.
Marcel Gerard: Ah, forget 'em. If your blood relations let you down, you make your own, eh? You taught me that. And what's mine is yours, as always. Even my nightwalkers and the riff-raff.

Klaus Mikaelson: [upset, after watching Marcel execute Jane-Anne] What was that?
Marcel Gerard: Hey, come walk with me. The witches aren't allowed to do magic her. She broke the rules.
Klaus Mikaelson: I told you I wanted to talk to her!
Marcel Gerard: Hey, I'm sorry. I got caught up in the show. Those witches, they think that they still have power in this town. I have to show them that they don't. I never waste an opportunity for a show of force. Another lesson that I learned from you. And besides, anything that you could've gotten outta her, I can find out for you, and I will. I promise.

Sophie Deveraux: [stops chopping food and looks up] You're Klaus?
Klaus Mikaelson: I am. And you're upset. Sophie, isn't it? I assume this is because of what I just witnessed with your sister on the corner of Royal and St. Ann?
Sophie Deveraux: Did you enjoy the show?
Klaus Mikaelson: It was a little melodramatic for my tastes. What did your sister want with me? Why did Marcel kill her?

Klaus Mikaelson: [to the lackey vampires following him] If Marcel wants to know what I'm up to, he can ask me himself.

Marcel Gerard: I get it. A show of force. You made your point. Let it go, friend, ah? For me?
Klaus Mikaelson: Fine. Why don't you show me what you've done with the place, while you explain exactly what it is you've been up to in my town.

Marcel Gerard: [looking out over the city] Look at that skyline, huh? That there, that's progress. More hotels, more tourists, more fresh blood. And the humans? I taught them to look the other way.
Klaus Mikaelson: And what of the witches? In my time, they were a force to be reckoned with, and now they live in fear. How do you know when they're using magic?
Marcel Gerard: Maybe I got a secret weapon, an ace up my sleeve; something that gives me complete control over all the magic in this town.
Klaus Mikaelson: Hmm? Is that a fact?
Marcel Gerard: Might be. Maybe I'm just bluffing.

Klaus Mikaelson: [knowingly without turning] Evening, Elijah.
Elijah Mikaelson: Niklaus.
Klaus Mikaelson: What an entirely unwelcome surprise.
Elijah Mikaelson: Come with me.
Klaus Mikaelson: I'm not going anywhere. Not until I find out who's conspiring against me.
Elijah Mikaelson: I believe I just found that out for you.

Sophie Deveraux: [reasoning to Klaus] You know you're famous in this town. Witches tell bedtime stories about the powerful vampire Klaus. We know Marcel was nothing but an orphan street rat, until you made him what he is. And now he's out of control. He does what he wants. He kills who he wants. I'm gonna stop him, and you're gonna help me.
Klaus Mikaelson: [amused, to Elijah] This is why you brought me here?
Elijah Mikaelson: Hear her out.
Klaus Mikaelson: I don't need to hear her out.
[to Sophie]
Klaus Mikaelson: I assure you, love; , there is not a thing on this earth that will matter enough for me to waste even thirty more seconds of my time.
[sees Halyey walk in]
Klaus Mikaelson: Elijah, what madness is this?
Hayley: Klaus, you need to listen to them.
Klaus Mikaelson: [incredulously to the group] You're all out of your minds if you think some liquor-fueled, one-night stand, no offense sweetheart, means anything to me.
Sophie Deveraux: Marcel may be able to keep us from practicing real magic in this town, but as keepers of the balance we still know when nature has cooked up something new. For example, I have a special gift... of sensing when a girl is pregnant.

Elijah Mikaelson: [about Hayley] Niklaus, the girls is carrying your child.
Klaus Mikaelson: [not believing] No. It's impossible. Vampire cannot procreate.
Sophie Deveraux: But werewolves can. Magic made you a vampire, but you were born a werewolf. You're the Original hybrid. The first of your kind and this pregnancy is one of nature's loopholes.
Klaus Mikaelson: [to Hayley] You've been with someone else. Admit it!
Hayley: [irately] Hey, I've spent days held captive in a freaking alligator bayou because they think that I'm carrying some magical miracle baby. Don't you think I would've fessed up if it wasn't yours?

Klaus Mikaelson: [about Hayley's child] It's a trick, Elijah.
Elijah Mikaelson: No, brother. It's a gift. It's your chance... it's our chance.
Klaus Mikaelson: To what?
Elijah Mikaelson: To start over. Take back everything we lost, everything that was taken from us. Niklaus. Our own parents came to despise us. Our family was ruined. We were ruined. And since then, all that you have ever wanted... all that we have ever wanted was a family.
Klaus Mikaelson: I will not be manipulated.
Elijah Mikaelson: So they're manipulating you. So what? With them, this girls and her child... your child... live.
Klaus Mikaelson: [seething] I'm gonna kill every last one of them!
Elijah Mikaelson: And then what? Then you return to Mystic Falls to resume your life as the hated one? As the evil hybrid? Is it so important to you that people quake with fear at the sound of your name?
Klaus Mikaelson: People quake with fear because I have the power to make them afraid. What will this child offer me? Will it guarantee me power?

Marcel Gerard: Hey, man. Where'd you run off to?
Klaus Mikaelson: You mean your minions aren't still documenting my every move?
Marcel Gerard: Someone put you in a mood. What can I do?
Klaus Mikaelson: What you can do is you can tell me what this thing is you have with the witches.
Marcel Gerard: Oh, we're back to that?

Marcel Gerard: You know I owe you everything I got, but I'm afraid I have to draw the line on this one. This is my business. I control the witches in my town. Let's just leave it at that.
Klaus Mikaelson: Your town?
Marcel Gerard: Damn straight.
Klaus Mikaelson: That's funny, because when I left 100 years ago, you were just a pathetic little scrapper still trembling from the lashes of the whips of those who would keep you down, and now look at you. Master of your domain. Prince of the city. I'd like to know how.
Marcel Gerard: Why? Jealous? Hey, man, I get it. Three hundred years ago, you helped build a backwater penal colony into something. You started it, but then you left. Actually, you ran from it. I saw it through. Look around. Vampires rule this city now. We don't have to live in the shadows like rats. The locals know their place. They look the other way. I got rid of the werewolves. I even found a way to shut down the witches. The blood never stops flowing and the party never ends. You wanna pass on through? You wanna stay a while? Great. What's mine is yours, but it is mine. My home, my family, my rules.
Klaus Mikaelson: And if someone breaks those rules?
Marcel Gerard: They die. Mercy is for the weak. You taught me that, too. And I'm not the prince of the Quarter, friend. I'm the king. Show my some respect!

Camille O'Connell: [regarding the street painter with the large canvas] Every artist has a story, you know.
Klaus Mikaelson: And what do you suppose his story is?
Camille O'Connell: He's angry. Dark. Doesn't feel safe and doesn't know what to do about it. He wishes he could control his demons instead of having his demons control him. He's lost, alone. Or maybe he just drank too much tonight...
[as Klaus just looks at her]
Camille O'Connell: Sorry. Overzealous Psych major.
Klaus Mikaelson: No. I think you were probably right the first time.

Klaus Mikaelson: [as Elijah sits down] Are you here to give me another pep talk on the joys of fatherhood?
Elijah Mikaelson: I've said all I needed to say.
Klaus Mikaelson: I forgot how much I like this town.
Elijah Mikaelson: I didn't forget. All the centuries we've spent together, and yet I can count on one hand the number of time that our family has been truly happy. I hated leaving here.
Klaus Mikaelson: As did I.
Elijah Mikaelson: What is on your mind, brother?

Klaus Mikaelson: There's no power in love! Mercy makes you weak! Family makes you weak!

Klaus Mikaelson: Every king needs and heir.

"The Originals: Reigning Pain in New Orleans (#1.9)" (2013)
Elijah Mikaelson: You don't make it easy to love you, brother.
Klaus Mikaelson: And yet, you are obstinate in your desire to do so.

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Cami] A thousand years of history isn't going to write itself.

Klaus Mikaelson: When I order werewolves to be hunted to extinction, I expect you to stand to the side and let the blood flow.
Elijah Mikaelson: How delightfully democratic of you.

Klaus Mikaelson: I have had enough family to last me a lifetime. Why would I possibly want anymore?

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Marcel] This community that you've built, you have their respect, their love. I can rule them, but I cannot win them. Not without you. So rule with me, side by side, as equals, friends, brothers.

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Marcel] At first, the promise of offspring meant little to me and I recalled my father and how he held me in contempt from the moment I was born. As yours did with you. I will not do to my child what was done to me.

Marcel Gerard: [Klaus, about Cami] You compelled her to go out with me, didn't you?
[to Cami]
Marcel Gerard: And I thought you really liked me.
Camille O'Connell: So did I.
Klaus Mikaelson: [to Cami] Well, I mean to be clear. I only compelled you to give him a chance. Anything you felt for him was quite real. and for the record, the level of awkwardness we're all currently experiencing is entirely genuine.

Klaus Mikaelson: [Toasting to his guests] Let us begin with a toast to our shared gift: immortality. After 1,000 years, one might expect life to be less keenly felt, for its beauties and its sorrows to diminish with time, but as vampires we feel more deeply than humans could possibly imagine. Insatiable need, exquisite pain, our victories, and our defeats. To my city, my home again. May the blood never cease to flow.
Marcel Gerard: any may the party never end.

"The Originals: Fruit of the Poisoned Tree (#1.6)" (2013)
Klaus Mikaelson: Elijah's back. In his presence, all problems turn to pixi-dust and float away.

Klaus Mikaelson: Allow me to entertain you with today's list of priorities. One: unlink your friend Sophie so she no longer controls the fate of the woman carrying my child. Two: convince my brother to accept my heartfelt apologies for some recently dodgy behavior. Three: there is no three.

Klaus Mikaelson: You're a piece of work, Agnes. But, guess what? I'm quite a piece of work myself. You know, I contemplated leaving bits of you artfully arranged outside your family's tomb? I thought it would leave a fitting message. Don't touch my family!

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Elijah] Day one with you in charge, brother; and already the witch linked to Hayley has been abducted by zealots.

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Agnes] I don't care about witch politics. I don't care about your ridiculous little Harvest ritual. What I care about is this trinket. Undo its curse or I'll show you things worse than death!

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Marcel] I'll speak to Elijah. I'm sure he'll be pleased to host you and Davina for the evening. Especially after you were so hospitable to him.

"The Originals: Tangled Up in Blue (#1.3)" (2013)
Klaus Mikaelson: My sister was right. You do look stunning.
Camille O'Connell: You cleaned up pretty well yourself.
Klaus Mikaelson: Wll, don't be fooled love. I'm the devil in disguise.

Klaus Mikaelson: [about Elijah] You hardly know him... and yet you miss him. What is it about my brother that always inspires such instant admiration?
Hayley: He was kind to me.
Klaus Mikaelson: Well, don't be fooled, love. I'm the devil in disguise.

Hayley: So is there a plan or what?
Klaus Mikaelson: War.

Rebekah Mikaelson: I cannot believe you disposed of those vampires without me. You know how I love to set things on fire.
Klaus Mikaelson: Was I supposed to leave them in the front yard to rot? Besides, they were my responsibility. They attacked the helpless pregnant girl who is carrying my child.
Rebekah Mikaelson: [sarcastically] Oh, I am so moved by your new found sense of fatherly duty towards the werewolf carrying your hybrid bun in her over.
Hayley: [entering the room] The werewolf would like to know what the plan is.

Klaus Mikaelson: [Sounds like more than just a broken heart. Someone broke your trust]

"The Originals: The River in Reverse (#1.8)" (2013)
Rebekah Mikaelson: Elijah is home. There's only one dagger. Which one of us will you be punishing today?
Klaus Mikaelson: I contemplated a game, of eeny meeny miny moe. You betrayed me, my own sister.
Elijah Mikaelson: Niklaus, don't you dare.
Klaus Mikaelson: Well, perhaps it should be you, brother, stealing my child away with every fawning moment of tenderness you show to Hayley.
Elijah Mikaelson: This has nothing to do with Hayley.
Klaus Mikaelson: It has everything to do with her! She's adored you since she arrived and now my child, my blood will grow up to call you father.
Rebekah Mikaelson: Is that what this is? You are once again worried that you will be left behind? Has history taught you nothing? We don't abandon you, Nik. You drive us away.
Klaus Mikaelson: Is that so? What have I done lately other than cooperate? I bowed down to you, brother, to make up for daggering you, for the greater good of our plan to reclaim our home. Looked the other way, sister, while you repeat the same cycle with Marcel, falling again for a man you shouldn't be with, while he controls the empire that we built that he took. Now, I make no excuses for past sins but in the one moment when you two could have chosen to stand by me, to believe in me... and believe my intentions for my own child were pure, you chose to stand against me to side with my enemies. I wanted our home back. Now I have it. So, I'm going to live there, and the two of you, you can stay here together... and rot.

Klaus Mikaelson: [about Hayley, to Elijah] She's adored you since she arrived and now my child, my blood will grow up to call you father.
Rebekah Mikaelson: Is that what it is? You are once again worried that you will be left behind? Has history taught you nothing? We don't abandon you, Nik. You drive us away!
Klaus Mikaelson: In the one moment when you two could have chosen to stand by me, to believe in me, believe my intentions for my own child were pure, you chose to stand against me. To side with my enemies. I wanted our home back, and now I have it. So I'm going to live there. And the two of you can stay together here and rot.

Rebekah Mikaelson: Perhaps I'm concerned that if I voice my opinion about what you did to Elijah, I will end up on the wrong side of your toxic hybrid teeth.
Klaus Mikaelson: Poppycock! I would never bite you... you know my preferred method of punishment for your indiscretions is the dagger.
Rebekah Mikaelson: There is something fundamentally wrong with you.

Klaus Mikaelson: Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. I am a liar, a betrayer. I have conspired against my own blood and I doubt even your God could save me.

"The Originals: Girl in New Orleans (#1.4)" (2013)
Camille O'Connell: No offense, but I'm not sure I follow why you've invited me here.
Klaus Mikaelson: Because I enjoy your company and I sense you have the capacity for understanding someone of my... complexity. You see, I returned to New Orleans to investigate a threat posed against me. What I found was a young woman, pregnant, in need of protection. My brother, always the do-gooder, tried to manipulate me into helping her. He thought it might redeem me.
Camille O'Connell: [analyzing him] I don't believe in evil as a diagnosis. I think you have unstable personal relationships, stress-related paranoia, chronic anger issues, and fear of abandonment. I think you could benefit from talking to someone professionally.
Klaus Mikaelson: I think I prefer to talk to you. So, I'm going to offer you a job as my stenographer.
Camille O'Connell: Okay. What am I writing?
Klaus Mikaelson: My memoirs, of course. Someone should know my story. And it will give us time to discuss other riveting subjects, like your handsome suitor: Marcel.
Camille O'Connell: [affronted] Excuse me? My private life is...
Klaus Mikaelson: Your private life is, as it turns out, essential to my plans. You see, Marcel wants you. and because of that, he will trust you, which serves me. The thing is the French Quarter is on the verge of war. On the one side there's me and on the other, Marcel; along with a very powerful witch and an army of vampires.
Camille O'Connell: [suddenly scared] What?
Klaus Mikaelson: [compelling her] You're frightened... Don't be.
Camille O'Connell: [calmly] I'm not cared anymore. That's amazing. How did you?
Klaus Mikaelson: It's called compulsion. It's a neat bit of vampire trickery. I'll tell you all about it. But first, let's talk a little more about Marcel.

Camille O'Connell: I know what you are. It's crazy to me but at least it makes sense. But this... massacre.
[about her brother]
Camille O'Connell: It's just a pointless, brutal thing. In your life, have you ever heard of anything like that? A good man, an aspiring priest, just goes on a killing spree out of nowhere.
Klaus Mikaelson: I've seen quite a lot in my time. The world is a rather awful place. Best to meet it on it's own terms.
Camille O'Connell: No. The word isn't awful. People are not awful. They want to be good. Something makes them bad, makes them snap. There are always signs. Symptoms before someone has a psychotic break.

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Davina] One of the tragic consequences of war... innocent bystanders.

Klaus Mikaelson: [calmly, compelling Cami] I will find out what happened, and when I do, I will make sure whoever harmed your brother will suffer. And as for you, tonight, you will sleep, and you will dream of a world far better than this one. A world where there is no evil, no demons, and all people desire only to be good.

"The Originals: Bloodletting (#1.7)" (2013)
Klaus Mikaelson: Standing by the noble Elijah, how can I be anything but the lesser brother? A liar, a manipulator, a bastard.

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Elijah] Why else would I show an interest in my own flesh and blood? A heartbroken little crybaby points his finger at me and my own brother falls in line, eager to believe the worst.

Klaus Mikaelson: [menacingly, to Tyler] You want me to end your suffering, don't you? I did break you. I took everything from you. And now you're begging me to sweep away the shards of your shattered little life. Death offers more peace than you deserve. It's better to let you live and each morning you will wake and know that your wretched existence continues only by my will. Now go, and live the rest of your days knowing that you are nothing to me.

Klaus Mikaelson: You seem quite determined to find the little wolf.
Elijah Mikaelson: If I'm moving too fast for you, Niklaus, you're welcome to wait in the car.

"The Originals: Red Door (#2.5)" (2014)
Klaus Mikaelson: Our mother, Elijah, the woman brought us into the world, made us what we are, and the whole time she lied to me. She made me weak.
Elijah Mikaelson: [resolved] You were never weak, Niklaus. You are and you have always been the most fierce of us all. In a thousand years, I have never seen anyone successfully stand against you, not even our wicked father, not one of the countless devoted to your destruction. You will protect our home, even in the face of an adversary such as our mother because that, brother, that is what you do.
Klaus Mikaelson: You remain ever the wise counsel, brother. The rest of the family could learn something from you.

Klaus Mikaelson: [menaced] You rant and rave about the monster I have become, but you, mother, you are the author of everything I am

Vincent: [inhaling his drink] What an aromatic Bordeaux!
Klaus Mikaelson: Well it was a challenge to find a good pairing. What wine goes well with treachery?

Klaus Mikaelson: You know, it's funny how often a person's sharp tongue can end up cutting their own throat.

"The Vampire Diaries: Our Town (#3.11)" (2012)
Caroline Forbes: [weakly opens her eyes to see Kalus in her room] Are you going to kill me?
Klaus: [pained] On your birthday? You really think that low of me?
Caroline Forbes: Yes.
Klaus: [leans down to look at her werewolf bite] That looks bad. My apologies. You were just collateral damage, it's nothing personal. I love birthdays.
Caroline Forbes: Yeah, aren't you like a billion or something?
Klaus: You'll have to adjust your perception of time when you become a vampire Caroline. Celebrate the fact that you are no longer bound by trivial human conventions. You're free.
Caroline Forbes: [rasping] No... I'm dying.
Klaus: And I could let you, die, if that's what you want. If you really believe your existence has no meaning. I thought about it myself once or twice over the centuries, truth be told. But I'll let you in on a little secret, there's a whole world out there waiting for you, great cities and art and music, genuine beauty, and you can have all of it. You can have a thousand more birthdays... all you have to do is ask.
Caroline Forbes: [tearfully] I don't want to die.
Klaus: [bites his wrist as he picks Caroline up to give her his blood] There you go, sweetheart. Have at it.
[she begins to drink]
Klaus: Happy birthday, Caroline.

Tyler Lockwood: [walking in, seeing the blood on the floor] You called? I'm here. What happened?
Klaus: What happened is Stefan had two paths in front of him and he chose the one that made me angry. I need you to help me do something about that.
Tyler Lockwood: Can't you just leave me out of it?
Klaus: What would be the point of that?
Tyler Lockwood: Seriously man, can't you just ask another hybrid to do your bidding? I lost my friends, my girlfriend.
Klaus: Right, your girlfriend. About her... I need you to bite her.
Tyler Lockwood: [not believing] What?
Klaus: Don't make me repeat myself.
Tyler Lockwood: A hybrid bite will kill a vampire.
Klaus: Yeah, I know exactly what it will do. Stefan pushed me too far, so I'm pushing back.
Tyler Lockwood: I'm not biting Caroline.
Klaus: Tyler, I've been supernaturally blessed with the good fortune of a sire-bond to you. So, one could consider this me putting your undying loyalty to the test.
Tyler Lockwood: What the hell is wrong with you? I'm not hurting Caroline!
Klaus: Alright. Alright. I'm disappointed, but you know, it's your choice... free will and all that. I'll find another way to strike at Stefan.

Klaus: [standing at the door] Tyler came to see me. Poor boy, he seemed quiet distressed, he said Caroline had a terrible accident.
Matt Donovan: You made him do this to her. He would have never done something like this.
Klaus: I'm here to help, Matt. My blood will heal her.

"The Originals: House of the Rising Son (#1.2)" (2013)
Klaus Mikaelson: Excuse me, love. What's that you're studying?
Camille O'Connell: [lifting the book] Abnormal psychology.
Klaus Mikaelson: Abnormal psychology. Well, perhaps you could help me diagnose my friend over here. He's been a little but depressed. Can't get his mind off a girl. He tells me she's a queen fit for a king. I think he should cut his losses and move on. What's your professional opinion?
Camille O'Connell: Be a nice guy and maybe the opportunity will present itself someday.

Marcel Gerard: [about the party turned feeding frenzy] THIS is how I keep my guys happy. The occasional all-you-can-eat buffet. My nightwalkers love it. Got 'em working hard trying to earn one of these daylight rings. They deserve to blow off a little steam. My daywalkers, the trusted few, well, they just like to party.
Klaus Mikaelson: It's quite an operation. Tell me, what about the victims? Seems like a lot of graves to dig.
Marcel Gerard: Can't kill them all. Too many folks go missing, tourism drops. So, we heal 'em with a little vamp blood, erase their memory, and send them on their way. No muss no fuss.
Klaus Mikaelson: I'm impressed.
Marcel Gerard: Nothing I didn't learn from you back in the day.

Marcel Gerard: Why didn't you tell me your sister's back in town?
Klaus Mikaelson: I thought it'd be more amusing for you to find out for yourself.
Marcel Gerard: Is there anything else I need to know?
Klaus Mikaelson: Only that she's grown considerably more insane in the last century.
Marcel Gerard: Or maybe that it was her who killed my guys.
Klaus Mikaelson: Doubtful. Unless that biker bar is frequented by small-town high school quarterbacks, I can't imagine she'd be interested.
Marcel Gerard: I don't have time for Mikaelson family drama. You're my guest. Keep your sister in line.
Klaus Mikaelson: I'd have greater chance of draining the Mississippi with a straw.

"The Originals: From a Cradle to a Grave (#1.22)" (2014)
Klaus Mikaelson: It's ingenious. I can see them, I can feel them, and yet they are not real.
Elijah Mikaelson: There has to be a way. Even if we can just push through...
Klaus Mikaelson: What we need to do is focus...
Elijah Mikaelson: My only focus right now is that child and her safety. Do you understand me? This, all of this, this is the world that you created Niklaus.
Klaus Mikaelson: Brother...
Elijah Mikaelson: All of your scheming, the enemies that you have made, every single day of your miserable life, what results did you expect? That your child would be born into a happy life? That the mother would be alive to know her daughter? That we could live and thrive as some kind of family...
Klaus Mikaelson: That was your fantasy brother, not mine.
Elijah Mikaelson: No! Brother, this was our hope. This was our family's hope. And now she's gone. Do you understand, I let this person in... I let her in... I don't let people in... You knew this, you've taken her from me... I needed her and you've broken me...

Rebekah Mikaelson: [about the baby] What's her name?
Klaus Mikaelson: [tearfully, looking at his daughter] Hope... her name is Hope.

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Hope] This city would have seen you dead, but I will have it your home. And every soul who wishes you harm will be struck down, just as sure as my blood runs in your veins, you will return to me.

"The Vampire Diaries: The Reckoning (#3.5)" (2011)
Klaus: The only thing stronger than your craving for blood is your love for this one girl.

Klaus: There's my girl.
Elena Gilbert: Klaus.
Klaus: You are supposed to be dead. What are we gonna do about that?

Klaus: I'd like you all to meet my sister, Rebekah. A word of warning, she can be quite mean.
Rebekah: Don't be an ass.

"The Originals: Farewell to Storyville (#1.16)" (2014)
Rebekah Mikaelson: I know you hate me but what is done is done.
Klaus Mikaelson: What is done is never undone. It remains within ourselves, A story we tell ourselves so that we know who we are. A vicious father, a bastard son, a sister who betrayed him. Perhaps it is time for a new story.

Rebekah Mikaelson: You missed my heart.
Klaus Mikaelson: Perhaps I did, or perhaps I never meant to kill you. Perhaps I just wanted you to feel a fraction of the fear I felt when father came for me.

Klaus Mikaelson: I love my family. You, Elijah, I loved all of you. I know I can be difficult, but I did not make myself that way. It was Mikael who ruined me.
Rebekah Mikaelson: He ruined me too, that's what you forget. Centuries later, each of us is broken. You with your anger and paranoia, me with my fear of abandonment, and poor Elijah, he dedicates himself to everyone but himself. We are the strongest creatures in the world, and yet we're damaged beyond repair. We lived without hope, but we will never die. We are the definition of cursed, always and forever.

"The Originals: The Battle of New Orleans (#1.21)" (2014)
Klaus Mikaelson: How pathetic you've become. Explosives, Marcellus. Really? I should've known it was you who detonated those bombs in the Bayou.
Marcel Gerard: The docks, that was me. I got the detonators from Francesca. Why don't you ask her about the bayou bombing.
Klaus Mikaelson: Lies, and distractions...
Marcel Gerard: I never went after Hayley! I'm not a monster, Klaus! I'm not you.

Klaus Mikaelson: [looking over a tied up, beaten Jackson] Accolades to Marcel. He did quite a dance across the bridge of your nose.
Elijah Mikaelson: [as he opens a crate to reveal a bomb] Although he did leave us a delightful parting gift.

Klaus Mikaelson: [about Marcel] He fills a room with dynamite and yet I'm the tactless one?

"The Originals: Sinners and Saints (#1.5)" (2013)
Klaus Mikaelson: A mutual law of nature, Marcel, is the strong always take from the weak.
Marcel Gerard: Well, if you were so strong you wouldn't have run away from New Orleans like a little bitch all those years ago.

Klaus Mikaelson: Taking me on a field trip to distract me? Pathetic and obvious. I taught you better than that.
Marcel Gerard: You taught me to protect what's mine. You will not take Davina from me. End of story.

Klaus Mikaelson: Well, how may I ask was this particular vision interpreted?
Sophie Deveraux: Pretty much that your baby would bring death to all witches.
Klaus Mikaelson: Oh well, I grow fonder of this child every second.

"The Originals: A Closer Walk with Thee (#1.20)" (2014)
Klaus Mikaelson: what did my father say to you
Hayley: why do you call him that?
Klaus Mikaelson: he has done damage only a father can do

Klaus Mikaelson: Seems rather uncivilized to laugh and dance around the body of a loved one.
Elijah Mikaelson: [disdainfully] Yes, far better to practice your process of grief, Niklaus. Denial, rage, and hoarding coffins in basements.

Klaus Mikaelson: What did my father say to you?
Hayley Marshall: Why do you call him that?
Klaus Mikaelson: He has done damage only a father can do.

"The Vampire Diaries: My Brother's Keeper (#4.7)" (2012)
Klaus: In what world do the words tell no one mean tell your brother and every teenage sycophant in town?
Stefan Salvatore: The secret's safe. No one who knows about the cure will endanger us. Trust me, you know I want to find it more than anyone else.
Klaus: Well then, I suggest you find some more vampires for Jeremy to kill before I'm tempted to offer you up as a victim.

Caroline Forbes: It's just, as her best friend, it is my duty to warn her when she's making a giant mistake, right? And now she's taking Damon's side on everything.
Klaus: So, being a vampire's changed her?
Caroline Forbes: Being a vampire amplifies who you already are. It doesn't turn you into a completely different person.
Klaus: It's very peculiar.
[as he smiles knowingly to himself]
Caroline Forbes: What's that look for?
Klaus: It'll all make sense eventually.

"The Originals: The Big Uneasy (#1.18)" (2014)
Elijah Mikaelson: [about Haley] I have denied every sinlge impulse that I have ever had for that woman, out of some misbegotten respect for intentions that you don't even have.
Klaus Mikaelson: [near seething] I'm warning you!
Elijah Mikaelson: I'm warning 'you'! I've stood by you. I've forsaken every single one of my desires in the name of your ridiculous redemption. No more. If I want something, I'll take it. And nothing-nothing will stand in my way.

Klaus Mikaelson: [to Haley] You know, you've come a long way, little wolf. I knew you were tough. I knew you were cunning. But I never knew you were a queen.

"The Originals: Wheel Inside the Wheel (#2.6)" (2014)
Klaus Mikaelson: Hatred, a pure and perfect hatred that's greater now than the day I first took your life.
Lenore: Why? After all I done to explain to you, why must you persist...
Klaus Mikaelson: [chokes Lenore] Because you came for my child! My daughter! Your own blood!
Lenore: [choking] You don't understand...
Klaus Mikaelson: My child!
Lenore: Niklaus, I had to...
[creates an enchantment, Klaus bleeds from his nose]
Klaus Mikaelson: You declared war when you came after my family. And for that, I will make you suffer as only I can. After all, I am my mother's son.

Klaus Mikaelson: You judge me evil, yet it was 'your' lust that made me what I am.
Lenore: And not once have I ever regretted the love I had for your father. And, you have never known the truth of how that love came to be, or what happened in the months after Mikael and I lost your sister Freya to the plague. There are no words for the loss of a child, as you well know.

"The Vampire Diaries: The Originals (#4.20)" (2013)
Klaus: [lamented] For a thousand years, I lived in fear. Any time I settled anywhere, our father would hunt me down and... chase me off. He made me feel powerless and I hated it. This town was my home once. And in my absence, Marcel has got everything that I ever wanted. Power, loyalty, family. I made him in my image and he has bettered me. I want what he has. I want to be king.
Elijah: And what of Hayley and the baby?
Klaus: Every king needs an heir.

Marcel Gerard: How's the family?
Klaus: Those who live hate me more than ever.
Marcel Gerard: Forget 'em. If your blood relations let you down, you make your own, huh? You taught me that.

Camille O'Connell: I've lost count of the amount of times you've been there for me and everyone you care about. But today, you saved someone that didn't mean a thing to you. Why?
Klaus Mikaelson: Because you wished it. Because what's important to you is important to me. What makes you happy makes me want to keep you so. What scares you I want to tear apart. I do not wish to watch you from behind glass, Camille.
Camille O'Connell: What do you wish?
Klaus Mikaelson: [leans in and they share their first kiss]

"The Originals: Ashes to Ashes (#2.22)" (2015)
Camille O'Connell: When I first got into town, you hand me one of those. I had taken a shift from another girl. If not for that, could've been someone else standing here right now instead of me.
Klaus Mikaelson: You know, I prefer to see it the other way. if it wasn't that night, this bar, that 100 dollar bill, it would have been Jackson Square staring at a painting, or Frenchman Street, listening to jazz. I would've found you. Thank you... for the drink.

"The Originals: The Bloody Crown (#3.22)" (2016)
Klaus Mikaelson: [letter to his daughter, Hope] My dearest Hope, I do not know how this will find you. As a child full of wonder, a teenager full of opinions, or as a woman with the world at her feet. I write to tell you I love you, and to explain that in our family's darkest hour, I was called upon to save my siblings, and so I did. Please do not mourn me, whatever pain I endure, I do so in service of those I love. My sole regret, is that I will be away from you. Be good to your mother. I draw comfort knowing that she will protect you. And I know she will not rest until our family is united. Until then, my sacrifice will allow you to grow. To become the beautiful daughter I can now only imagine. Please remember you are the legacy this family has always desired. The promise we fought to protect. You are, and always will be, our Hope.

"The Vampire Diaries: The Birthday (#3.1)" (2011)

Stefan, Salvatore: Did you doubt me?
Klaus: Not for a second. I knew you'd pass the test. You still care for your brother, for your old life.
Stefan, Salvatore: I don't care about anything anymore.
Klaus: You put on a good show, Stefan. I almost believe you. Let's hope, for your brother's sake, he does. You never stop caring about family, do you? But every time you feed, the blood makes it easier to let go.

"The Vampire Diaries: 500 Years of Solitude (#5.11)" (2014)
Caroline Forbes: Don't you have a dying girl to go punish for all of her sins?
Klaus: I do. But I won't... for you.
Caroline Forbes: So you came all the way to Mystic Falls just to back off when I ask you to?
Klaus: No. No. I came all the way to Mystic Falls to gloat over a corpse to be, as you so poetically put it, but I will leave minus the gloating in return for one small thing.
Caroline Forbes: And what is that?
Klaus: I want your confession.
Caroline Forbes: My confession? I din't do anything... Confession about what?
Klaus: Me. As soon as we're done here, I'm gonna walk away, and I'm never coming back. You'll never again have to look me in the eye and cover our connection with hostility and revulsion. You'll never have to loathe the darkest parts of yourself that care fore in spite of all I've done. I will be gone, and you will be free. I just... Want you to be honest with me.
Caroline Forbes: [almost pleading] I'm in college. I'm building a life for myself. I have plans and a future and things that I want, and none of those things involve you. Okay? None of them.
Klaus: I see.
Caroline Forbes: No, you don't Because yes, I cover our connection with hostility. Because, yes, I hate myself for the truth. So if you promise to walk away like you said an never come back, then, yes, I will be honest with you... I will be honest with you about what I want.
